Good point. I suspect her mom passed away because her dad was too busy solving ML’s mom’s problems which adds to her grief and stress so it’s not just the bullying that she endured. It’s no surprise that she hurts because ML’s presence reminds her of painful things she’s rather forget, but she’s in love with him.

I agree. It makes viewers lose interest as they will find more available dramas to watch, hence the low ratings.

My one complaint is that Viki should have dropped all the episodes at once instead of doling it out one episode per week.

I actually find this couple compatible in a way that was realistic and worked for me. FL is really beautiful underneath her no-nonsense person with a beautiful bone structure.

Thank you! For once, an objective comment. Never understood all the hate the FL is getting on this website. How can you hold FL responsible for a decision ML made on his own? When he even came to see her in Seoul, when they were younger, she drove him away. She’s made it very clear to her dad, her friends and to ML that she wants nothing to do with anyone who reminds her of her earlier life when she was scarred by being an outcast, the brunt of everyone’s comments derision and scorn.

All of you who are calling the FL a red flag, have you ever experienced discrimination? If you have, then you will understand the hurt and pain the FL is carrying and understand that she’s a sympathetic character. As insular and homogeneous Korea is, FL has always looked in the mirror to be reminded that she’s different. If she’s not careful, she may end up despising her face, her skin, her eyes and her freckles. Everything about her that makes her different from everyone else, and the target of the town’s scorn, mockery and gossip. Don’t forget that weaker people have committed suicide because of systemic bullying.

I’ve watched documentaries of foreign kids growing up in S. Korea, and their challenges and struggles growing up different in a racially homogeneous society, is a lot. So for FL to give up the only life she’s known and the one person she loves intensely, there must be a powerful motivation to do so. So let’s have some empathy for this character. I dare to say, if I grew up the way she did, I would be as angry. And she didn’t take out her anger on folks, she left for a better life. And returned because of work.

And you are drawing inferences from reading the synopsis. I prefer to wait to watch the drama and see how it unfolds. Plus it doesn’t matter if a woman has more than one relationship over the course of her life, it doesn’t make her a slut. You, on the other hand, sound like a woman hater with all your comments. Why don’t you scream as loudly in dramas where women are supposed to be ‘as pure as virgins’ and the men are the ones ‘sleeping around’? If you have this much problems by just reading the synopsis, then why are you watching the drama?

You keep repeating this point, but have you seen the FL date anyone except the ML? If the shoe was on the their foot and the ML was the one who went to Seoul , would you make these comments about him sleeping around? Your comments are reading hypocritical.

Yeah, when they were entering the elevator, I thought, they look good together, like a family. They are friends and have a good relationship and their kids are friends too! Everything is compatible and works. Hope he doesn't destabilize things just because he falls in love. But where would the drama be, if things don't get messy?

Regarding Bai Xi - I'm amazed that a father who loved his daughter so much could let her leave with a Taost monk without any arrangements to check up on her or at least see to her welfare. I get that she could no longer live with the family, but what about sending a servant or two to go along with his underaged daughter and ensure she settles down properly and then brings back word to the family? This, to me, is a gaping plot hole. Unless they're missing gaps in the narration which would be exposed later?

Good points. I can't imagine how much more impactful the drama would have been if Leo Xue Yi reprised his role as Fan Yue and to be honest as much as I love Bai Yu, the original actress for this role (in Ancient Love Poetry) would have added continuity to the plot and helped the viewers link it to the original roles.

Ao Rui Peng's performance seems kind of bland to me although I liked him well enough in Blood of Youth. It's like he's going through the motions with no emotional impact. Thank goodness for Bai Yu's performance!

SML always looks like he's on the verge of tears in every drama I watch him in regardless of the role.

Can I describe this as a drama in which the SML is>>>>>>>>> hotter than the ML? I’m having serious SML syndrome. His honesty, integrity, loyalty, elegance and back story just moves me to tears. Honestly having trouble understanding why FL is so devoted to ML when there’s such a hottie like the SML on the scene. PLEASE let him remain good and not go over to the dark side.

Everyone is missing the elephant in the room. If the fake Paik Sa Eon is grandpa’s biological son (albeit illegitimate) and he is NOT related at all to the presidential candidate, then the current President candidate, is NOT a member of the Paik family. And THAT is the real scandal. Otherwise the dna result should indicate that they are half brothers.

So the real question is who are the parents of the presidential candidate? What other family secrets are there in the Paik family. Twice, it has been hinted that the presidential candidate had nothing in common with his father.

Or maybe the dna report is entirely fake???
