The plot summary is not helping me understand what is attractive about the story. Can someone do a better job…
It's just really emotional. The direction, production, acting script are all top notch, and they are doing a phenomenal job and making every character (even the side ones) feel very distinct and you CARE DEEPLY about everyone, even with their flaws - so the plot just hits strongly.
It's a fantasy like LBFD and Till the End of the Moon, gods and deities and demons. If you liked either of those, give this show a try - it's unique in its own way, and I think this will be a classic that people will be obsessing over for a while (unless the regulators mess up S2).
There is lots of romance in an unreciprocated secret crushes way so far, if you enjoy sad pining and wet eyes and watching characters trying to be strong and not cry (this is my favorite, so yeah loving this show so so much)
is this show good? I’m still deciding on whether to watch it or not 😅
It's "okay" so far- it's watchable but if you go into it with high expectations you'll be disappointed. If you are a fan of Ding Yu Xi, it's totally worth it as he is great as usual.
If it turns around and picks up it still could be good, so it's a wait and see. If you don't have anything else you really want to watch, I'd say start it and see if you like it.
I feel like maybe people had big expectations for this one, so people are disappointed. this show has some major…
yeah, I don't want to be too harsh on it - it is okay, and watchable. I'll probably finish this with a lot of fast forwarding if needed.
The problem is that it's the same production company of LBFAD, and we just had a run of fantastic dramas (that I'm still catching up on) so in comparison it's looking much weaker.
If this had come out months ago during the xianxia drought I would have loved this a lot more. But it's got flaws and at this point I'm pointing at the screenplay as the major problem.
Oh my gosh, the costumes and cgi are to die for. Ding Yu Xi looks so fab in all his robes 😭but...I am struggling…
Oh, yeah - you are exactly how I am feeling about this (Ep 7)
It's okay, I'm sticking with it because I love the production and Ding Yu Xi has his swoon worthy moments, but... it's not a smooth start.
I agree the show should have spent more time on their interactions before getting thrown into the love tribulations, and make him more of a jerk to explain why she is really against the entire project to begin with. Cdramas love to tone down the ML, but not the FL so it winds up being exasperating watching a character being a little over the top with their reactions. He is trying to get back his powers to save the heavens, and she is constantly pouting for at least three episodes because he was slightly rude to her? It's not fun to watch :(
And there is too much time spent in the palace intrigue section - I'm not invested, since I know it's just one of their lifetimes, so ? whatever if they die. Maybe it ties back into the heaven section, as no emperor can ever be trusted in a xianxia.
But there is something here, and I'm going to keep watching. The premise is solid, and while she was a little much at the very beginner, I'm growing to like the couple - they have their moments. But...I give it to 3rd lifetime and then I'll drop it if it's not getting interesting.
I really wanted to like this but I just can't get into it after a couple of episodes :(
It's just missing something so far, but maybe so many good dramas came out this year that my standards are too high haha. Production company did a fantastic job though, I almost want to skip through the 2nd mortal arc and just watch the heavenly realm parts for the costumes and makeup.
Yangzi is an absolute DELIGHT in this. I've always loved her, but her character and portrayal so far is top notch. How many times have we seen not believable cross dressing? She's pulling it off and charming as well.
i really like it. it's funny and they have good chemistry (as of episode 4), and the concept of her being a "fish out of water" from ancient times to modern day makes a great plot. and Zheng Fang Xing is super cute
it's not the highest budget (since it is a short drama) but decent enough, i've seen worse
i'm watching the raws (my chinese is okay) so I don't know if there is an english translation out yet
Xiao Zhan and Ren Min are dubbed? Or use their own voice? I heard Ren Min real voice in Serenade Peaceful and…
Ren Min is dubbed by Xu Jia Qi - who has been wayyy overused this year (she did chongzi / back to the brink / wulin heros / beauty of resilience
Part of my problem getting into this show - i'm kinda sick of listening to the same baby voice, I wish they would have gone with another dubber or at least get the actress.
ahh this show is really great.
this show was not on my radar but pleasant surprise - this looks awesome

Yangzi is really cementing being considered a top tier actress
i'm trying to go slow though and savor it since who knows when S2 is going to come out and the wait will be awful :(

I've been waiting for this for so long, gimme some vampire soon please!

one for each male lead, and then the ending where she gets all of them and lives happily ever after so we don't have to choose hahah
okay I might start liking this!! (and I really like the SML / SFL so they are interesting to watch)
Zhou Yi Ran really has "it" , he is going to be such a star in the future.
The acting / direction is great so I hope the subtitles won't ruin it :(

I hope this drama winds up like the ending of blood of youth - where the three guys just ride off being bros for life
Excited for this! In the mood for some male friendship!
it's not the highest budget (since it is a short drama) but decent enough, i've seen worse
i'm watching the raws (my chinese is okay) so I don't know if there is an english translation out yet
the direction and vibe of this is great and I love the flirty chemistry between the two so far
i am really really pleased with this - it's got that artistic flair
