Hi, I watched this but never commented, just read everyone else’s comments and felt no need to add…I also…
Hey. Have not seen you in a while. Great to see you. Thank you for the recommendation. I will check it out. Why were main characters being killed off? Did the actors want to leave? Desperate Mrs Seonju is still MBC's best show in the last two years- I hope they make a similar gem at some point in the future.
I dropped this after episode 97 when it became increasingly clear that the writer was determined to botch the show the way she botched Seo Rin’s face 😂. I did not want to watch her ruin Jun Ho’s character so suddenly- with no real warning signs, after over 60% of show was done. So I stopped watching and did not read any comments until today, since it’s finished. I am so glad I trusted my instincts because, ruin the show, she did, and spectacularly so. I am so glad that I did not waste 22 more hours on this.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that she killed off Seo Rin in the end. So unexpected and am glad she did it. Seo Rin was never meant to live – she should have died when that truck hit her. This reminds me of Woman in a Veil where the SFL was in a coma until episode 60 and they killed her off in episode 87. And like the SFL, Seo Rin was also villainous and worked against the good guys. But for Woman in a Veil, it was really warranted because the ML fell in love with FL who was in her body after the soul swap. The SFL really liked him but he never reciprocated until her personality changed. With Seo Rin, it also made sense because she was being true to her character and I am glad the writer maintained that. It sad that both Seo Rin and the SFL in Woman in a Veil did not get a real shot at redemption- the SFL in Woman in a Veil really only got it on her deathbed.
Does the writer know that people get new bodies in the afterlife lol? They could have just had Jun Ho say her name.
I am sad that Jun Ho had to die but I guess Seo Rin’s death sealed his fate. I wish they had done a Cinderella Game where the child turned evidence against her mother and went away to find herself, before coming back. Jun Ho could have gone to rebuild and heal in the U.S. and come back. Alternatively, the writer could have had Seo Rin and Jun Ho work with their mother, Hwa Yeong, and after seeing just how depraved she was, they could have slowly disentangled themselves from her clutches, and in the process, Jun Ho could have slowly started falling for Seo Rin. Before the twin swap, he had started warming up to her so falling for her would have come naturally. They could have had Seo Rin and Jun Ho completely abandon Hwa Yeong as they work on redemption. And that could have been the start of Hwa Yeong’s downfall. Jun Ho and Seo Rin could have gone to the U.S. to rebuild, heal and mature, and come back after two years, in time for the twin's first birthday.
I really did not think they would let Yeong Ja lose her son- she had been through so much in the show so it was really cruel and heartbreaking. She deserved her dream of going shopping with her two daughters-in-law, one on each arm. Even though Suk Hee lost her daughter for 30 years, lost her mind for those 30 years, then lost her husband, and then lost that same daughter again before getting to really form a relationship with her, is devastating. But for some reason, it feels like Yeong Ja lost a whole lot more. Even at the twins' birthday party at the end, she was smiling but her eyes were not- they were vacant. Such great acting from the actress to display such complex emotions.
Yeong Ja actually took Nam Bong back? I guess the grief of losing their son brought them together. I loved Jun Ho and Yeon Ja’s scenes- she fought for him and was never going to let him go-the depth of a mother's love❤. And her grief in the final episode- so palpable- I felt her pain. The writer got these parts right.
Other parts that the writer got right: • Making Seo Rin somewhat villainous; • They didn't give Jun Ho leukaemia again. I was worried about his drinking earlier. • Giving San Wol a very happy ending. After Jun Ho, she and Tae Pyung are my favourites, so I am thrilled; • No Baek Ho and Jang Mi wedding; • Suk Hee becoming the Chairwoman; • The whole family living with the Chairman.
After 140 episodes, no love interest for Tae Pyung?
Did Gang Hyeok really shout at Hwa Yeong for hitting his son after he punched him a few minutes before? Lol. Becoming a father should have changed him- he should have started to change and extricate himself and Jun Ho from Hwa Yeong’s clutches because he did not want his son to be like them. It would have been nice to end the show with Hwa Yeong and Gang Hyeok in jail and genuinely thanking Yeong Ja and Nam Bong for raising Jun Ho.
So who were Baek Ho’s bio-parents in the end?
Where are Jang Mi and Baek Ho living with their kids?
I think I will take a break from Korean dailies after Our Happy Days- for a year or two. I will focus on the weekly ones and Chinese shows- they are less torturous.
I dropped it at ap 91, wonder if I shall catch up with the last 5-10 episodes.
