I wonder what if this drama is given to Kudo Kankuro solely instead of a joint-writing. I understand they might be targeting mass audience since it's netflix series, but this kind of set-up only works with crazy plot development and over the top comedy which Kankuro usually mastered like what he did with his other works. This drama however didn't reach to that level of ridiculousness, causing confusion to some audience who might have taken the characters and story too seriously.
Other than that I noticed the drama generously gave us plenty amount of distasteful and meaningless kiss scenes. It felt like they only shot the scenes just because they can since it's netflix.
All in all this is still watchable and still retaining Kankuro's traits in the writing and also included some tribute to his past works; Amachan and 11-nin. The story mostly cynical to Japan values on things.
I saw people praising Nishikido's character but you should know this character is meant as a pure parody of a stereotype in any infidelity drama. Messy hair, pushy, don't care on trivial details, work as artist in a studio, making love in studio. If you have watched some Hollywood classics you would be laughing at it instead of praising....haha. The thing is this character is the most unrealistic one.
Pretty decent drama. Somehow in the middle it turned into episodic drama before it returned back to the main plot after episode 8...lol. Despite being a multi characters story, this drama managed not to overwhelm viewers by only focusing on few characters at the beginning and only exploring some other characters as the drama progresses, although not everyone got a fair share of backstory.
Overall a good tribute drama. I'm not into Japan literature so I don't read any Japan Books but after a quick search on internet, I noticed that the scriptwriter managed to include some Rampo's writing traits in this fictional life story of Rampo.
There were few nice action scenes especially during the first episode, which I didn't expect to see judging from the poster. The drama also showcased beautiful 1930's settings and costumes.
However the usage of modern style face mask was a bit weird and questionable. The story from one episode to another was kind of disjointed and some information wasn't obvious unless you read the episode synopsis before watching.
It's an okay drama although it didn't start with a good first episode. It was confusing as hell with weird concept of screenwriter x lawyer. Thankfully it got better after that and the episodic cases were still interesting to watch, while the main big case kept me stay until the end.
The downside is the very unconvincing concept of screenwriter x lawyer. I know it's fiction but it failed to make me believe that it's believable. There were some minor plot holes in the main big case as well.
On a different note, I noticed the 法廷式 (hoteishiki) in the title might be a word play instead of a real word with real meaning. It's probably the play on 方程式 (hoteishiki) which means equation or formula by changing the first two characters into 法廷 (hotei) which means courtroom. Thus the poster highlighted these two characters.
So the "Victory Court Ceremony" isn't the intended meaning....I think. It's more of Winning Formula or Winning Equation which is referring to the collaboration of the two main characters.
This is good but definitely not the best from Sakamoto. There were some minor plot holes on the mystery part as well as few things that didn't make sense. But still an entertaining drama that makes you wonder what will happen in the next episode. The human relationship and characters writing are the best.
Wow! This one is amazing. Very interesting portrayal of the NHK in its earlier days. Kind of tribute drama but the efforts they put in the wardrobe, props and settings are commendable, considering how inaccurate (fictitious) the fashion and things could get in other dramas of the same era. Good writing with nice closing dialogue at the end. Acting was great!
Good taiga drama in telling the story of Shinsengumi and its members. I only have 2 issues that were bothering me:
1. Unconvincing protagonist character (Kondo Isami) and over power support character (Hijikata Toshizo) for 2/3 of the drama. Things got better and improved during the latter 1/3 though.
2. The drama failed to make me rooting for the Shinsengumi. Yes, I'm pro Imperialist, but since this is a drama from the POV of Shinsengumi I would've wanted to sympathize with them but I couldn't.
On the positive side, the support cast members were excellent so it compensated for the lacking points above.
Got to say that I loved this drama. It made me so nostalgic for instance, because it has a lot of references and…

The drama was risky because it has close to none younger actors in it as well as the nature of investigation by this fictional department that only do brainstorming to solve crimes (without going out to crime scenes). However they managed to make it funny and entertaining to watch. I would say they have the right formula that makes viewers stick to the show. Yeah strange but true.

The drama that focused on journalism. The pace was okay but there were mix of fast moments and dull moments. I would have liked it more if it has less dull moments. A bit preachy towards the end. Still an okay watch and it will worth your time.
Nothing is clearly said but : 1.- Sumire has an unrequited love for Kenta. But Kenta seems in love with Kiyo.…
The anime might not bad on its own and maybe you'll like it. To me the major difference would be the drama gave us that organic and human feel to the characters and stories, which the anime was lacking.
