I'm going to be the outlier here and say this wasn't a good beginning for me. I was already iffy on the premise of a man who is in a relationship going back and forth between his adult self and child self but I was willing to give this a try and see how they worked it out. So far...for me the beginning wasn't it for me. I'm annoyed that the doctor, who knew enough to check for a brain bleed, but not enough to ask the concussion basic questions of the patient. I'm annoyed that when Pobmek discovered that Solar had regressed or lost his memory, or just simply wasn't his normal self, that he did not take him back to the hospital immediately. Brain issues are nothing to wait and see about or treat with a Thai sponge bath (I know it wasn't done in this show, but I'm alluding to the all healing Thai sponge bath in BLs in general. After he tried to run away and got maced, Pobmeck should have at minimum called Solar's mom, even just a video call, so that she could help keep him safe. I'm annoyed that once he DID talk to Solar's mother, he said absolutely nothing about something that was a serious issue and could be greatly helped by her presence. I'm annoyed he didn't tell his boss that a teacher she relies on was possibly not going to be able to teach for a while until they figured out what was wrong with Solar/Sun. You could still have the story they are trying to tell, but make it not completely illogical. I will keep watching the next few episodes, but I may wait so that I can binge. I will also say, I'm annoyed by how Sammy has been styled in this series. If she had been the art teacher or at least had come off as whimsical as her outfit and makeup, it would have made sense. But so far, as a principal, who would mainly be dealing with teachers and parents, it's a bit off putting. I'm hoping they show her being like this fun, bubbly teacher who is a free spirit around the kids to explain why she chooses to dress like that in the roll she is in. Lastly, you don't have to agree. This is just my opinion that I thought I would share. I am hoping that the show changes my mind, because I do like Perth and Santa and Sammy.
Duang is quickly becoming my favorite character. Him screaming for Qin at the basketball game was hilarious. He has no shame and I love that about him. Same goes for Jamie. I love that he loves Duang out loud and proud. They have they better friend group. I'm not going to lie, North and Otto have out of this world chemistry and their meet up would have been a 10/10 for me, if it wasn't for the English. Here is my take on English in these shows where English isn't the primary language. It has to make sense in the scene. When Thomas spoke English in his meeting with foreigners in Your Sky, it made sense. Much like in Playboy, random English for now reason is cringe. If you both speak your native tongue, unless in English class or even when it's used like saying something cute/sweet about your crush in English, because the person with doesn't speak it, it makes sense. But just randomly saying it...ugh. I cannot. I'm sorry for the rant. I'm sure others won't agree, but I had to speak my truth. EEEEyuck! And with out it, it would have be lava hot! And a fantastic introduction to them as a pairing. Overall, though, I loved this episode. Glad we finally got the showcase and we can move on to the romance. And while I think going from kissing to naked shower time in the span of 2 minutes is...alot, they delivered and I cannot wait for next week. Duang shifting from sweet to sexy was amazing to behold. And Qin going from pouty to seductress was also a thing of beauty! Soft Qin might be my favorite and I need more of him aoning Duang. That snuggle was sooo cute!
Literally couldn't watch the ending on 2x speed, it was that bad. The premise was good, I'm all for mess. But they made Jimmy too much of an asshole and did NOTHING to redeem him. They made Toh too big of a pushover, and snowed zero personal growth. This would have been a much better series if Toh had truly gone with Freeze and dated him for awhile. He was too good of a person to have zero feelings for, even if it wasn't true love. Toh could have gained his confidence back with Freeze and then when Freeze asks him to go abroad years later ( a time skip was desperately needed to save this series), Toh chooses to stay, not for Jimmy, but because his business was thriving and that isn't a sacrifice he was willing to make. They would both be sad, but know they each weren't each others forever love, so it would be the right decision. eanwhile, in those years after losing Toh, Jimmy changes!! He stops being an asshole, he stop drinking himself to desth, he tries to move on. Yes, he misses Toh, but he gets why he lost him. Maybe he writes Toh a letter apologizing and wishing him the best. He volunteers at the vet clinic, he starts being active at school activities instead of partying all the time. Is he lonely, sure, but he dates time to time, learning how to be a decent human being in a relationship. I needed to see him grow and change and ATONE for how he treated Toh. Not see Toh jump to immediately into 'rescuing' Jimmy, forgiving him after a half ass apology and the sleeping with him. Ugh....just. The potential was there, but the writing fell through.