I did not last that long. I dropped this after episode 97 when it became increasingly clear that the writer was determined to botch the show the way she botched Seo Rin’s face lol. I dropped it after episode 97 and sped watched episodes 137-140. I only watched Jun Ho's scenes, actually, lol- he had a far more interesting story. It was worth watching for closure.
Gorgeous drama which really warmed my heart and will leave me smiling for days. It has definitely made it to my rewatch list. Such goodness needs to be savoured again. My Fridays and Saturdays won’t be the same. I wish they had made it 16 episodes. I would have loved to see: 1) More of the planning around Mun Do’s takedown- and he needed to squirm some more as they took him out slowly. It would have been nice to see him panic as the walls were closing in- but he might have just run away with his son; 2) Mun Do having to tell his son, from jail, that he had been arrested and is going away for a long time. I wanted to see the heartbreak in his eyes as he realised that he let down his son; 3) Grandpa visiting Mun Do to end things with him, properly, and Mun Do begging him to look after his son; 4) Se Gye confronting Mun Do in prison; 5) More Cha family time: a. While I love that Grandpa now adores Seo Ri, I would have loved to see them interacting again in the episode, in person. b. For Seo Ri to interact with the Aunts and help them and Se Gye to build their relationship and become an actual family. The Aunts are so scared of Seo Ri that they would have fallen in line🤣🤣. c. For Seo Ri and Se Gye to have interacted with Mun Do’s son. They could have walked in just after the son came home from school. That was a beautiful family moment and it showed how Grandpa is changing for the better. It would have been easy to hold Mun Do’s sins against his son.
It really seems like Mun Do was a dark cloud hanging over the family. Now that he is no longer there, the cloud has been lifted and the family is getting along much better. Even that scene where Seo Ri tells Se Gye that Grandpa threatened to block him- Se Gye responded saying that he would never do that because he could not defy the laws of parental love. This shows that despite their issues, Se Gye knows that his Grandfather loves and adores him❤️.
6) Se Gye’s psychiatrist friend- I missed him. Not sure if he was married but I think he and Tae Hee might have made a good couple. They could have met while visiting Se Gye in the hospital. 7) A few more interactions between Se Gye and his right hand man, Mr Son. They are funny together. 8) And did Mr Son finally get his PTO (paid time off)- am sure he got lots of it lol now that Se Gye is otherwise occupied and happy 🤗. 9) One last scene between the fake Shaman and Seo Ri. 10) What happened to Seo Ri's Grandma's restaurant in the end? She might have rented it out.
I love that Seo Ri is still staying in her cheap apartment- it’s so her. I also love that we got a lot of couple time in the finale (and in the entire show)🥰. And it was tastefully done. Seo Ri’s world is now much lighter and devoid of the burden she carried when she came from the Josean era. And Se Gye- his world is complete. Their joy is palpable🤗.
Am so glad that Seo Ri was unconscious for a short time. Am also glad that there was no memory loss- just a continuation of their story.
So is Se Gye the Chairman again? Is he running both Chail and Biojei? Glad he is in charge and didn't just walk away from his birthright.
I have to admit that watching Seo Ri and Mun Do sit across from one another in the prison, they definitely had some chemistry. It's a good thing they did not make it a love triangle- that might have been deadly. Mun Do and super-jealous Se Gye are lethal😂😂.
In spite of the things I would have loved to see, it was an excellent drama in my book and all loose ends were tied up quite nicely.
I have to wonder though, was the Royal Nemesis really Seo Ri or was it the Grand Prince? He was kinda Se Gye's love rival and Se Gye really hated him because Seo Ri liked him🤔. Food for thought😉.
Even if they don't pair them up with others, the Min Ho and Seung Ri situations should just be put on hold, or…
Yeah- unfortunately, Min Ho's love for Seung Ri is the core of his storyline. Maybe growth for him will be realising that he cannot force love and finally move on from Seung Ri. As they say, if you love someone, let them go and if they come back, they are yours. If not, it was just never meant to be. He needs to let go but another thing driving his obsession is his jealousy of Gyeol. He does not want to lose to Gyeol.
The writers have really painted Min Ho into a corner and have left no room for any character growth. How can he not see that he is no different from Seung Ri chasing unrequited love? It is quite baffling. He is not even a good catch- he is entitled and throws tantrums like a child, especially with his parents. He needs to grow up- you cannot stalk someone into liking you. He needs to change- Seung Ri does not find anything about him appealing, at the moment. He needs to mature and move on from his crush. If he just continues obsessing over Seung Ri until he eventually gets her, he would have learnt nothing at all. This would also be a disservice to the character- for 120 episodes, he would have been all about Seung Ri.
