yes! Part of it is that you see the ML working hard and suffering, while the sister is basically in fantasy land and not realizing how good she has it. Props to the FL for not slapping her upside the head

the uncle is such a drip, you can see he annoys the FL as well but she is trying to be nice about the whole thing

you can see how it took 10 years for her to wake up and get why the ex is such an jerk - he is manipulative but charming and can play the innocent act. he only sees the situation from his perspective (and he has a lot of experience exchanging money and influence for the company of attractive young women, and I think he honestly thinks the ML is just using her like he has been used), and the ex is pulling the whole "I know what is best, and I'll make decisions for her since she is a woman and needs my help"

Last two episodes were so frustrating!

As much as everyone hates the ex husband - he does have good points - and gives actual advice on running a business (though he is doing it to be an asshole and wreck his self esteem) ML doesn't have the experience / contacts / resources / money, probably couldn't even qualify for a business loan to open up his own studio, let alone support his friends that are kinda useless and rely on him for everything (why would you sell "authentic" goods at a roadstall? Everyone is going to assume they are fake... there are resale stores and online shops!) A more pragmatic solution would be to work for the FL for a couple of years to know the industry, while his friends get back to work and can slip him more freelance jobs. But ML is right that the ex husband would probably make his life hell and it be humiliating to accept money from the women he loves, and the last job he was taken advantage of - not getting paid a lot and working like a dog. Ohh it's a quandary, there isn't an easy road for him. :(

I love the realistic tone of this drama so far, so I'm curious to see how it will wrap up.

Still really enjoying this show, it's hitting that angst and suffering for me. But I wish I could just binge watch it...the wait is agonizing!

Last two episodes were sooo good, ahhh I love this show.

so the main couple is really good so far - but it slooow slow burn and the side stories are taking up a lot of screen time. The parents are great, but the screen time of the hockey sister couple is dragging down an otherwise awesome show. Came for the mature romance and drama about female directing and creative design....but weirdly jammed with college sports...whahht? Like I loved them talking about art and swapping design pointers...there should have been more of that! And the ex husband's plot might not be everyone's liking.

i highly recommend people give it a chance but don't be afraid to skip plotlines / couples if you aren't into them. It's one of those shows where if it was 24 episodes and increased the main leads plot it would probably be rated an extra 1/2 point higher.

Also apparently xiao zhan antifans? i can't speak to that, i've given up trusting ratings and I just watch what I want

I loved these two last episodes - there was a fantastic 20 min of solid progression on the leads part and oh really like the chemistry between those two.

The second co workers couple is really adorable and I love their "we are not flirting" flirting.

The rest I just SKIPPPED ahah hockey team I don't care, you can't make me care I just press that +10 secs repeatedly BAM BAM BAM

Agree agree! The leads and chemistry are so good. The parts where the main couple is together or they are focusing on how graphic design / directing works is so fascinating! But at 36 episodes for a modern drama I knew there was going to be some "padding" so I fast forwarded whenever the FL / ML wasn't on screen and that makes the pacing much better.

I like multiple couples - but there are four at this point and they could have dropped the ice hockey / sister storyline. They are both harmful, selfish idiots, I pretend they are still rotting in jail.

BFF and the ex is a juicy story line - stuff like that happens - I've seen it in real life so it's fun to watch how the characters deal with it.

I feel like they are finally progressing and at least with a slow slow burn like this there hopefully won't be a dumb breakup later and they are saving the super sweet parts for the last 1/3.

i skip their part entirely - it feels off and doesn't fit the rest of the drama

especially since the sister is introduced by putting the ex in the hospital - hitting him in the head is 100% horrible (especially since it wasn't her business, that was her sister's marriage and it ended as peaceful as things could)

This is such a great drama - I haven't been hooked on a modern drama since Hidden Love and I can't stop watching this since I started yesterday.

Yeah rating should be much higher - this is an excellent slice of life and all the characters feel like real people. I LOVE THIS

A lot of the female characters in the show are far from perfect, but it makes it so interesting! The stuck up rich lady, the insecure boss, the sister that doesn't really know what she wants but is disappointed in the men she dates.

The guys the sister dates seem really nice and kind and she is just so dismissive and selfish. I hope she learns and grows during the show.

This show seems to be hinting against gold digging and looking for happiness in showing off and status symbols - always a good lesson.

Ohhh i'm grateful for this show right now! I love it, I was desperate for a sexy modern show with adults and this is delivering.

First time watching Elvis and damn he is a snack, Elvira is cool as always. She is always just soothing to watch for me, I love her presence. And the catty rich lady she has to deal with is hilarious.

I am dropping it at this point. The break made me realize it’s not worth it. I gave it so many chances to get better, but I’d rather watch some trashy short dramas instead.

I blame the screenwriter - they should have done much better given the source material.

I'm only up to 20% of the novel, but it's not really hell - it's just the waiting area for soul reincarnation where they drink the mengpo (forgetting soup). I've seen that area depicted in shows before like Miss the Dragon, so I wouldn't blame the censorship bureau on the changes, they could have worked around those parts.

I started the novel to see what all the fuss was about and wow they really changed a lot for no good reason.

yeah it's ridiculous - i am a villain apologist and usually love a SML but this is really stretching it. I'm convinced he has more screen time than the ML, and he isn't that great of a character. Usually there is some sort of interest on the FL's part or slight chemistry with a SML to justify, but he just showed up and inserted himself to be annoying.

she was just in "To Ship Someone" which was kinda dumb, but the acting of the leads made it super enjoyable to watch and ooh the chemistry yum

Yeah I think it was that initial reaction to the whining / pouting of her character at the very beginning that was off putting for some people.

A lot of us had just gotten through / attempted the Longest Promise and eek, not in the mood for another overly childish FL. Luckily, that was just the very beginning, and kinda stops around episode 4 and she grows up and matures pretty quickly.

She is going a good job of looking hurt and yeah, she can cry! I'm enjoying her now, and while there is room for improvement, she's not a bad actress. At the end of episode 12, how can you not feel her pain? It's *tears*

I'm dead - episode 14 where Jing asks her not to fall in love with another man and the scene cuts to XL bursting through the water looking for her.

Ahhhhh this show is 10/10 just so good. How can you choose between Jing and XL??? ohhh the angst I feel - I love it.

It gets better with every episode, and as of episode 10, it's moved up a bunch to "yeah this is super fun, and I'm glad I stuck with it"

There is some off putting pouting at the beginning, but starting episode 4, the FL matures and the chemistry starts to mesh.