Duang should absolutely be an unlikable character, much like Jade in MML, but somehow TeeTee makes it work. This episode was great, and I cannot wait to see Qin finally give into his feelings.
So Jimmy feels bad, but does absolutely nothing to make up for all he has said and done? And it looks like Toh will go back to Jimmy because Jimmy might do something to hurt himself. This entire series could have been fixed (although you would never catch me falling for, nor crying for the likes of Jimmy), if instead of entire episode of Jimmy getting drunk, they had shown Jimmy OPENLY doing things for Toh, to show that he has changed. Leaving the medicine means nothing, because Toh didn't even know who it was from. If they had shown Jimmy doing things for Toh, showing up at the cafe and instead of begging for Toh to come back for HIS sake, sincerely apologizing for everything he did, like he did with Run. Having a bigger time skip where instead of Jimmy becoming a drunkard, he starts cleaning up his act so much that everyone talks about it, and it gets back to the cafe, for Toh to hear. Over hearing that Jimmy rejects everyone who approaches him because " he isn't ready to move on from the love that he messed up", would go a long way in showing WHY Toh would even consider going back to Jimmy, imo. I needed Toh's apology to Dr, Freeze to be better. Dr. Freeze didn't deserve to be apart of Jimmy and Toh's foolishness. I will say, I'm glad this is almost over. I can only watch it at 2x speed, which is not something I usually do. Fah snd Teh are hot though, so it helps redeem the show a bit.
The only one I feel sorry for is Dr. Freeze. He has no idea he is in the presence of a basket full of deplorables. Toh pissrd me off this episode along with Teh. What has Jimmy done to have Teh go from hating Jimmy to tryimg to get Teh to forgive him ?!?! Jimmy has only said sorry, but not for what and what he plans to do to fix it. So far, he is only thinking about himself. And stupid Toh falls for it every time. Who cares if he is sad, he didn't come runny every ti e he made you cry, why are you running every time he has a problem? And Toh using the doctor to get back at Jimmy is gross. I was engaged in this, but and still am, but I have to watch at 2x speed, cause these characters are terrible people.
Well, I'm sat and seated. Definitely not sure how this is going to ever progress to BL territory, but I honestly don't need it to. I'm here for the absolute hot mess that is about to happen. I'm also excited to see Fort and Peat get to act in this kind of series. Kelvin's crazy eyes are immaculate, he is genuinely scary.
Teh, you're pissing me off! First, you were a terrible friend, now you're a terrible brother! WTF! I honestly don't know they (the show) expect to redeem Jimmy. He hasn't shown any remorse or accountability for his actions yet. He is mainly upset that Yoh isn't crawling back like he thought he would. I need to see Jimmy beg and for a long time. And if Teh helps him, knowing all that Jimmg did, so help me!
The ending had me rolling my eyes. I knew that was going to happen, but even though Koch suffered for a year he…
I think Koh understood what he did, when they showed him going to the picture of his mother and crying. He said that he was as stupid as his father, who leaned toward one extreme. Koh went the other way, but it still was an extreme, to the point that it ruined his life, therefore he was just as stupid. I would have been fine if they all went their separate ways, but I think in this instance, the series portrayed that love is complicated and we often don't do the smart thing in love, we follow our emotions. The heart wants what it wants, and if after a year Jira could not move on, he might as well see where they would lead. He even admits, he is skeptical of them even working out. I agree with you, though, it will probably be a mess most of the time.
