Great sequel. I think this is much interesting than the Part 1 with the addition of Sato Koichi and Shiina Kippei. A bit more action and the bromance is also fire in this one. I mean "real bromance" not some censored romance disguised as bromance.
This movie is now streamable on 24/7 Samurai-Shinobi Youtube channel (formerly Samurai Vs Ninja). Catch it while it's free.
This is surprisingly good despite the poster (that looked a bit bland and boring). Not many action in this "Part 1" but the psychological state of Baian is interesting to watch/guess.

I was honestly really disappointed by the finale. They did such a good job making the JBN head seem like the key…
In this kind of plot in Jdramas, Mei's character will never beat the Overpower Abe's character.
Not a fan of the ending too. They were trying too hard to make the twist that they put photo of American soldiers without PPE on potentially radioactive site...LoL just for the sake of plot twist. The hint for S2 was kind of lame too cause we know even if we get S2 the real culprit won't be revealed in this kind of setup. The lame foot killer will be just another underling.
Not drama related, but my personal opinion about Japanese people with no offence intended: I think they really need to revise their understanding on the concept of God (and so the understanding of religion).
Japanese is the only community that uniquely born as Buddhist, live as Shinto, pray at random Shrine (of any religions), leisurely upgrade any random human/animal/object to God, married in Christian ceremony in Churches, celebrating Christmas eve with their lovers, but ending their lives as Buddhist (again).
I know I'm telling the "stereotype", but I pray that one day more and more Japanese would fully understand the true meaning of God.
engsubs are completed and available on drama-otaku and avistaz.
Thanks a lot for subbing! Otherwise I would not aware the existence of this drama...LoL As a first project, you did very well IMO. Keep up the good work. Hopefully we will see more projects from you in the future.
LOL please don't get me wrong but this one was just another tayousei crap disguised as a ninja show. It's watchable with a bit of Baby Assassin's vibe, although some of the fight scenes could've been done better. Not suitable for those who're looking for authentic period drama though.
I think they did not get the direction "right" for this drama. They wanted to retain the manga-esque of the Senka…
Further things about this drama 1. Senka is confusing being an Oiran with being an Okami. Her character that likes to interfere with people business was not a stereotype of an Oiran. 2. I know Edo people especially businessman/merchant would use the term "Danna", but it's still kind of weird for an Oiran which usually "do business" with VIP, like the higher up samurai to use this term on every person she meets in the modern days. She sounded and felt like a "Random Okami" of shopping district in Edo. 3. Senka in this drama did not have the "elegant-ness" and "class-ness" of an Oiran. I mean it did not feel believable that she was adored by many men in Edo period with her mannerism portrayed in this drama. 4. As such, the reasons for Kuraji and Torii to fell for her also felt a bit forced. The drama did not prepare a good reasons for these 2 men to really fall for Senka. 5. All of sudden Kuraji fell in love with Senka on Episode 2 without a strong indication. And the boring "A loves B, but B loves C" started. 6. The drama did not explore the fact that women who lives in Yoshiwara (Oiran included) were basically couldn't go out of that red light district until they were redeemed out by someone. In other words, they were not the adventurous type and mostly introvert.
I think they did not get the direction "right" for this drama. They wanted to retain the manga-esque of the Senka character, but at the same time they wanted to also make the character have real emotion which in my opinion quite conflicting to watch. Imagine they had to show Senka holding empty smoking pipe without the smoke! Not to mention how ridiculously unrealistic it was to keep the hair 24/7 for 3 months. It would be a different story should they go full blast with over-the-top comedy, and make Senka as side-kick (that is semi-real) instead of main character with this kind of setup.
After all, the main romance plot wasn't that interesting either. Yes, I don't like romance genre, but I usually don't mind a "done right" romance comedy. I don't see anything wrong with the love rectangle (in fact it is expected from any romance drama), but in my opinion this drama did not get the initial setup for the romance right during earlier few episodes, and therefore it felt less impactful and boring throughout the series.
Thanks to TapiruK though for fansubbing (and making additional translation notes) for this drama.
This one was cute as long as you don't expect too much from its medical premise. The main focus was on the characters…
Feel bad for how Singapore was portrayed in the drama though. They must have forgotten that Singapore is just a small island that could only cater for an F1 race. Therefore it's out of question the girl in one of the backstories couldn't get to the hospital in time. There's no such thing as "remote area" in Singapore...LoL. Not to mention Singapore is geographically blocked from natural disasters such as typhoon, tsunami, and earthquake.
This one was cute as long as you don't expect too much from its medical premise. The main focus was on the characters and the mystery. I don't like how it did not care on showing the small details (which somehow remind me the style of Kdrama), but overall still an entertaining watch (luckily without the fillers and drags due to its short duration).
This is actually super funny. It was like mini Mukbang with lite ASMR. No wonder it gets many seasons and movies. Too bad there's no Jp caption that can be later translated to English.
I have no issue with this drama. I think the pace was okay, not as slow as let say WOWOW dramas. The color grading was bright and shinny, despite the dark theme. Matsuyama played a character what he is best for. Suzu also did well with her "Ojouchan" character.
The writing was good, in fact was much deeper than expected. The plot has a very very minimal plothole, and most of questions were well explained in the end.
However, I also agree that this drama lacked some kind of "wow" elements. So it did not leave a powerful impact once it ends, which would have been super amazing if it did. Well at least this one was 1000 times better than any random "super fancy scary thrilling mystery" drama with disappointing and not making sense revelation.
