This drama should have been told from Seon Jae's perspective in the first place. He was the main character in…
This would have been so much fun, and uniqueš. Tae Gyeong is now just supporting cast for Lucia. Writers tend to struggle writing for male leads in dailies, especially female-centric dailies. They are given their own stories in the beginning then somehow, their stories become secondary and they end up just supporting the female lead. Then the second male lead, who is usually a villain, gets a far better storyline and then outshines the first male lead.
I seldom remember what Tae Gyeong does in an episode but I remember Seon Jae- no matter how small his role is in an episode. He leaves an impact.
Same with Queen's House- I hardly remember the first male lead but the second male lead made quite the impression. But maybe it all boils down to acting. The second male leads are pretty good actors. And villains just have more funšš.
Desperate Mrs Seon Ju was different- both the male and female leads had well fleshed out stories. Neither of their stories was sacrificed for the other.
So Lucia and Stella plotted to steal a company so that they could get an apology and correct Mi So's record in the newspapers? As well as arrest the Chairman. It's no wonder they have been evasive about their long term goals. The plan fails miserably because stealing the company has only angered the family and they will never apologise when they are that angry. A coerced apology is not a sincere apology. So if they apologise, will she leave the company? Lucia's end goal was never really clear and we still don't know what her initial plan for Se Ri was.
The revenge was a long shot to begin with, which is why Stella could not come up with a solid plan in 16 years. It might have been different if Mi So had been murdered and evidence needed to be found. But it was a case of bullying that led to suicide- much harder to get justice for. The light at the end of the tunnel for Lucia is that she gained another daughter, but for Stella, it means she lost a granddaughter whom she never even knew existed. Maybe she might have been better off never knowing........
Seon Jae is enjoying Kyung Chae's downward spiral a little too muchš¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£. The boyish grin he had after saying Kyung Chae can't live in denial forever and she will lose her mind when she faces reality š¤£š¤£š¤£. I could not help but smile because of his smile š. He should be doing voice overs for the show- those little speeches he gives when he is on his own are golden. He is like Big Brother- nothing gets past himš¤£š¤£š¤£. But am curious as to who was giving him updates on Se Ri's condition at the hospital. How did he know that she woke up? Did he call to check?
At least Tae Gyeong knows where Lucia went so he will find her. I like that Lucia acknowledged that she and Kyung Chae share two daughters. Am sure Kyung Chae acknowledged part of what Lucia said to her. Instead of badmouthung Lucia to Se Ri, Kyung Chae should have just told her that Lucia married into the family for revenge because she is Mi So's Mom. That might have guaranteed that Se Ri would avoid Lucia for a few days.
Ji Seop is disowning his wife. He said to Soo Jung, "where has your Ja Kyung gone to?"š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£. And Pan Sul telling his wife that her mouth will be the first thing to rot when she dies š¤£š¤£š¤£.
The actress playing Stella is doing a fantastic job of playing the grieving grandmother. She has lost her glow and her pizzazz. I really feel sorry for her.
I also felt really sorry for Kyung Chae but hearing things from Se Ri perspective made me understand why she is choosing to distance herself from Kyung Chae. But I also do think Kyung Chae believed that was love. That is probably as far as her parental love can go because that is what she received while growing up so she really may not know any better. It will be a learning curve for Kyung Chae. Also, the way Lucia described how Mi So looked just like Kyung Chae is a sign that Lucia will forgive Kyung Chae. She will do it for Mi So.
We'll see if Lucia's memories are intact tomorrow. Kyung Chae should not have run away because it truly was an accident.
It would make for a good story if Lucia loses the memories of the last four years and thinks that Mi So just died. She will likely slap Se Ri the first time she sees her and that would be a good way for Se Ri to find out that Lucia is Mi So's Mom.
Itās true ā as outsiders we get the full panoramic view, so itās easy to call Lucia āuselessā when weāre…
Yes- she is just not 'wired' to think like that. That is why the revenge was Stella's plan and never Lucia's. I think that if Stella had not intervened and recruited Lucia, Lucia would be dead by now. Her grief really consumed her and Stella gave her a reason to want to continue living.
