I agree this was easier and less time consuming. But that one was too cool, the sequence was written nice, these things would also have added how she is brilliant in leading a troop defeating enemies, even raiding. Adds to her upcoming general persona.

In the novel, there was no punishment. Firstly FL did not use Sui Yuanqing as a bait there. She hunted a bear, went to enemy camps with soldiers, defeated few of them, looted salt, meat, etc like a bandit. It was really cool.
Because she was not officially part of the military, hence she was not bound to follow their rules. But she put in risk her and many other soldier's lives, who had to follow her and carry out her orders. This was unauthorized, so ML berated her personally. She understood her mistake, and Gongsun made ML realize that though the move was reckless and she could have been hurt, nothing bad actually happened. So both of them apologized to each other.

There are people who are saying that Wei Yan could know, enemies could know, she would be in danger. I mean everyone in the world knows, even mountains and rivers in Switzerland know by now that Changyu is Marquis's wife. If Wei Yan doesn't know then his spies are the dumbest people in the world. I just think its an excuse used by ML.
She has been more in danger due to the fact that she doesn't know the truth.

Same. I do like green flag coded guys in dramas. But these days we have enough of them. So Xie Zheng was never hated by me, he just had flaws. Its a character, he is not perfect, has flaws so what, doesn't mean he cannot truly love FL.

This trope is really weird, I mean thrash the ML to guilt trip FL? What, lol. I mean I don't know if Xie Zheng will get those 20 lashes or not, but soon there will be 108 lashes, poor ML he will be injured for more than 3/4th of the drama.
In the novel, after the 108 lashes, there were 50-55 episodes remaining, where he did not get injured so much, but in the drama, he is injured most of the times.

He also doubts that she might be in love with the poor sweet boy whom she saved in the snow, who was her matrilocal husband, Yan Zheng. He feared she will never love the real powerful scheming Marquis Xie Zheng.

Such an unnecessary scene. They could just have followed the novel here, where ML berates her personally. Because actually even if I understand that they want to show how FL should understand military rules, the next thing she does after receiving her punishment, is drugging her husband and taking his place in the war, so clearly the punishment didn't teach her anything.

This exactly, he was such a sweet baby to Changyu in the initial episodes. But he was really not like this in the novel. Since the first chapter, Xie Zheng was never a "nice sweet poor guy". He was really arrogant and dominant. That is why the forced kiss in the novel was also believable. I saw people saying how he could have the dam burst idea, it would kill innocents? I mean ML was a scheming, calculative general, he cares about results not about collateral damage.
But yes he did truly love FL and changed his character a little but only in front of her, though I think it was minimum change, he never had a drastic transition in love.
I even remember he said to FL, till he is alive, she will never bore anyone else's child. When they were separated, he even had thought that if not in life, maybe in death they could share a grave, hence even thought of ending his life with FL. So he was never a sweet green flag coded guy.
I have no problem with them softening him, because these days complicated MLs are hated by audience, but then as you said his real personality is being altered in every episode due to this.

Yes based on the previews, the identity reveal of ML in front of FL happens; starts in the end of ep 26 and continues in 27 to show the aftermath. High chances the episode tomorrow will end in a cliffhanger.

No he was right there. He even shouted when she brought her knife out, he thought she would kill him. Why would he suddenly leave that place when Changyu is there. The entire sequence was a little riddiculous. Even his personal guard could have said without the Marquis's order we cannot let you take him away. When ML heard he could have stopped it earlier as well, but he and the counsellor enjoyed the drama. Maybe ML realized later that the idea was not as such bad, but because she did something huge unathorized hence going by the military rules there should be a punishment. This is what I understood.

Yes it doesn't happen in 29 either based on the preview. So my guess is maybe 31-33. In the novel it was just for 2 weeks so, short breakup.

Its not their lack of security. Its because they did not want to stop Marquis's wife I guess, or they did not have the authority to stop her.
