The horrible fith master killed Fu mama, poor woman, she was such a gentle lady & good mother. The F fu father with his weak a$$ colluded with the Yu’s family so he could get back to being in court. That goes to show how the Yu family & lots of officials are corrupted to get the power & wealth & don’t care about the rest.

I know ZL wants to preserve FTY’s sanity during her mum’s mourning period but I so wish that ZL would just tell FTY that her disgusting & useless a$$ of a father killed mer mum. I can relate to what FTY told ZL how he’s still her father regardless of his behaviour. Telling her the truth would have avoided any misunderstanding & resentments but I’m sure they will sort things out hopefully.

He’s got an army of concubines in the novel.

Have you noticed him telling his father that he was slow at learning his new job & he’s got to go as his work is waiting for him lol. He was nonchalant, uninterested in what his father is yapping about.

Agree with you on concubine Wu. I hope that perhaps YJX may have some compassion for her. Like she said both FTY & YJX are her benefactors so I could see that it softens YJX a little bit. The girl is just trying to survive & hope that she does not turn evil but use her intelligence to save herself but in a proper manner.

YJX is a scumbag. He chose FYK, came up with the adultery plan to get rid of FTY as he thought that FTY would be mini Madam Yu who would try to control him & FYK would be his angel. As a woman, I do have some sympathy for FYK when he spew those cold words towards her. However, FYK has had no remorse in lying & going along with YJX’s disgusting plan. Luckily for FTY, she survived thanks to ZL rescue. YJX & FYK are made for each other. FYK, repeatedly schemes against FTY & belittling FTY in front of her social circle despite her telling FYK to mind her freaking business.

She has helped FTY & ZL in the emperor’s dilemma with regards to the renovation of the mausoleum & changing the late emperor decree. She may help in the future. I observed his (YJX) reaction when the emperor was telling ZL off & he didn’t seem like he was happy that ZL failed so perhaps he may want to compete with ZL fairly & not rely on his family?

Agree. I feel bad for her as she has to do everything to save herself. I do think that she is smarter & perhaps wiser than FYK.

That was my understanding in the drama. The young emperor does not want to be seen as the one that changed the wishes or laws of the late emperor. This is related to filial piety & political legitimacy. Pursuant to Confucian statecraft, amending or overturning a former emperor decrees was seen very risky. It would mean that the ancestors were wrong which would lead to the current emperor losing the Mandate of Heaven so the current emperor is very reluctant to renovate the mausoleum but could not say so to his grandma ( the ED).

Thank you so much. For me, we respect our parents and grandparents but in terms of hierarchy, I think the grandparents would come first unless they are horrible grandparents.

The one I like very much is Madam Wei, she’s as smart as her dada chancellor Tian.

She’s a great actress in these evil roles. She was great in the Glory drama. Madam Yu & her husband are very smart in their schemes, using their allies to set traps for ZL & FTY. I’m worried that ZL alone may not be up to the task to them down. I remember that in the novel, it took ZL & his people years to investigate, take steps to take the Yu family down.

Could you please elaborate on that quote?