Visually stunning. Amazing concept of juxta positioning art, obsession, AI/tech advances, capitalism, longing, trauma and choices. Every actor did an amazing job, but my MVP is Off this time. Gun stole the show in Not Me, but Off in this series was soo vulnerable, but also snide and infuriating. He was not a likeable character, but because he was so flawed, you (I did at least) feel sorry for him. He was pitiable. He was also soo sexy. You understand why Jira sees him a muse in the beginning and ends up falling for him, despite how deeply flawed Koh was. It is funny to me, that Koh was considered to least human (behavior wise) by the other characters. But I argue, he was the most human. He was selfish, but generous. He was formidable but weak. He was so deeply flawed a person, but he knew that, owned it, but also did not do anything to change it. He was most people are, but pretend they aren't because it doesn't look good. I am so glad that Jira does not go back to him until a year later, because I do think Koh needed that time to see where he went wrong and that Jira needed to come to terms with his feelings for Koh. Like he said, he tried not to paint him, but in the end, his feelings won out. And if that is not the hallmark of a great artist? At least in my opinion it is. What was obvious to me in the difference between the painting that Jira created and the AI image that Koh generated was the emotion behind it. Dew was also amazing. He played the role of the "right" choice for Jira, despite being flawed himself. He was the ML we should root for, because for a time, Jira would have been happy. But like both Pheem and Koh said in the end, Jira makes Koh more human and I think Koh makes Jira more grounded. I imagine that Koh and Jira will be that couple that fights all the time, has passionate sex and then get back together again. Jira will be inspired by Koh and Koh will have some of his trauma healed, therefore he will make better, maybe even more morally guided decisions in business. It will be a flawed relationship, but it will work for them, much like most solid relationships. I'm going to miss this show. This won't be a comfort show for me, but I would definitely revisit, especially as time goes by and technology does start to advance further into art, just to see how well this will hold up, story wise.
I agree about Uea. As an actor, James was able to play super sexy well. While I agree, I am totally over the super virginal lead being reserved, sometimes even terrified of sex, Poom is doing so much that it detract from the show. While it honestly, for me, does the opposite of its intent, it comes off unsexy/a turn off. Which ruins the show about two MLs who are super sexual, both of whom are using sex to cope with various traumas. CopyABangkok almost always has great ideas that then get ruined by terrible acting, terrible direction and a script that goes too far but not in a good way. I get what they are trying to do, but it rarely lands. Which sucks because they honestly do some unique story/plots that would contribute to the broadening landscape of BL/queer media.
The director of this makes mostly terrible BLs, so I'm not surprised. Do NOT know why he was able to make so many bad series and still be employed. Today's episode made zero sense and was literally edited like they had a bunch of extra scenes and threw them together. This is very much like Playboyy, but I feel like Playboyy had more of a plot. Same director.
They better make Jimmy suffer for like 3-4 episodes, honestly he deserves more. And I am so glad they got another guy to come in for Toh. Maybe someone to show how him how someone who loves you is supposed to treat you, because obviously he cannot figure it out hisself.
This is so crazy but I looked up who directed this and it was the same director as Bed Friend. So I am guessing this is both poor directorial choice and a terrible acting performance. But now that I've seen his other directing jobs, it explains why this went bad so fast. He has a long list of could have been good, but ended up sucking series. Sigh...this may have to get dropped by me.
At least in scenes where sex isn't even a possibility. Honestly, I'll compare it to James in Bed Friends, he was a vixen when it was time to get down and dirty, but at work and when they were talking, he was just a normal person. Peem/Po acting that way in literally every scene with Sasom is annoying. He didn't act that way with his best friend, so this is definitely either a acting choice and or directorial choice. But all falls on the director for letting it happen.
Man, what a powerful episode. I love what this series is doing discussing art, AI, mental health issues, vanity, sexual desire vs love, longing, obsession. It wasn't a long series but it managed to fit so much in to discuss, to mull over, to sit with. It was so interesting to see Koh go from loving, caring, sweet, funny, playful and cute to this shell of a human, who in exploring what he likes, totally disregards the feels, thoughts and opinions of someone he likes. He would have immediately gone after someone who took his work and used it for their gain, and yet saw no problem with doing it to Jira. I do feel bad for Jira, because he anticipated that Koh would hurt him eventually. He was prepared for that. But I don't think he thought it would come in a way that would literally make him obsolete. And how can you go back to that, to Koh? Even if he deletes the images, gives back all the original work, and promises to never do it again, he has shown that he valued his own interests and money over something that is literally apart of what made him like Jira in the first place. I cannot wait to see how this ends. I'm not interested in anyone ending up with anyone. But I cannot picture the ending and I love that about this series.