Both Seung Ri and Min Ho need a pivot- their stories need to go in two different directions. I have a few ideas: 1) Put Seung Ri and Eun Hyeong together: HOW?- Somehow Seung Ri bumps into Bit Na somewhere- maybe in a park after Bit Na has run away from home, and they strike up a friendship. Bit Na needs someone, in addition to her family, to help her with her grief, and Seung Ri has some similarities to her mother. Through this, Seung Ri will also befriend Eun Hyeong and through interactions between the three of them, Eun Hyeong and Bit Na will slowly start to heal while Seung Ri realises that she is slowly forgetting about her feelings for Gyeol. Seung Ri would also make a great love rival for Ji Seon- they are on a more equal footing than Seung Ri and Eun Ae. This angle will create a lot of good drama because Seung Ri would be becoming a stepmom and her Mom will be against that. Her Mom prefers her to marry someone rich whom she does not even love, let alone like. BUT this is not likely to happen because Eun Nim and Seung U will end up together so their siblings cannot fall in love too. Plus, it would also be great if Ji Seon gets some character growth and gets back together with Eun Hyeong.
2) Put Min Ho and Cho Rong together: I think these two would be really good together and they have great chemistry- they have a few similarities. We can have a drunk and distraught Min Ho showing up at the restaurant and ordering food. Then he will somehow get Cho Rong to drink with him and they will get drunk and end up sleeping together. In the morning, they will both be shocked and decide to forget about it. Min Ho will be so confused as to how can be sleep with someone else when he is so deeply in love with Seung Ri. Following this, it will fun watching him try to avoid Seung Ri at work or being uncomfortable around her. Cho Rong will try to forget, treat Min Ho coldly, and Min Ho will catch feelings, pursue her but she will reject him. But somehow the two end up falling in love- with or without a pregnancy involved. This relationship will cause amazing drama because Min Ho's Mom will be dead set against the relationship but Cho Rong is really feisty so I think she will be able to take on Min Ho's Mom. Her Grandma will help🤗 I think this would be a great pivot for Min Ho and it will give him an opportunity for character development. Currently, no one in his life is challenging him to be a better human being.
3) Min Ho and Seung Ri get over their respective crushes and go their separate ways. The show can end with Seung Ri going to the US and the writers can introduce someone new for Min Ho in the final episode.
Sadly, however, I think the writers are going to push Min Ho and Seung Ri onto us😪. Seung Ri will eventually get over Gyeol and then suddenly realise that she likes Min Ho and will start chasing after him, and he will play hard to get= BORING🤮🤢. We don't need two delusional people falling in love. Another reason why I think the writers might go this route is because Min Ho's Mom made Seung Ri promise that she will never get together with Min Ho. So the writers might make her take back her words. Hopefully, the writers will not go this route🙏🏾.
I guess it's safe to say that Eun Ae got her money back 😅.
Where will Eun Hyeong be teaching? At a primary school? High school? These Cho siblings and their Dad have a propensity to not tell the truth😂😂😂. Eun Hyeong's wife might actually divorce him when she finds out😂😂😂.
Did Gyeol return to work just so he could spend more time with Eun Ae🥰? He could have easily continued working at home 😂😂😂. He also likes sharing meals with her, which makes sense because he feels so uncomfortable eating at home. He also likes getting in Eun Ae's personal space 😂.
The actors who are playing Min Ho's parents are doing such a great job- they look and talk like each other- something that happens after years of marriage. Great acting.
I am glad that Eun Ae's Dad turned down the job offer- but I think he might be tempted to take it.
What secrets is Seung Ri's Dad hiding? Swapped at birth?😂😂
I thought the same- in today's episode, Seo Rin really looks like Jang Mi - even her expressions- so strange.…
Oh yeah- forgot about Hwa Yeong since the show is about her😂😂. Seo Rin is the third female lead then Hong Ju. Very soon, Hong Ju will be on par with Tae Sook😂.
Ha-ha Seo Rin dresses and look more like Jang Mi while Jang Mi look more like Seo Rin.😂What's with that last…
I thought the same- in today's episode, Seo Rin really looks like Jang Mi - even her expressions- so strange. Must be the coma 😂😂. Jang Mi does look like her too.
Suk Hee might be the Chairman's long lost daughter. If that is true, he now has four grandkids- including Tae Pyung and Tae Sook, and a great grandchild- Bo Ra. His family has grown.
This is why 20 episode extensions are not necessarily a good thing- they need to create stories.
