Its China, its probably going to be just a dream! But if you have a thing for strong leads, who are very cunning, who can manipulate people, and palace politics, you are going to enjoy it!
The novel is amazing, and if they adapt it nicely, it should do wonders! Like I love revenge sagas, my favourite has to be The Double, but the plot of this drama is better, if they can execute it like the novel!

Honestly everything I wrote, is not because I am a fan! I have just seen one modern drama of Wang Hedi ages back, and I watched Meng Ziyi only in Blossom! I liked the actors because I have seen them a lot in Variety shows! So this is not a fan perception, I have just written what I thought neutrally!
Also people have perceptions, not everyone has to agree with you and me! But some people have just declared a toxic war. Both the actors are getting so much hate for so many things! I feel an actor should only be criticized for their acting skills, but hating on them continuously is so bad for such stupid reasons. Its like people need a face to direct their hatred into, and thus actors become soft targets! And I am not just talking about this drama!

Legend of the female General had equal billing! But ig because both of them were not traffic stars, it did not cause such uproar!

Honestly I read the novel 7 months back, at that time I had no idea it was getting adapted or who the actors were, but because XJX was such a complex but very attractive character, I really thought that in the first 100 chapters, why is he not a lot there! So if the script writers can increase his prominence a bit, without diminishing the light of FL, and not show her as damsel in distress always to just hype ML, but keep what it is in the novel, then I don't see a problem!
Both Wang Hedi and Meng Ziyi are good cast choices, and I think they will do a good job!

I don't understand the ruckus with the billing thing! As far as I know, billing has nothing to do with who has the more prominent or titular role! Like the story might be based on the male character or the female character, but that's not how billing happens! Billing depends on who brings the more investment, or who can shoulder the investments! For a S+ drama, they need an actor who can take the responsibility to deliver one, on whose track records, popularity, fandom, producers can trust their money! You can say its misogyny and the ones leading the project should be billed first, but that's not how it works, ig in any entertainment industry, this is business!
Novel readers can say a women lead novel being adapted to a drama with multiple changes, like making the male character more prominent, is bad! I don't disagree, but then the producers needed to cast a female actor who is more famous than Meng Ziyi. This is not a shade to her, I am just saying what I know, Wang Hedi is more popular actor than her.

My personal opinion- This will still be a story of a woman seeking revenge! They are just going to make ML's character a little more prominent. As someone who read the novel, ML in first 100 chapters wasn't really there a lot, so Ig they must have added him there! I feel people should just wait for the drama to release, criticizing it from the first day of shooting without knowing a single thing is really wrong! At the end, not everything is in the hands of the actors, there are bigger stakes involved! Billing first or second or last, if an actor is dedicated to their craft, they will do a good job! They already have a very good script, so lets see and hope they don't make changes that will ruin the script!
Rebirth plot is getting changed into a dream, because its China! I really think if they adapt it well, while giving prominence to ML's role a little more, it won't be detrimental!

Also the English title- The General's wife, is probably fake, original networks, official channels did not use the name, its just some melon on social media! Titles in cdramas get altered even before one month of airing! But if they keep this English name, I will be against it, because they get married in the last quarter, and their marriage had nothing to do with revenge!

I have seen the works of both of them before, and I feel they will do a good job. They are friends who are acting together, let the shooting period be a good phase for the actors, and for the fans who are excited to see them together!

Crown Prince is brought up under the care of Empress Dowager, but he is not her son! Empress Dowager doesn't have children. Emperor/ML is her step son! Crown Prince is Emperor/ML's son!

SML was a good person in the novel. No SML is not from the real world. About why SML is no longer a good person, so either SML was never a good person but was always pretending and because he was able to defeat the tyrant king hence people considered him as a good person never truly recognizing him or his methods. Or with the transmigration of ML and FL, change of plans and choices, lead to change of fates making SML a bad person.

Exactly! In fact its not even out of character. Like I think Peyi and Huaijin are both displaying traits of what they have been always. Peyi was always reckless, plus such a deep trauma, I don't blame her for trying to kill the man, because she has been risking her life in every freaking episode, she is like that! But what Huaijin did is absolutely his character as well, he is the practical one, calm person who thinks before doing something! Plus because she is his fiancee now, its more obvious that he would try to stop her being this reckless! Its like watching the person you love walking into fire pit, who would have allowed that, would Peyi sit and watch if ML did something like that?

Honestly, I really feel if Peyi was a man, and he broke up with the girl after dating her for one episode, when the girl did so much for him, people would have bashed the hell out of him, regardless of the reasons! Most of the people are like wow Peyi is so cool, Huaijin is so timid! I am pissed ff on such people! Like can these people really not see Huaijin's intentions! Huhh!

So true. I know Peyi loves him, but now like currently after episode 29, the writer totally made it as if she is using him, which I believe is not true, but it seems that way! Huaijin did the absolute right thing, and I am just shocked how most of the people are criticizing his character, even saying Peyi deserves someone who will burn the world for her. Yeah lets do every reckless thing, and then die happily! Poor Huaijin has been protecting her since he was a child! Like saying something to someone in a rage is one thing, but even after calming down, if she felt he fears her implicating his family, is so bad, when he has always supported against his father's pleas! My heart broke for him! And if she did it because she is worried that she would implicate him then its noble idiocy, which I am totally against!

Exactly! I do not want to criticize Peyi because I do understand her rage! But she is being very reckless and this will lead to nowhere! Huaijin was absolutely correct!

No he didn't, you would see them 2 episodes later!

Its not pathetic when MLs rescue FLs throughout cdramas? Lacking self defense skills does not make someone pathetic, especially when that guy has been poisoned for 10 years, has a weak immune system, has terrible headache, and a terminal illness!

No its not, from the very first episode, they are partners, have a good friendship and then fall in love!

They lived a long time together. They even had children. But the poison made his body weak, so he died 10-15 years earlier than FL. But its not like he died young, he and FL lived together, fulfilled all their wishes. That's why when he died he was surrounded with love as well of his wife and children, stark contrast to when he came to this world all alone and lonely!
He transmigrated back to his middle school days. FL died of natural causes later after ruling for years, and their son became the next emperor. She went back to the subway. ML was now the CEO of her company, they met and reunited.

True. He really stands out in every character he does. But especially here because he has taken the role where he stands at back but still managed to convey everything.

Just one thing, FL's father cannot be former emperor's brother, because that would make the current emperor, FL's cousin, but it has been repeatedly told that current emperor is her uncle and he cares for her like his daughter.