Itās true ā as outsiders we get the full panoramic view, so itās easy to call Lucia āuselessā when weāre…
Nicely said- I was thinking of a way to express this and you have done a splendid job. Lucia, at her core, is a good and emotional person. She has been really consistent throughout the show. She wears her heart on her sleeve. She is a woman who owned a small food store to support herself, her daughter and and her sister. She lived a simple life and was extremely happy with the little she had. She is also quite simple minded- one cannot develop the intelligence or business acumen to run a corporation like Mingang in just four years, nor can a 36-year old woman suddenly learn to be strategic or conniving or evil. This makes the show quite realistic. Yes, she did try by deceiving, lying and seducing the Chairman, but she is hardly a seductress. She might have changed her name but it did not change who she is. Now we are just seeing her revert back to her original form. Luck is the main reason she has made it this far in her plot.
She is a grieving mother, seeking revenge- or more correctly, seeking justice for her daughter. The weight of that grief is far heavier than any revenge plan she might have.
So Lucia has tried to swallow the sun but has failed. The only person who has swallowed the sun in Kyung Chae- she removed the sun from Lucia's sky and, in the process, inadvertently swallowed the sun from her own sky because of the baby switch.
Se Ri woke up as Tae Gyeong was saving Lucia from being run over by Kyung Chae. Tae Gyeong mentioned getting CCTV- so maybe they might press charges. Lucia and Kyung Chae fought over Se Ri at the hospital and Kyung Chae dragged Se Ri home where Ja Kyung informed Se Ri that Kyung Chae is her Mom. Manager Gong tried to refute it but Ja Kyung insisted and Se Ri, upset, ran away from home. She is now staying with Stella and Lucia. Seon Jae informed a panicked Kyung Chae that she might find Se Ri at Stella's and she ran over there and found her. Se Ri basically turned her back on Kyung Chae and a scuffle ensued between Kyung Chae and Lucia, while Stella stared so helplessly. A little too helplessly if you ask me- she could have pulled them apart quite easily. Se Ri then came out of her room and separated them by pushing Kyung Chae to the ground and probably told her to stop hurting her Mom. Kyung Chae was so shocked.
And then Lucia proceeds to meet with Kyung Chae alone, out by a river. I get that this is an issue between the two mothers, but meeting her alone is just not safe. Kyung Chae seems to be hearing what Lucia is saying and she is even crying but then she goes back to denial mode again and grabs Lucia's jacket. As they are fighting, Lucia loses her footing on a rock and falls and hits her head on a rock too. Scared and panicked, Kyung Chae runs away, leaving Lucia there. Four episodes left and another hospital stint?
And it has just dawned on me that we have not had any amnesia on the show yet but there is just not enough time for that- maybe if it had happened last week?? In any case, I will laugh if Lucia wakes up with amnesia and she thinks that she and Seon Jae are still together- that will be hilarious. Even worse is that she might think she is still pregnant with Mi So.
Alternatively, if Lucia were wise, she could fake amnesia and pretend to still love Seon Jae and she could use that to trick him into giving her the ledgers that will put the Chairman (and him) away or she can steal them. BUT doing this will take away the time she needs to spend with Se Ri so she can tell her the whole truth. So amnesia is not a good plan.
A head injury like that needs a few days of recovery- so will she be bed-ridden for 1-2 episodes and then spend the final two episodes resolving everything?
With Lucia out, Kyung Chae can become Chairwoman again.
The writers are cutting everything far too close- we might just need a time jump into the future in the end.
No preview.
Also- no Tae Joo or Yeon Ah. Maybe we will see them in the final episode.
Thanks TE ! So, Lucia is in danger ? Do you think she is going to be okay ?I hope the writers didn't plan to kill…
I just realised that Se Ri finding her birth mother is also a major loss for her because she will lose the only father she has ever known. Her identity for 20 years is that of being the Chairman's daughter. And she will no longer be that. So it's a double-edged sword. And finding out her bio-dad has no interest in her will hurt her even more- which is one of the reasons I hope Seon Jae's heart softens towards her. I will not be surprised if they decide not to tell her about Seon JaešŖšŖšŖ.
Lucia is really pushing too hard. What's the urgency? She waited for four years, why not wait a few more days? Has she forgotten her own grief?- she was in denial and refused to accept Mi So's death. And when she finally did, she started sleeping walking and lost her voice. Like Tae Gyeong told her, she cannot force things.