I wonder if Hong Ju has some birth secret too🤔- she is in desperate need of a story. A wasted second female lead.
He was the one who was supposed to do the DNA test. He never trusted her so he would have never allowed her to move in or given her a role in his company, without one. He probably had Dong Seok's DNA and tested Seo Rin's DNA against that.
But we also have to remember that this Suk Hee arc was probably never meant to be a part of the original story. The 20 episode extension means the writers need to find some stories to tell. So they found a loophole they could exploit. They probably didn't even know at episode 5 that Suk Hee was the Chairman's daughter🤣🤣🤣.
What next is the big question- they have gone all out with these episodes- can they maintain the momentum or is…
Hwa Yeong seems to be scared of Jun Ho's Dad- I don't think she wants anything to do with him.
Yes - Seo Rin and Jang Mi's relationship is far from stable- right now, they have bonded over taking Hwa Yeong down but there are going to be cracks soon- over Jun Ho or over Baek Ho. But at least Seo Rin might be able to prevent Jun Ho's advances on Jang Mi whenever he tries.
I thought the writers would make Jun Ho want to take revenge on Jang Mi for using him- but they are going the other way. So Hwa Yeong cannot afford to harm Jang Mi. It also looks like Jun Ho is still not interested in taking over Dream Group🙏🏾.
I am look forward to Seo Rin meeting Jun Ho for the first time since her return. What will she say?- I doubt it will happen tomorrow since it's "meet Suk Hee" day. Maybe on Friday.
What will San Wol and Hong Ju be doing for the next 45 episodes, I wonder? They are slowly being squeezed out. Suk Hee will be getting a lot more screen time soon, so will Dong Seok, and Jun Ho's bio-dad.
What next is the big question- they have gone all out with these episodes- can they maintain the momentum or is…
That will be interesting- it might give some insight into why Hwa Yeong targeted Dream Group. Did she just pick the company out of the blue? Does his bio-Dad have a history with Dream Group? Anyway, I guess a new actor will be introduced soon. I wish the writers would give more of peek into Hwa Yeong's history so we can try to understand how she ended up being like this.
Hopefully, the search for his Dad will take Jun Ho's focus away from Jang Mi for a little bit. And am sure Seo Rin will make sure to keep him in check- she is quite perceptive. At least the Chairman did not fire him because of Hwa Yeong.
Another excellent episode!I guess they're really aiming for 7%, huh?So great to see Jang Mi and Seo Rin working…
What next is the big question- they have gone all out with these episodes- can they maintain the momentum or is it going to get boring now? These last five episodes could have easily been a part of the last 10 episodes. The writers are trying to hook us now so we are forced to see the show through to the end 😂😂. We have about 2.5 months left of watching 🙆🏾♀️.
Hwa Yeong is partly paying for her crimes and has been kicked out of the house and Dream Group, so why have the writers woken up Suk Hee? She does not have a revenge journey when things are already being resolved. So it means something else is going to happen. Something major that will trigger a Phase 2 of the revenge. Whatever it is will cause the Chairman's collapse and somehow, Hwa Yeong will return. Hwa Yeong is about to do something big and crazy. Am guessing that whatever it is, will happen on Friday.
In the preview, is Jun Ho asking about his Dad? I also noticed that he is now referring to Hwa Yeong as, "Mom".
The scene where Gyeol sends Eun Ae a pic of a bunny and she is offended because he called her bunny. Then he asked her what she was doing and she said, "eating a carrot🥕" .🤣🤣🤣
mom- daughter quarrel ended in half episode ... misunderstanding and moms apology took place !gyeol started to…
Watching Eun Ae's Mom realise what happened in the past was painful. She really was not herself and she bears a lot of scars from being abandoned so the word 'abandonment' is a trigger for her. And her honesty that she never learnt how to be a Mom 🥺. Unfortunately, Eun Ae has suffered a lot because of it- she even prepared food based on the tastes of her youngest and oldest children😪. Hopefully, this can be the beginning of real healing between mother and daughter. Yeon Ja needs to tell her kids about her past.
Looks like Eun Hyeong is sticking with his decision. I hope his wife won't spend the money. The message said the money was deposited by Eun Ae.
I really don't want Min Ho to get Seung Ri. He is not worthy of her.
Desperate Mrs Seonju is still MBC's best show in the last two years- I hope they make a similar gem at some point in the future.

Looks like Eun Hyeong is sticking with his decision. I hope his wife won't spend the money.
The message said the money was deposited by Eun Ae.
I really don't want Min Ho to get Seung Ri. He is not worthy of her.
