Sorry, do you mean Murong Sr may be blackmailed by PM Zhuan in killing FSG? In episode 24 preview, do you think that the emperor is trying to test FSG & officials’ loyalty by faking his terminal illness/coma? I was wondering if that stabbing/burial scene of FSG is after the death of the emperor or during?

Good points, I would think perhaps a combination of your theories 2 & 3 as I may have found it hard for Murong Senior to go through with 1. The way Murong Sr responded the PM Zhuang that FSG should be the emperor & not the second prince makes me think that there may be some hope with Murong Sr of talking MY out of his grievances. Like you have indicated, it may be a fake stabbing to expose all the villains. I do think that Murong Sr must know the reason why the emperor wanted him to guard the north border because the north is strategic for Chinese’s peace & security. In addition, the emperor trusted him & also perhaps wants to keep him safe away from the court’s politics. I recall that throughout Chinese history, China had always been attacked by the enemies from the north so what would the emperor do, employ the most trusted general in the north?

Well, I’m not so sure about MY creating the rift between him & FSG to save his best friend . How does that justify this when we will watch the scene where he will stab FSG with his father strangling him scene? I get his resentment towards FSG but how can he resent FSG when they are both children & no decision in the matter? MY is ambitious & he may choose the wrong path unfortunately.

Yes, the end of ep 18 indicates that things are about to go down badly for both FSG & FYX, with the emperor being poisoned ( either by the empress or her father, the prime minister? ) to eventually die from it? FSG will be stabbed by his best friend & burried, FYX will dig him out of the hell hole & will try to save him with the help of his Dr lord Ding. It will be events packed.
