So many people questioning about Sin Dae Ryuk.....lol these writers just thrown out bullshit to extend the story....from preview of next week we can assume everything will be resolved at the end magically...so just take whatever bullshit before that ending as a mere parody...don't take things too seriously as no logic writing ever existed since the very beginning.
I thought they were going to cover more chapters of the manga than what Jdrama have covered since the manga is still ongoing...but it looks like it will end roughly the same. But there's 2 more episodes so we wouldn't know.
I wonder if these guys do not know what is marketing? Most of their plans are to write new webtoons instead of empower the promotion. This is very bad move as the artist won't be able to come up wit many ideas if they have to publish new chapter of every new titles every week. Having a studio like Artist Mo (the one who had conflict with Kwon PD in the past) is more bullshit. Why you want to subcontracting another company to produce more works when a webtoon company can handle all these artists directly.
I have no problem with the American Arc. I think it's important for the story and it was the premise from the…
Ohh...
About the Japan value VS West value. Yeah there's some disparity between the first half and the second in terms of the feel and acting direction a bit, but the writing was still consistent in my opinion.
About seeing Japan as the country who made Godzilla. Well...that's the stereotype people see on anyone who like Japan's Pop Culture. Usually the film fans. I don't see it as them disrespecting or whatsoever. Maybe the writer used this stereotype to write characters like Woody in the drama. And most probably this is the stereotype the Japanese came up with. I remember watching Nodame in Europe. There's one French Otaku character in that drama which obsessed with anything Japan and Anime.

Don't worry man!! I am not in favor with most of the US foreign policies too, and of course I do respect your opinion that's why I wrote my own review there. At least people will have the options and not be scared of watching. when they see 1/10 review
What you said about medical waiver is right, but I don't take it that deep that it was the propaganda. Most other countries will do the same depending on the case. As you can see Takeshi is given one way passport to return to Japan. If they want to highlight how cool the US they could have given him the Green Card.
Another thing to note is the story is based on Matsuo Satoru real-life memoir or whatsoever they call it, so we wouldn't know if his brother was indeed had been in that situation or not....or whether or not he has a brother that's passed away.
Personally, I hope they already finished with the filming. People keep turning it into a romance drama. I think…
This is a workplace drama but unfortunately we rarely see them working other than drinking coffee, chatting, eating...LoL I wish for no romance too but it seems like the writers don't know how to do work drama properly, they give hints of romance to cover their weaknesses.
To tell you the truth this series has started losing it’s steam! I absolutely loved Bakuman which is kinda similar…
Since you say you like Bakuman, have you read Juhan Shuttai too, the manga this drama is based on? There's J adaptation that makes more sense if manga industries is what you're looking for. This drama technicality on the work aspect is simply bad full of bullshit like you said they make bad guy just for the sake of being bad guy. LoL
I loved it until he was at the peak of his career and personal life. Unfortunately, his departure to the USA bored…
I have no problem with the American Arc. I think it's important for the story and it was the premise from the start as we can see from the synopsis. But I agree the American Arc was a bit lacking in terms of overall watching experience. Kusanagi looked a bit struggle with the dialogues although he did his best in giving the emotion.
Nakano Taiga's energy makes me smile. I appreciate his spirited character even more
He is such a great actor but unfortunately been overlooked by fans outside Japan. In my opinion he has the same acting vibe as Suda Masaki. He can go all over the top like in Yutori desu ga or Kyou Kara, but at the same time he can give you a heartwarming character like in this one.
There are many reference of anime, manga and artists in this one and I was like Yamaga, "Who's that"...haha
This is not just comedy. The story has essence and deep meaning behinds it. Honno's inner thought is basically the exaggeration version of how most of us think...but, we just don't want to admit it because it's embarrassing.
I see many people asking if the webtoons featured are exist in real life.
If you're not yet aware, this drama is adapted from a Japanese manga (read synopsis above). Most of the plots are from this manga and so do most of the "manga title" appear in the story. Maybe they do include some real-life webtoon, but as far as I notice all the webtoons the editorial team manage in this drama are the conversion from "fictional titles" that appeared in J-original.
Peeve Weapon --> same Princess Gumiho (Kor) --> Princess Horn (Jap) Please Time Machine (Kor) --> Onegai Time Machine (Jap) Women Baseball Webtoon (Kor) --> Shoot (Jap) soccer manga Mr. Baek Historical Webtoon --> Dragon something I don't remember the name (Jap)
However, those titles are typical enough in terms of the plotline that you may find the same story in the existing real-life webtoons and mangas, but with different name.
Disclaimer: I haven't read the original manga but I have watched the 2016 Japanese adaptation
I watched 10 eps and feel that this drama is pretty skippable, what do you guys think?
Not sure what is your preferred genre but even for slice of life the pace is a bit slow in my opinion. With this kind of pace it's either you make a movie or 30 minutes drama with more essence in the writing. One hour plus is really too much considering most of the time they are either eating, gossiping or drinking. I only able to watch this because I have watched the Jdrama version so I already know most of the plot (except some that this remake have made changes).
Yeah in the Japanese version, I feel like Shin Dae Ryuk’s storyline could’ve been handled better. I hope this…
I guess what they did in Jdrama is sufficient for this character because he was the side character and they wanted to portray him as the stereotypical genius artist who has that peculiar behavior. The main focus was not on his mental state although they did show his past trauma. As usual from Jdrama it is very straight to the point without over-dramatizing the situation. And not getting medical attention is sadly more realistic in real-life case too. Not everybody keen to seek medical help.
Episode 8 was probably the weakest up till now - it completely lacked direction. They touched on a few issues,…
That's the problem when you copy you friend essay and try to make it your own but fail. I noticed the writer changed the order of things of the incidents/story arcs so it felt less impactful as compared to the original.
They also changed the characters but failed to make it reasonable and logical. That's why in Shin Dae Ryuk case it feels like nobody care about his mental state. In Japanese original this artist is a bit dark with trauma past but no sign of suicidal. He is so motivated to become artist. Shin Dae Ryuk worked at hospital strangely. I wonder if anyone can work part time at hospital handling dead bodies like shown in this Korean drama. I mean with all the signs Shin Dae Ryuk shows.
Pomme wasn't in the Japanese version that's why the character and plot felt so Korean-ly chiche-ed. We haven't seen her webtoon yet ironically and it looks like she's having a lot of free time living in luxury...lmao
This is a bit hard to rate. It is not what you think it is. There is another synopsis online, but it doesn't describe…
After some research, the song has nothing to do with anything in the story. I was expecting there's some symbolism from the lyrics but upon checking the Japanese lyric it doesn't carry any related meaning. Sort of like random song the teacher chose on that day, and whenever the students hear the song they will remember the incident instead of the meaning of the song itself. It could have been a Metallica song if the writer wants...lol
Karma also doesn't work in this drama. Regret? They have a few...but then again too few to mention...I guess Sinatra's song would fit more than Kirinji's.
This is a bit hard to rate. It is not what you think it is. There is another synopsis online, but it doesn't describe what the drama is about. The one translated from Hulu up there also doesn't do justice in summarizing the drama. I guess you have to find out yourself.
Overall this is a bit philosophical but not too philosophical. It has that depressing vibe but not too depressing....lol
If I were to describe in one sentence, I would quote a line from the drama; "It's ordinary but not boring".
