This is entertaining as long as you don't take things too seriously. It was mildly horror with some jump scares, topped with gore elements and grotesque so be careful if you want to decide to watch this one. The mystery part however was a so-so and the humor was a bit cynical.

Feels more of an awareness campaign than a drama to be honest. But it's only 1 hour long and they included realistic cases instead of the stereotypical dramatized one we often see in dramas. Could've been better without the narration by Furutachi Kanji but nonetheless it's a good, non depressing watch despite being something about depression.

Thanks! I was thinking to create another one for specials but let's all under one list 😎
Just make it one list then :)

I'm not sure how to feature the list other than you manually post it on feed like you already did. Maybe you can also post it on JdramaClub thread in forum section....but forum is the least active section in MDL

This is an okay drama. Nothing great but nothing to hate at the same time. Overall It's a typical Japanese workplace drama with episodic format that might not be everyone cup of ramen.

However, the drama has that "nice overall feeling" with some funny and sweet moments. It is something you don't mind watching during family gathering...yeah that kind of drama.

Kudos to the prod. team for trying to include all sort of athletes and problems a management company might be facing when dealing with these athletes. Kudos to the child actors too.

Thanks for reminding me of some dramas that I still need to watch.Do you have any favorites from the 80s?
I only saw few dramas from the 80's. Some of them I watched in the childhood like Oshin, Moero Attack and Stewardess Monogatari alongside tokusatsu Ultraman, Gavan and Kamen Rider Black. But I don't know how to rate them now as my memories from childhood is very vague. Some months ago I watched the first episode of Stewardess Monogatari just to realized how bad the acting of FL was...lol

Thanks for doing all the research and writing this informative article. I haven't watched many dramas from the 90's decade, but those that I watched are all pretty good it's hard to choose the best one. Entertainment-value-wise GTO is unbeatable in my opinion but drama-wise I would go for Long Vacation.

Similarly the 2000's decade was full of interesting dramas. The Great White Tower was amazing, but teen dramas like Nobuta, Prodai, Boku dake no Madonna, Nodame et al were also fun and interesting. Then we also have epic drama like Jin, Mother and Keizoku SPEC. You see, it's so hard to choose one unless we break it down into categories...haha

I guess most dramas in my watchlist are from the last decade (2010-2020). So it would be 100 times more difficult to choose for the best. We have several Sakamoto Yuji's best writing in this decade alone. As I'm biased I would say Soredemo Ikite Yuku is the best drama from this era. Although I was crazily entertained by the craziness of Nobunaga Concerto, got heavily inspired by Juhan Shuttai, had my ROFL moment with Gomenne Seishun, and got mesmerized by Hanzawa Naoki.

I think there's one more category that Japan is good at making. That is the work/workplace dramas as well as dramas featuring rare professions. There are many to list from this category.

I don't find her annoying but definitely the character was not written properly with lack of logic and common…
No problem! Thanks also for reading and replying my comments and I really appreciate your thoughts on this one! :)

I appreciate your comments. I guess they only revealed the opponent is someone close to FL in these Ep15 and 16? I haven't watched the last 2 episodes yet but well...that's an afterthought kind of writing. I guess it depends on whether you have watched the other version or not. I still wish for a strong FL though instead of someone who's easily gave up over the things they should have loved from head to toe. Unless they never really love it from the start.

I understand the complexity of human. People do change their heart over time and I also know depression can makes you lose interest in what you're doing.

However an athlete should have a different mental training that differentiate them from common people. I just can't easily buy someone in combat sport to be very empathetic to their opponent. Otherwise they won't fit in the sport in the first place. So now they want to say it's because the Dad forcing her? Well...that's true in an afterthought way. But I would say the Dad has failed to prepare his daughter as an athlete let alone to fight for Olympics.

Parents trying to fulfill their dreams through their kids is nothing new or should I say a cliche. It happens everywhere not only in Asian household though. There's an example of successful dad like in Hindi movie, Dangal (2016) which is in fact based on a true story.

You say about winning gold medal with a cost of injuring friend. This is weird for Olympic level event as you fight for the pride of your country not as an individual. I guess the fellow athletes would be more than happy if that tragedy would brings back Olympic medals. Unless FL was the second choice or in reserve team and the friend was the ace. Well...it's still work in an afterthought way I guess.

You don't understand my point.
Not finding joy meaning she doesn't like Judo as much anymore which is contradicting with the premise. I know people change but in the story FL should be a Judo maniac not a Judo quitter. This is an adaptation not "original writing" so it's important to give justice to the original.

EDIT: To make things clear I questioned the logic behinds the guilty of making your opponent injured in a COMBAT sport.

Only me or you guys also think that FL is annoying and selfish ......First of all why did she quit judo?? she…
I don't find her annoying but definitely the character was not written properly with lack of logic and common senses. The reason she quit judo is because of her guilty-feeling for causing her opponent injury....can you believe it? You are in COMBAT sport and you feel traumatize by the injury of your opponent??

There are many unreasonable writings in this drama apart from the infamous Shin Dae Ryuk backstory, I don't know if I should open a discussion for it. I mean when this drama already received so many criticism, I don't want to add more salt on the wound.

The writers were clearly trying to outwit the original by making many changes. In original, FL had to quit Judo due to long term injury. She was a National Judo Athlete. Working in comic industry is her second goal after judo. It's so simple, logical and straight forward...which is the best.

In Today's Webtoon, they made FL uncertain with her future. Her obsessive father made the story arc felt more tiresome....although we know the father will later accept FL decision. FL is just happened to be hired as contract worker because for some strange reason the Chief Editor wants her despite the department is on the verge of closing.

Why did the writers have to make an abusive mother sympathetic when even in the j-drama adaptation, the abusive…
If I remember correctly, the mother never appeared in Jdrama. It must be "Kdrama magic"...lol

Yeah they kind of copy pasting the style of Kwon PD backstory, but that one was from the original so it was less…
That Kwon PD is much more logical if it's done right. People like Kwon PD are all over the place in real life, but obviously Dae Ryuk recovered in 5 minutes is more of a fairy tale.

Yeah they kind of copy pasting the style of Kwon PD backstory, but that one was from the original so it was less ridiculous. Although the writers missed the point of this Kwon PD episode as the redemption of his wrong doing. That's why they did another redemption for Dae Ryuk's mother...lol
Just pray they won't do the same trick for Director Heo in next episodes.

I actually thought this only has 12 or 14 episodes. It would've been better that way, imo.
Yes...12 episodes seems reasonable. And I think they should have concentrate more on the webtoon aspect. Yeah the romcom fans will leave/drop the show, but the true fans will stay. What they have now is half-baked. It's not even good slice of life, very bad at portraying webtoon production, and at the same time disappoint romcom fans by giving false hope...LoL
On Today's Webtoon Sep 11, 2022
So many people questioning about Sin Dae Ryuk.....lol these writers just thrown out bullshit to extend the story....from preview of next week we can assume everything will be resolved at the end magically...so just take whatever bullshit before that ending as a mere parody...don't take things too seriously as no logic writing ever existed since the very beginning.

I thought they were going to cover more chapters of the manga than what Jdrama have covered since the manga is still ongoing...but it looks like it will end roughly the same. But there's 2 more episodes so we wouldn't know.
