Yeah, this is a highly entertaining binge-watch material! Non just being Non but that was perfect for her role. It's black comedy mixed with cutesy, parodying "real life" with subliminally deep message in some part of the writing. Not sure how close is this with the manga though.

Basically a good drama with strong writing on some areas of the whole series. However they also tried to include as much social commentaries as possible, which felt episodic and preachy at times. Felt a bit sad that Nakayama Miho was not able to complete her role, at least until Ep5. The kids were doing great in this drama.

Wait, what? Sometani Shota, too? I must have blinked because I missed him. I'm going to rewatch this great show…
No. I just wish he was there, but he wasn't.

Review The Hot Spot
As a person who liked Brush Up so much, I totally agree with you! Too many familiarity while watching makes it less impactful to me. Loved the cast though it felt like a reunion than a new drama...lol

Title The Hot Spot
Basically a reunion of Shinnyushatachi and Brush Up Life. Wish Yoshida Yo, Usuda Asami, Mizukawa Azami and Sometani Shota made a cameo too.

The drama is a bit slow to pick up but gets better episode by episode. If you haven't watched Brush Up Life yet, watch HotSpot first for maximum impact.

Oh that's great to hear. I guess I need to rewatch the whole thing again. The last scene in the movie was a bit confusing to me. Rewatching can also re-affirm the SP situation.

Title Gold Sunset
It's a good human drama, but I wish it was shorter instead of dedicating 2 or 3 episodes for side characters that in the end did not give much to the main plot. The pace is slow though (typical WOWOW drama pacing), so it might not everyone cup of tea.

I guess the most important part of the SP is the incident happened to Aya's mother, as it will carried over to the following season. If you have watched until that point, consider yourself have completed the SP.

BTW, have you watched S2 and movie?

Does anyone have a link to watch? I found a torrent but that’s always a last measure for me lol.
If you go to the 2nd SP page above (the autumn one), there's user share the DDL link

It could be the 2 parts of each special have been combined into 1. So the total still be 4 parts which equivalent to MDL and Trakt info.

Furthermore, the synopsis on Trakt, is simply copy pasted from MDL. You can clearly see the "mother has collapsed" is shown as synopsis of Special 2 on Trakt but it was the synopsis for January SP on MDL.

Which makes the Trakt info is unreliable after all. Why? Because the thumbnail of SP4 on Trakt is actually the image of the collapsed mother in hospital.

That's why I think it's actually 2 SPs with 2 parts each but for some reason the 2 parts were combined so in the end we have "2 videos" only.

Ah it's interesting that the person you mention has blocked me so I don't know what you're talking about at first. Stupid her I can see her comment without login and she just shared the version subbed by SARS, which exactly the version everyone watched many many years ago.

I remember back then the SP never labeled as autumn or winter, so now I can confirm both SP should be referring to the same thing. They were 2 episodes released by SARS which I assume for winter and autumn each.

EDIT: Ahh I wasn't blocked. Stupid me! When I clicked the notification, some comments were missing. That's how it is on MDL. I should have known that. LOL

This is an okay drama (production wise). You might enjoy it if you are a fan of Mone, but the drama was too FL centric that the side characters were just there to build the narrative. The way the writer wanted to relate everything to shogi was a bit useless to viewers who know nothing about it (like me). This style of writing reminds me of Paripi Komei and Buntman, which I think a bit forceful in making the connection, i.e. Paripi - 3 kingdoms (ironically staring Moka), Buntman - baseball. Furthermore the cases weren't that interesting and the comedy was not for me. Perhaps you would enjoy it more if you're fan of shogi.

This is the second drama ended abruptly after EVOL that I watched from DMM. They should at least make some sort of conclusion before the S2 hint/cliffhanger. This one here felt like they are too desperate to make viewers watch the second season and subscribe to their platform.

On Talentless Takano Mar 4, 2025
This drama is unique in the sense that while Nanao is the main lead, she is not the main character. The story mainly written from the POV of Hiwada with focus on support characters in each episode. I see Takano's character is more like a mascot or a theme that other characters have to deal with in this drama. It's not important if Takano is real or not.

However besides Takano, other characters are well written with believable and relatable dilemma faced by the people who work in a company. I personally think this is a well made WORK DRAMA despite the weird concept and at times the try hard comedies.

Everything is good but have to be patient with Oda's (a bit annoying) character during the first half.

Title Sekigahara
In summary:
Sekigahara 1981 > Shogun 1980 > Shogun 2024

I made above comparison because both Sekigahara and Shogun have similar timeframe, i.e. post Hideyoshi death until Sekigahara Battle.
