To be fair, the main mystery was so-so, the writing was a bit off with some stuffs left unanswered at the end, the last 2 episodes were draggy and the concept of Psycho na Futari suddenly changed somewhere in the middle and the story turned into human drama....haha...not to mention the not-so-right background music
However, Takahashi Issei had saved this drama with his excellent acting...and it's still an entertaining drama that you can watch until the end without thinking of dropping....but far from being the best Japanese mystery or investigation or police dramas...overall 8/10 for the Takahashi's effort

It's not that I'm good in Japanese and I don't speak the language too but just a correction for "Watashi"...it's not female specific..male would use watashi too...I guess it's genderless but of course it's rarely used by japanese male in modern drama...informal female version would be "Atashi"
Funfact: Boku could be used by female too...there are some female songs that use Boku instead of Atashi in the lyrics
8.5/10 i finished it mainly for takahashi issei, i am so impressed with how masterful he is of feminine mannerisms…
Haha agree with the bad music...the background music selection was too dramatic it reminds me of Jin....well I liked BGM of Jin but I guess they got the wrong composer for the wrong drama
Overall just an okay taiga...but since it's a modern production it was more easier to watch unlike the 80's Tokugawa Ieyasu for example..I must say I'm not a fan of Yoshitsune's character but .can't complain much as it was written off the old manuscript Heike Monogatari that is originally verbal story telling...more legends and myths than historical accuracy
In my opinion Yoshitsune story-line in this drama only deserved a 7/10...apart from Tackey stiff acting I sometime felt annoyed with the narrator's accent especially the way she stressed the word SAMA behind Yoshitsune's name as though as he was an important heir of Genji...he was the last son of Yoshitomo and born from a mistress...casual SAMA (as in formal event) would do just fine
However, as I rarely watch drama set in Heian period, I found this series a bit informative in the sense that I've got to learn the events happened after the death of Kiyomori until the establishment of Kamakura shogunate...the involvement of ex-emperor Go-Shirokawa also added the dynamic in the overall politics at the time
Other than that, this series also has amazing support casts with excellent acting to make up for the lacking Tackey....haha...therefore in all fairness I gave this 8/10
This is a typical Japanese medical drama, but it could be "that drama" you're looking for...multi-generation characters, normal-ability-doctor, some management politics, past stories, searching for what is right in life, would be the focus of the drama plus some buddhism teaching along the story...nothing great but nothing bad that could put you off either. 8/10

If you're interested in J-historical you can try watching Nobunaga Concerto...it's short 11 episodes drama with a movie...and coincidentally, the timeline is close to Kirin ga Kuru...with similar characters involvement...but Nobunaga Concerto is very loose on historical fact and more on comedy

The poster and still images are amazing....and it looks like the producer wanted to experiment with fabric and colors...which is something new in Japan period drama...but they overdone it for sure...colors look good on posters (because it's re-touched in photoshop) but not so attractive and weird on videos...because they did not use any filters and furthermore they increased the saturation to the max...
Anyway, from the first 3 episodes I have watched...this drama was not bad in terms of the plot...we get to know the earlier days of Akechi and his less featured in drama hometown...the writing was also good so far and the interior design was amazing which tried to reflect the style of that era...
how is this for someone who dislikes long eps and has never tried Historical jdramas before?
If you want to start J-historical then Taiga Drama is not recommended...unless you are really into learning the history or want to see the interpretation of what has been written in history...in other words Taiga drama is strictly history-related...so the plot is basically known which could be cross checked with let say wikipedia (easiest way for us who don't have Japanese history book)...haha
