Royal Tramp 2008 was such a fun watch
I tried the 2014 version and it wasnt as good
The Legends 2019 is a nice watch
In Time With You 2011 and most unpopular Japanese dramas usually qualify haha
I liked Moto Kare a lot but finding good subtitles is impossible

It is not certainly not some masterpiece I will give you that.
It is just like a gag manga.
Maybe I was too distracted by them dancing Oppa Gangnam style but the story didn't come off to me as a dude flirting with every woman that he met.
Let's chuck it up to us having different definitions of flirting.
For me this were the highlights of the drama
- His making near 100 proof Alcohol which lead to perfume business
- Poultry : how the birds eating the limestone wall helped them get required calcium in their diet to make their eggs harder to crack. I actually used that in our family farm.

It is understandable and I have to agree that I found him a jerk.
I guess with Me Too Movement, I am even more aware that jerk male leads are not acceptable but I think I gave him a pass because I watched this before about 7 years ago and I have seen him in other dramas like Vivid Romance.
He seemed like a jerk but he was reacting to off handed remarks by her which struck a nerve.
I recommend Vivid Romance

I watched the drama and that certainly wasn't what I watched
The Princess could kill him, he didn't exactly chase her.
If I recall correctly, he was more married off rather than chasing after other women.
If this was Royal Tramp then I would agree that he chased after women.
The major plot of the story was him using modern inventions in the past and becoming aware of the disastrous consequences eg mass murder

Thats why I like Jin Yong stories like Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre. Zhao Min was pretty cruel to the protagonist family. Same with Zhou Zhirou but none of them were demonized.
Legend of the Condor Heroes is not much different, Huang Rong the female lead is no saint either. She could be considered as cruel
The Legends 2019 I enjoyed since the female lead spent most of the drama trying to kill the male lead haha

I loved the second female lead character. Tragedy and trauma can affect us. I liked how their relationship(with the male lead) ended. Instead of the usual evil supporting female villain getting her comeuppance we got a hug and tears.
Demonizing female supporting characters is just lazy writing

Well, the characters are complicated. I liked this show because instead of evil supporting characters. It focused on the mental health and growth of the characters.
I like that instead of external factors affecting the characters, it was all internal.
No one was evil, everyone was just human with their own personal demons.
Some things might be cultural and you could miss it
so websites like dramabeans.com do help with their recaps but I disagree with them most of the time, especially since they wanted a supposedly evil female character to get punished for being human.

I think you are being too hard on the show, I don't see Palace dramas getting the same criticism
There are three women in the show

1 His wife
2 The princess. It is hard to call him a playboy when he didn't really have a choice in this matter
3 The maid. He was more amusing her at first.

He was in no way comfortable with a harem or even his own wife at the start.

Hahaha, do you want a drama with just saints? I admit that that female villainess trope is old but sadly it works.
Having it doesn't exactly make the story automatically bad.
I enjoyed it mainly because we are supposed to see how the main characters reacted to challenges
The male lead was weak at the beginning unlike the female lead

I doubt there was ever a season 3. I think it was the movie that was announced. Even if they came back, there isn't really anything left to tell.
I skipped to the final chapter of the book, the translation is poor at best. Sadly, it seems that the drama producers did not read the book.
It was obvious that the true villain was the head of the righteous path but everyone was acting blissfully ignorant

Hahaha I usually avoid Palace dramas because all the female characters I like get killed.
I am watching Love That Lasts Two Minds though and dreading the end already haha

Just watch the movie if you want closure
I think it will be like Nirvana on Fire season 2 with a whole new cast of actors and actresses
