It depends on the role. Here in the drama, the FL is 3 years elder than the ML. So the actress seemingly looking elder than the actor, shouldn't be a big deal. Also male actors being many years older to their female co stars is so normal in the industry. At the end of the day, the actors playing the characters should fit, here I think they do. Yes, important is chemistry, but here the leads did not have so many scenes till now, in order to understand that part well. But I get you, no offense, everyone has different tastes, I was just sharing my perception.

In the novel, many years before the actual timeline, when Cao Yan's elder brother was young, he was under Wei Military for training as a soldier. He did not maintain military decorum so he was punished/thrashed/beaten, which lead to his death. That lead to Cao Yan wanting revenge against Wei.

Marrying brother's wife is not very common in noble families, if it was wife's sister, that wouldn't be a problem. That was how the society was, rules were a disaster. Honestly in the novel, FL did marry ML's brother properly like in a ceremony, still they were able to pursue a love affair, which was actually interesting. Here, in the drama, the marriage is only like a declaration, so I don't think it would be much of a issue. Hoping they follow the novel's route, so there would be not much angst at least among the two leads.

The reincarnation plot was only in the novel. The synopsis here is a copy paste from the novel. Its incorrect here. There is no reincarnation in the drama. So the FL has never eloped with another man. Here, its just her ex boyfriend. The drama starts with the marriage of her ex boyfriend with another woman, and her first meeting with the Wei Brothers.
Wei brothers, except the ML/7th brother, die along with their father, and 70k soldiers in the battle. In the novel, after the reincarnation, FL chose not to elope and marry the eldest Wei brother. In the drama, there was no such marriage between them. FL proposes to him in public, only for her own motives, in order to find a traitor in the armory where the elder brother is in-charge. Though society thinks they are a couple, they were just friends privately, and the elder brother was just helping her. In episode 3-4, Wei brothers, father die, ML survives and Wei family is accused that they lead to the death of 70K soldiers, by rushing behind enemy, and taking an offensive approach. FL decides to become a part of Wei family, so that when they rise again, she can find out the traitor. So she lies to all of them, that elder Wei brother promised FL marriage, after coming back from war, so she cuts her hair and declares her marriage to his corpse, declaring she would be a widow for him all her life.
FL tries to bring ML out of prison, and wants to return their glory to them, so that she can achieve her mission. ML distrusts FL. ML is 3 years younger than FL ( in the drama )

I don't know, this is my first drama of hers! I thought she is pretty. Maybe to navigate her character or what the actress wants to portray, I will have to watch few more episodes.

The plot is a little weird though. If the rebirth is not there at all, then there was no need of the ex boyfriend, I mean they could have just kept his character, and not make him her ex boyfriend. Also though the FL looked pretty during the sword dance on the roof, there is something strange about her, maybe its the character not the actor, but I am unable to figure it out. Maybe we should few more episodes to decide.

Okay there is no rebirth plot. FL has a ex-boyfriend. She gets married to the corpse of ML's brother, more like a declaration in front of society. She and ML's brother were just good friends, and FL just wanted his help to investigate and bring out a traitor that almost destroyed FL's family. She and ML's brother had no pact to get married, but she lies to all so that she can achieve her goal by entering the Wei household.

So Miseon has got herself a boss, whom she bosses around, gets angry on, scolds, and he follows her around like a puppy, trusts her the most, makes her coffee, calls her pretty, fixes her bow, hair thus almost becoming a personal stylist. How to be Miseon?

If they FL actually doesn't get married to ML's brother, but only pretends to, then that would not be morally wrong. Then the forbidden trope doesn't fit. Yes they might show that society thinks she is married, so its not allowed. I think this would be cleared in first few episodes only, so maybe we have to wait for few hours more. Let's see what they do. Thank you!

So in the novel, FL marries someone, but when she gets reincarnated, she marries ML's elder brother, and he dies, and then ML and FL fall in love?

Here, there is no reincarnation, so FL might have an ex boyfriend or something, but then will she get married to ML's elder brother? Because as per I remember, in a teaser or trailer, the ML tells FL that she is not his real sister in law, so does she fake it or something, just to be part of the household of ML? But in that case that would completely negate the forbidden love story, because if she is not his real sister in law, then she can easily date him.

Anyone who read the novel, does it have a happy ending?

Probably I had said it earlier, but while rewatching it again, I felt the sudden urge to repeat it- The princess deserved what she got. I generally like complex personalities, I sometimes even take the heart to understand the perception of villains. But this woman. She could have died and I wouldn't have batted an eye.
My only negative point for the drama was she and the love triangle she had with the brothers.

I also loved the fact that he took the bag so she will walk with him. Then when she asked where they were going, he taunted her what do I know, I am too emotional!! Then FL saying now you're holding grudges. The entire sequence was so funny! Love them.

The preview of ep 7-8 released today is so cute, I just live for these heart-warming moments.
Also in the end of ep 6, when the preview was shown, about the whole Thailand trip, my first thought was do they have passports, I mean ML can have he was a rich kid, but the FL. But then I was like its just a drama, they don't have to show that. But in today's preview they even showed the picture clicking moment, receiving visa passport, also added a cute romantic scene, making it so much better. The level of detailing is great. Also I would consider getting a passport and going to Thailand a win (for those who were crying that they don't have wins, you need to have patience, small wins lead to a big one, if you expect them to have all the success in 6 episodes, what are they going to do in other 10 episodes, play chaebol-chaebol).
I think this might be my favourite drama of 2025.

Though I don't know the promotions of exactly which brands offend you, but because this drama is based in 1997-1998, all the issues are of that time period. I have not seen a single brand promotion in this drama ( at least till ep 6 ) because it wouldn't resonate with those times. So I guess you can give it a watch.