I'm not one who needs an intricate plot to enjoy a series. My Stubborn barely had one, but it worked for me (mostly). Episode one was a pretty solid start to the show except for the distracting lip stick on literally everyone. But this second episode....it could have been a good series. I forget that CopyABankok likes to take pretty decent stories, interesting and new stories add weird scenes and camera shots (why are you looking at me while your ass is getting ate out?!), and ruin what could have been a good series. Say what you will about Playboyy, the plot was interesting and it wasn't executed poorly in most of the series. But then CopyA does their thing and then you get cringe tv. And I don't even mind cringev, if done well...but they don't... do it well. First, who ever is the MUA on this series... count your days. Why was Sasom's hair sticking straight up in the front for the entire episode? Why did Po have on orange eye shadow and bright fuchsia lipstick on, when he was supposed to be asleep? It is soooo distracting on a show, where someone got their ass ate out! second, Who ever told Poom to act this way as Po...why does he talk like he's always seducing Sasom, no matter what they are doing? It's just weird and off putting and frankly...not sexy. I think it makes it worse, because Ki is actually doing a good job acting, AND being seductive/horny so juxtaposed against each other, its even more glaring. It sort of made sense in last week's episode, but now its just over the top, imo. Third, what was the second pair's purpose this episode....it was kind of pointless, plot wise. They meet...okay? It was impossibly slow and I had it at 2x speed. Last, wasn't Po supposed to be having all this sex with Sasom online? So far, they have only been hooking up, is Peach Lover done? I blame the director for most of these complaints I have. It just is disappointing that a show with such potential could so quickly go down hill. I don't know if I'm dropping this...but I'm probably okay to wait and binge it at 2x speed.
This show should have been called Basket Full of Deplorables. I don't like a single character. Fah, what was the reason of flirting with Jimmy, just to Teh could see, even though you knew that Jimmy was manipulating everyone. Why hasn't Teh come right out and said to his 'beloved brother', Jimmy really wants Fah, but is sleeping with you to get back at me for sleeping with Fah. He doesn't really want Fah, and he sleeps with multiple people. And then provide that proof, which wouldn't be hard, just shoot the shit with all of your mutual friends, talk about Jimmy being a player and record it. It would probably take less than 5 minutes to get a dearth of info. Record what he says to you about Toh. As stupid as Toh is, that has to at least help what ever 'plan' you and Fah came up with. There are no words for how terrible Jimmy is. Not even getting his perspective at the end, changed my mind about him. He is a awful, no good, dirt bag and I pray this show (despite him being a fixed ship with Kad/Toh) ends with him all alone. Do I know that they are going to do the half baked plan that Fah and Teh came up with and have Toh give up and then Jimmy is going to change his ways because he loves him. Well, of course. But that would really make this show amazing, if Jimmy ends up alone and Toh finally grows a back bone and ends up with someone he hired to work at the no existent cafe. Finally, honestly, I think I like him the least, Toh. I don't have any sympathy for him. That man literally heard the entire plan immediately after giving him his virginity and he was like, but he's cute and he treats me like crap most of the time, so I'm going to stick beside him. Why did he break in to Jimmy's place in the middle of the night? They literally gave zero reason for it. I don't blame Jimmy for this singular response. Then to show again, apologize, give him your body and then not even whisper a complaint when he didn't take his dick out of you before he told you to skedaddle!? And by the way, feed my cat on your way out! WTF!? Eeeeeyuck! I need him to grow the strongest back bone by next week. Now all this, isn't to say I'm not enjoying the show. I love a good mess and this is the most toxic mess since maybe My Stand In. Not as good, story or acting wise, but it's not nearly as bad as Bad Guy My Boss. I definitely want to see what happens next, so it's doing its job of keeping me engaged. I hope next week they not only introduce the ex of Jimmy's that seems to break through Toh's stupidness, but that during the cafe hiring, Toh meets a hunk to compete with Jimmy.
