Poor Meng Meng. Her parents are actual assholes. How do you find out a teenage girl masturbates and your solution…
Yeah, I agree with you. I don't think she initially had a sex addiction. It was her parents overblown reaction to what she did that made her feel empty and lose her self worth. She was looking for validation in the relationships that she pursued. She was already neglected by her parents, (as evidenced by how they couldn't be bothered even taking her to school, poor thing) and had an emotional void in her life, that could only be filled by her parents positive attention and affirmation. They basically killed their child.
I don't know what the big deal is in discovering that your child has sexual desires. She's growing up to be a woman, this is just a normal part of transition. They are her parents, it's not as if they never had sex themselves! Instead of just joking about it and helping her transition, they stymied her, making her feel dirty and ashamed. And who the hell can function with cameras trained on them 24 hours a day 365 days a year? No wonder she went mad.
There are some people who are not cut out to be a parent . I feel sorry for ML. His father failed miserably at…
Yeah! He was actually jealous of his son getting the commendation of 'Miracle Doctor'. As a doctor I admire him, but as a father and husband I can't help despising him. He views his son as competition just because he successfully treated someone?
since it's basically a cut scene not sure the exact steps they took to bring down the guy, they only tarnished…
Yeah, you raise very valid points. I wonder if privacy laws in China are the same as the West. Or are all bets off because she is deceased? Still, they shouldn't have posted her picture all over the net.
why RXZ told his son that TT is his daughter? I mean srsly why? I keep thinking the scene TT and RTZ are both…
If he does, I will reach into my screen and smack him at the back of the head. Honestly, RTZ needs distance away from his parents, as much as he loves them, he really should move out either go abroad to study or go somewhere else and face the world on his own terms.
My brother in my home country only has one son and he has so much hope and wish for my nephew. And my sister-in-law…
Good point. I've found that in family with more children, parental expectations are spread between their offspring. But it doesn't always mean smooth sailing for those kids, because comparing a deficient child to his/her 'perfect' siblings is also a recipe for disaster. Parents should allow kids to blossom to their truest selves and stop trying to live vicariously through their kids by putting all their ambitions on their children. This will take off a lot of pressure on these kids.
Yeah i think right after that he noticed her because she took all the blames to protect him that’s one of the…
I agree with you. Plus I think his mom spoilt him by constantly 'protecting' him from his dad so he's looking for that quality in a female partners. What's the saying again? Men marry women like their mothers while women look for men like their fathers"
I also didn't like how the writer made the ML's relationship with MM. It was very misleading from the start. I…
Yeah she also died off camera. Not saying I want to see her jump, but they should have shown more of her struggles than just sitting in an empty room staring into space. Even her screams were off camera. This need to sanitize everything due to censorship doesn’t allow the viewers to fully empathize with her death.
Prof Ren is a fantastic doctor and mentor but a terrible father and a so-so husband. The things he says to his…
Spot on analysis. Sad to say, he’s like this because she enables him. He would change if she puts her foot down on certain things, but she always gives way to him and to their son. I can’t believe he was comfortable selling their house to fund his project, not like he paid the mortgage in the first place, anyway.
Honestly though, I consider this to be one of the most romantic confession I’ve seen in a Cdramas, kdramas air jdrama. The spontaneity, the ordinariness of the location just made it more real, matter of fact and authentic. I’m not going to forget this confession, for a long time.
The rest of the episodes: I loved TT and RTZ story in these two episodes. To me their story and relationship feels…
Sorry to say this, but my observation is, if the woman chases the man, she runs the risk of always being the ‘giver’ in the relationship. Their history explains why, though they have a good marriage, her husband is more reserved and takes her for granted; while she’s the pushy one in the relationship, and the one that keeps on sacrificing. Also why after so many years of marriage, she feels uneasy that her husband is going to see his first love. I wonder if the ‘coldness’ he has towards his wife spilled over to his relationship with his son.
The thing is, MM staying at the Ren's was supposed to be temporary as her parents were supposed to be part of…
What pissed me off is that RTZ’s parents, who are qualified TCM practitioners, just left MM for their son to treat. RXZ knows his son is not an experienced practitioner, yet he never once interfered to give his son advice on how to handle his patient. And as for RTZ’s mom, she’s more concerned that her son doesn’t develop a romantic interest with MM, than she is about MM’s healing and well being. Which means that the only one who truly cares about her mental health, is the inexperienced doctor RTZ, and to a lesser degree, TT. Which is a recipe for disaster.
The thing is, MM staying at the Ren's was supposed to be temporary as her parents were supposed to be part of…
Regardless of whether he feels guilty or not, his responsibility as a health practitioner is to give her coping skills to deal with different scenarios, in the event that they were separated, as they eventually would be. If he was a psych doctor, therapies might include counseling, role playing or just running through feelings and scenarios like asking the patient how they felt when they were faced with adversity and getting them to open up about their feelings and thoughts. Instead, all RTZ did is just bring her home and become her mouthpiece, her comfort blanket whenever MM was disturbed. None of his behavior was directing her to cope with the return to normalcy and that’s why I think he’s disqualified from treating her in any professional capacity. So, this begs the question, why would you entrust a patient to a ‘doctor’ whose actions formerly endangered the life of that patient? MM existence is and should be more than just being there to assuage RTZ’s guilt. The script did her dirty by using her as a plot device that is there simply to pave the way towards RTZ’s maturity. If there’s an example of all the wrong ways medical professionals should relate to their patients, this is a prime example. The blurring of lines between patient and doctor, so you don’t know if the doctor has feelings for his patient is just shoddy script writing. If MM’s parents were too busy to be bothered for a holistic’ treatment, then either return said patient to parents or let her go the traditional route of finding a therapist to treat her. After all, she was initially responsive to RTZ’s mother before he came into the picture. Stands to reason she may connect with an empathetic therapist.
I enjoyed parts of the lecture, particularly the body-mind-spirit connection. It could have been more concise…
I also think the father mentioned them taking her to a psych hospital where she was given electro (shock) therapy and she reverted to her current form after that treatment.