And why go to the different newspapers to set the record straight? Mi So was not some celebrity. Setting the record straight will also mean exposing Se Ri's part- would Lucia want that? But Se Ri has to pay for her actions somehow.
Ji Seop is the perfect comic relief- when Soo Jung tells him that he is no longer Se Ri's brother but uncle- he said, "that's how we are connected now?"š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£. Wait till they find out that they are not actually blood-related š¤£š¤£. Now the only person with a blood relation to Se Ri in the Min household is Ja Kyungš¤£š¤£š¤£. I think Pan Sul and his wife will need more of those talismansššš.
Tae Gyeong really sounds like a broken record now- all he talks about lately is taking the Chairman down with the ledgers.
Lucia isnāt the type to block coāparenting out of spite. She would allow it, but with firm boundaries, because…
Se Ri is an adult now so she does not need Lucia's permission. She will see whomever she wants to see. I don't think they will tell her that Kyung Chae tried to run Lucia over- that is information they will likely keep to themselves to maintain peace. And Kyung Chae is not in her right state of mind right now. But Lucia can open an attempted murder case against her if she wants.
I would recommend watching a few episodes and then deciding. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It has been a fun 6…
So true- they have done such a great job with the villains and the acting has been top tier. To be able to make one villain complex is incredibly difficult, but to do it with three is incredible. I have experienced a range of emotions with regards to the villains- I really thought I would hate them until the end but that's no longer possible.
Manager Gong has been brilliant. It would have been awesome if she had played a bigger role but the show already has a lot of core characters.
Thanks TE ! So, Lucia is in danger ? Do you think she is going to be okay ?I hope the writers didn't plan to kill…
I think Lucia will be just fine- she will saved. She is the FL so she cannot die. I also think Seon Jae saving her will certainly help with a redemption journey for Seon Jae, if that is the direction the writers are going in.
I don't think Se Ri will be told that he poisoned Lucia when she was pregnant. That its the type of knowledge that is taken to the grave. If anyone brings it up, it will likely be Seon Jae in order to apologise to Lucia.
Denial is definitely the theme of this episode. Kyung Chae is in extreme denial, bordering on delirium and insanity. She is seeing Mi So and is now attempting murder by trying to run over Lucia. The look on Seon Jae's face while talking to Kyung Chae- it's like he does not know what to do with her. He can see she is spiralling.
Who will save Lucia this time? Maybe Tae Gyeong? But he has already been in the hospital recently - he may not survive being hit and it would be too much for Lucia to bear. So he would need to push or pull Lucia out of the way. OR maybe Seon Jae saves her and gets hit instead. Or he pushes or pulls Lucia out of the way.
Looks like Lucia brought Kyung Chae some of Mi So's things, which was very nice of her.
I guess Kyung Chae is out of all things Mingang-related. It will take at least 1-2 episodes for her to be of sound mind again so she can start grieving for Mi So properly, then figure out the Se Ri situation.
The actress playing Kyung Chae is doing an incredible job portraying all the different emotions, especially when she falls down the stairs and is crying.
Itās interesting, although I feel the baby swap was unnecessary. In the end, Lucia wanted to take revenge for…
The writers created a character who is so stubborn and unrepentant, like the Chairman. But I think they wanted to give her a shot at redemption and only a 'karmic' lesson can work on someone like this.
In other shows, some villains remain unrepentant till the end- like in Queen's House, Desperate Mrs Seon Ju, Cinderella Game etc.
The baby swap was necessary because it forces Kyung Chae to re-assess her life- something she would have never done, otherwise. In the absence of this tool, Lucia's revenge has not really amounted to much. If the girls had not been swapped, the reveal of Lucia's identity would have just made Kyung Chae angrier, and she still would not have shown any remorse, and there would be no lessons learnt. Truthfully speaking, in the absence of the baby swap, Lucia's revenge would have been a bust. I guess it explains why Stella failed to come up with a suitable plan in 16 years, until she met Lucia- which is why she was so desperate to have Lucia on her team. But even then, it has been an uphill battle which has relied on luck more than anything. Even Tae Gyeong did not have a suitable plan.
It will be interesting to see what is next for Lucia over the next 6 episodes. Where does her revenge go from here? Will she still want to remove the Mins from the company? Can she get the Chairman arrested? Looks like they will try to use the ledgers to get him arrested for embezzlement.
