I agree but in the novel they try to pass it off as her teaching him how to love properly but in reality there is just a huge double standard how the author treats the ml and the fl. Because everything the FL does is kinda excused. Toxic femininity Id call that.

Yes, but the guy she marries is an old desciple who looks up to her and who loves her. In the end he leaves her disillusioned. So this is not only about her being petty towards JBZ but also treating the other men around her poorly.

To get back at him she pretended to accept his proposal of marriage and on the marriage day she pretended to marry someone else and humiliated JBZ in front of everybody. Then she also kept a harem of men and although some where seriousl about her she only strung them along. During that time she humiliates the ML again and again. Even after the harem ends he proposes to her every year for 10 years and she rejects him everytime because apparently he doesnt propose the right way. So he changes it every year in the hopes she would accept. She accepts him only after 10 years of trying after he has lost almost all hope. He is a very pitiful simp with no self respect in the end that still gives her eveything. Honestly I really hated her in the end.

But didnt marry her. But it was purely political, he didnt consumate on the wedding night and he never loved anyone but her. She kinda ""cheats" in a similar way later as revenge.

I actually agree...in the novel his aura also became greater and greater...I didnt like the changes they made from the novel in the second part of the Drama. The ultimate bad guy was too OP and pointless. I think her sacrificing for TY is more beautiful than sacrificing for the whole world in this instance because nobody ever did that for TY. And TY was really robbed of a moment of awesomeness as the great dragon. I kind o f needed a DFQC moment for him.

Pretty much around the same time as the FL but because he is traumatized he is not ready to admit it to her or himself...Hou Ming Hou said so in an Interview.

Gives me hope that I am not alone in thinking this. I felt the reader was supposed to sympathise with the trauma of the FL....but I think the MLs backstory is even more horrible than hers. He is just as traumatized...so he alsp has trust issues just like her....she never tried to understand where JBZ was coming from.

I read the novel and I must say....I really hope they change the second half. Ji Bozai in the first half is really interesting and dangerous and and I love the push and pull....but the second half...I thought the FL was way to selfrightous...she was as manipulative as him and aproached him with ulterior motives. Though I think the ML needed to change and do some groveling for betraying her trust when he became emporer his punishment draged on way to much. She didnt just punish him she broke him over 10 years and made him her mental slave...she saw him suffer and enjoYed it. She also played with other mens hearts just as he had done, even though she should know better. This novel wanted to be about equality between the sexes but the end result was not that...it was an egotistical sadistic female lead getting whatever she pleased and giving very little in return. The ML lost all self-respect. I
never had the impression she loved him all that much...she was just amused to see him break down so completely and liked being worshipped. It felt like they just reversed their power dynamic from the start of the novel. Where he liked being worshipped but didnt want to give in return or only when he was in the mood to do so. I see no equality at the end between them....so I hope the ML wont become such a simp in the drama.

Well it started out that great I was hopeful it would be the next LBFAD....so the fall from grace is long....it hurts more because expectations where high...I could more easily get over a mediocre drama...Ill just stop watching at episodes 20 in the future, the same way I can still enjoy the earlier seasons of GoT and ignore the last 2 seasons😅

You ar enot alone. I am very disapointed and stopped watching after the prewiew didnt give me any hope. I will finish the rest in one go when everthing has aired. Luckily its gotten so boring I am not even that curious anymore. Before I could hardly wait for the next episode....what happened to the Drama. It completely strays from the novel for quite some time now.

I think he hard carried that scene...I think the actress playing the sister is really pretty but her eyes always have the same expression, there is not much movement in her face and eyes....whereas DYX really excells at looking vulnerable and the next moment dangerous...he is one of my favourite actors in Cdramaland...😍

I agree...the recent episodes are boring especially the OTP has lost all tension. Either he fell too quickly and now they dont know what to do with them until the final showdown or...which is more likely since im the novel the romance scenes where plenty when they got together...the CCP cut all romance scenes with kisses and intimacy....essentially ruining the selling point of this drama. I think that is more likely then the writer suddenly loosing his touch...since he also wrote LBFAD I have faith in the writer. Censoreship ruins so many dramas....I wish there could be an international release without the censoreship. What is the CCPs problem with romance anyways dont they have a birthrate problem? They should show us how its done and motiviate us.🤣🤣🤣

In the preview of ep 21 was a scene of Ziqi showing MM her love letter and teasing her...it seems it was cut? I really wanted to see that scene and her reaction....instead we spend too much time with the stupid noble woman who didnt want to admit she did wrong....this is a part of chinese culture depicted in chinese dramas all the time that I will never understand...their sense of right and wrong seems off

But do you think the arc of th ML still works if he is also transmigrated? Why be so sad and desperate for being a half demon and unloved if you are frim the real world?

I think the good thing is that all 3 Dramas offer something different so I find it hard to compare. Both FoF and LGIEF have demons but the story and visuals are very different though I think visually FOF is more apealing and different from other dramas in the genre. SOPG is historical and more serious but I enjoy learning about the pearl trade and that characters are not nobles but common people.
My ranking is probably 1. LGIEF
2. FOF as a close second simply because I prefer HEs and then 3. SOPG
But I enjoy them all for different reasons and also think the stories are quite good...since LBFAD I have not enjoyed a chinese drama as much which is why I am a very happy drama watcher at the moment.😅

Lol...yes the legendary spitting blood for everything in cdramas or the slashwounds that dontt really bleed that will be bandaged on top of the clothes without taking them off...I think I even once saw somebody apply medicine on top of the fabric surrounding the wound.🤣

I really like the show. I curently watch FOF, TSOPG and LGIEF...usually I prefer light romantic fluff like LGIEF and avoid overly sad and melodramatic stories. I started FOF because it looked good and because of HMH but I find the story pretty intriguing so far....since this show is pretty much about finding the will to life despite pain and suffering I actually think this might have a happy ending after all. Originally I thought they would form a group and by the midpoint of the drama break up and become enemies leading to death and a sad ending. But so far I feel the group is getting more positive and stronger with every episode...and ZYZ regains his will to live and they all heal each other...having them all die in the end now despite their efforts would kind of undermine the message they have been building... if they died in the end it would amount to "thanks for trying, but resistance is futile you cant fight fate" I'd hate such a depressing message its not inspiring.
One criticism I have so far is the amount of pretty crying in this drama has reached ridiculous levels.. and not eveything needs to be in slowmotion.😅
