So, same-sex relationship is acceptable to you but teacher/student relationship is not ?Talk about hypocrisy.…
Teenagers at 16 might not ready for a serious relationship/married life but they are "matured enough" sexually...if you know what i mean. For the sake of discussion let's pretend they are at the same age. Would that be a problem if they have sex? And while not watching this drama I don't think this is about that. It looks more platonic to me and most probably more into pure love.

Fetish-izing the age gap might not be the right term for this kind of theme...but more of fetish-izing "mature" partner if that makes sense. That's why the term like MILF exist in the first place. So the POV is always from the younger one towards the older, not the other way round.

Is this Japanese produced or is it a Western show i.e UK, US etc.
It's based on western book anyways so you may expect a bit of westernized historical Japan.

However if you love Japanese old culture, this might be a good opportunity to see things in higher definition. I mean the costumes, the armor, the castle, etc, is pretty amazing (judging from trailers) which we rarely get to see from the locally produced Japan dramas.

I was not planning to watch this at first but the last trailer looks more convincing and less westernized than the few earlier trailers they released....so might as well watch this.

I think there was misconception that this teacher/student only happened in Asian drama which is wrong

Of course I was talking about high school and so those western works. Making the "crush" become reality is what the movies/dramas are all about. It's a "fiction world" after all.

Your concern about adult/child relationship is a totally different thing. You said you already googled the age of consent in Japan. But people go to high school at 16, therefore there's no such thing as what you're afraid of.

Usually people find teacher/student relationship creepy is not because of adult/child but more of educator/student. Educator should be professional and not to mix their personal feeling in the job.

I don't know where are you from, but having a crush with your teacher is quite common everywhere in the world especially for teenagers coming out of age. Well to be fair more common to boys. They are many western works revolves around female teacher and male students if you want to do more research about it.

This is entertaining in terms of its production value as well as the acting performance. It also has less episodes therefore it is a focused drama without any unnecessary fillers. However the mystery part needed a lot more works to make it felt neat and made sense. There were too many disconnected dots that never been wrapped nicely at the end.

Where I can watch the last ep please tell.. dying waiting . It's not on dramacool yet
If you prefer torrent you can use Nyaa [dot] si.

If you prefer direct download you can get the RAW from dramahd [dot] me. doramax264 [dot] com is another choice for small size files (but with low res videos).

The easiest way is to register for drama-otaku [dot] com. You may need to wait for when they open the registration. There you can get the RAW videos together with subs at one place....or at least the info of how you can get your drama.

To be honest, I didn't read your article further than the fragment about the Japanese "host culture". You wrote…
Host Club is simply the male version of the original KabaKura (with female hostess). Their modus operandi is similar in which to make customers spend money buying alcohol. Those hosts or hostesses who managed to make customer spend more will gain the No.1 status. This is where the trap comes in, where the host could manipulate their customer to make them No.1. And therefore the good ol stories.

Actually the article you mentioned about female customer becoming prostitute is the classic case of the Host Club Scams. If you watch Jdramas like Shinjuku Swan, Yamikin Ushijima, Yamikin Saihara, it was the typical topic they show in the dramas.

If you look into broader sense, underground Idol is also somewhat similar with host/hostess club but with slightly different product to sell. Customers will want their respective OSHI become center, so they will buy merchandise, pour money into their OSHI. In the end of the day, these Otakus supporting the Idols will overspend the money and in the worst case had to borrow from loan shark.

The people behind would be the one who earn the most. In the case of club it was the Gang and Yakuzas.

I am somehow baffled about on what you have stated as cultural shocks and began to wonder which place/region/country(no…
For the chopstick part, I think the Author of this article was amazed with how people can eat rice beautifully without leaving a single grain, not that she shocked with the chopstick usage. That's actually understandable for someone who's coming from the place that use bare hands to eat rice (like people in my country, Malaysia). But of course for SE Asian we have Chinese descent here so eating rice with chopstick isn't that shocking...lol

Host clubs aren't nightclubs or cabarets though. They are places where you specifically go to be surrounded and…
She was right the host club is basically the "evolved version of cabaret club". And for the case of this article, the "host club" mention above is simply the male counterpart of the KabaKura (short for Cabaret Club with female hostess).

In case you're not aware of this yet, please know that dramacool is never the place where subbers put their subs. That website steal others work and put them on streaming without permission to earn money from ads.

I won't say you can't use dramacool but if you do, don't mention it in front of the person who subbed the drama as they will feel their effort and hard work are not appreciated.

You should go to d-addicts or drama-otaku to get the sub! You may need to register to these websites if you haven't.

Not bad drama definitely much better than its poster...LoL Don't expect too much on the investigation part if you want to watch it though.

This drama is amazing. You can't predict where it is going you have to stick with it until the last episode. The characters are also fresh and not stereotyped. It also has one of the cutest father-daughter relationships I have seen in dramas. I'm glad I watched it when all the subs have been released, or else the waiting for the new episodes would've killed me.

Good series with good production style although the first 2 episodes was kind of slow in terms of the pacing.…
1. The protagonist is unlike-able for almost all the time throughout the series. He was simply rude, lack empathy, no manners to almost everyone, kind of delinquent teenager. His character development only happened at episode 7 out of 8...lol can you imagine?!

I think should the writer used the cliche or a stereotype delinquent character, it could be a lot more easier for viewers to sympathize with him.

2. The female reporter character felt like cheap tool to neutralize the unlike-able protagonist. Her strange attraction to him was out of nowhere and unrelatable.

3. Other side characters in the dohyo felt like potatoes. Their names were confusing too, Enya, Enga, Enkaku and few others that almost look similar with big body and topknot.

4. The series was late to pick up its momentum as the real interesting part only came at around episode 6. Judging from the ending, there's possibility that the series initially could have more episodes but was cut short to give way for Season 2. Some characters like Ryuki and Male Scoop Reporter have no proper closure as well.

Good series with good production style although the first 2 episodes was kind of slow in terms of the pacing. I liked how it's truth to Japanese style instead of trying to be western since it's Netflix. It was interesting to see the culture, tradition, and ritual associated with sumo, getting featured in the series.

However my complain would be (spoiler below)

Pure slice of life movie. Not many dialogues but the story was told by the action. The pace is slow but the director knows how to make it not boring by injecting some dynamics in the otherwise mundane life of the protagonist.

Pretty entertaining with simple plot. 80's settings, 80's fashions, 80's hairstyle and interestingly shot in vivid colors. The writing is cynical but it includes perspectives from all people involved in the Japan film industry. Be careful not to watch this with family because it has unexpectedly long nude scenes....lol

If you want something different, this is it! It's interesting mystery with investigation but not scary and dark. It's also good in exploring journalism topic. The downside is that everything is shot around the same place throughout the drama and the production is not for those who prefer anything visually sparkling like in Kdrama.
