While I thoroughly enjoyed this series and it will instantly become a comfort series/rewatch series for me, Domundi has a problem with their side couples. Thinking back, I don't think they have really done well with a side couple since Cutie Pie with MaxNat. I could maybe argue AuAuSave were a good side ship, but we should have had more with them than we did. I feel like Khun Yai and and Kongdio had a fleshed out story line and enough screen time as couple. They even did a good job of the third couple in Cutie Pie with TutorYim. Every Domundi series since has been down hill. While I loved the cute running date that Marvis and Jamie had, it seemed to be written with out any purpose. And it's purpose should have been Jamie asking Marvis to be his boyfriend. It was the perfect opportunity for it and that is what I thought that scene was going to be. Then they missed the opportunity again when Marvis joined the group. There was another opportunity to at least finish their story together. And it isn't like this episode didn't have plenty of time. In fact, (I'll state again I LOVED this series) this last episode felt like it had run out of story and they were just showing what ever. I love a DMD NC scene, and yes, usually they are extra long, but normally, the couple is doing all the things. Today's NC scene seemed extra slow with very little happening. Lots of staring at each other. Okay fine, whatever. But everything after that could have been devoted to JamieMarvis. Overall, I loved this series, but I do hope Domundi realizes that if they are going to include a side couple , they have to write enough story for the side couple.
You're so right about JackRaffy... They could've made some flashback scenes where Jack flirts/sleeps with Raffy…
I agree on Earth. I love EarthMix, but I knew that they couldn't pull this off when they announced the casting. I was really hopeful they would surprise me, kind of like Force surprised me and even Book in their performance in Only Friends (not so much ForceBook together, but their individual performances.) I will say Mix as Dean is well acted, but it's not all there either.
I'm going to have to call it. The first one is way better. Like in every thing. Acting, script, soundtrack (although I like song that AouBoom have together for this). I'll start with my biggest complaint, which is Tua's outfits. He consistently been dressed as if he was the character Stuart from Mad TV and it infuriates me. No one else has terrible wardrobe. And Gawin being tall probably doesn't help, but it is obvious that this a deliberate styling choice and it was the worst decision in this whole series, and that says alot considering this show is not working how they wanted it to. You cannot change my mind on this, I will be taking no further questions on the subject. Now on to the rest. It's a small thing, but the swing dancing was cringe. And the OG OF had cringe stuff as well, but somehow this was worse and instead of being sweet I found myself rolling my eyes. On this part though, I'll admit this is probably just me, because I know the intention behind it was to get to the ending of the show where Arnold asks Tua to be his boyfriend. I'm also going to have to admit, I don't like Tua....or I don't like how Gawin is playing Tua. Something about this performance isn't working for me, although I like Joss as Arnold and I like both actors and this pairing. It may also be the directing for this that is making it not click for me. Next, I am annoyed to the max with Raffy. And kind of with Rome. Here is where the script and the direction are ruining these characters. So far, there has been nothing to like about Raffy. Even though Boston was terrible, you kind of loved to hate him. He was also awful in an extreme way, and Raffy is simply annoying and whiny. So what you like Jack. He has told you on more than one occasion he doesn't like you, so get over it. I think if the script had made it that Jack was the super friendly type who flirts with everyone making Raffy get his hopes up, or if at one point Jack and Raffy had slept together and then he ghosted Raffy, so Raffy is always trying to get back with him, it would make more sense story wise. But Raffy simply having a crush is not enough to justify everything he has been doing. Rome is also annoying because why would you confess your feelings knowing that Raffy hasn't changed how he feels and or acts. Rome knew that he recorded that video to break of Jack and Dean to get a chance to be with Jack. Why make this character act so surprised and hurt that Raffy did the thing he was doing the entire time right in front of Rome's face? I wish they had kept Rome continuing to act aloof, at least in front of Raffy, instead of breaking down. The entire deliver flowers to the wrong person and having to run for their lives was weird and out of place. Not only with this particular show, but both series. It was kind of slapsticky and it do anything for the show. If they wanted to get to the alley way wedding confession (?), they could have literally delivered the flowers as normal, admired how romantic it all was, walked to the alley way holding hands and then delivered the same scene. Running away from a knife wielding lunatic was so out of left field. And finally, all Dean and Arnold had to do after their talk AND the reveal from Rome that Raffy knew and made a recording was go sit down and confess to Jack and Tua. They didn't do anything wrong, they were both extremely drunk and technically they weren't going out with any one when it happened. Confessing and just sincerely apologizing and maybe swearing off getting drunk again, should have sufficed. AND why did Dean go and antagonize Raffy just because he thought the evidence was gone?! Like Dean, Raffy hates you because you are terrible to him, and he keeps coming up with ways (pretty good ones too) to get back at you, you might want to stop poking at him. This entire episode was annoying, barely held my attention, was poor written and didn't really live up to the original OF drama. Honestly, the whole show hasn't. To be frank, the first one was hotter. Even ForceBook, who were pretty tame most of the time, had hotter scenes than any of the ones we have had so far. I didn't want to compare, I was trying to reserve judgement because I kind of knew it would be this way based on the cast, but I'm disappointed because I was kind of hoping to be surprised by this casts performance. I've seen them all do good work, but this isn't it...at least for me.
Well, I'm writing this to say that now episode 11 is my favorite. It literally had everything! It was sad (Duang telling Qin's parents that a hug is all that it takes to fix things between them and Qin, gah, ripped my heart out), it was funny (Qin with his friends never fails to make me laugh out loud. And Duang's Mom was freaking hilarious!!), it was impossibly sweet and romantic (literally the entire episode with Qin and Duang), and it was sexy (even though they didn't even really kiss the entire episode!) The writing and directing for this are amazing, but the acting, especially TeeTee's Duang, is top tier. It was like they said, act like you are a dog who found your favorite person, how would you behave and TeeTee performs it perfectly! Duang is my new favorite character, and I'm not sure how anyone could top him. I'm going to miss this show, but it will be one that I rewatch all the time.
I LOVE that Qin just says what ever he is thinking and that he insist that Duang does as well. This is some elite communications skills, and I am here for it. Especially when you consider the last half of the show is devoted to Qin revealing the abuse he went through (that was so hard to watch, especially the shaking of that baby) and how his ability to communicate diminished because of what he experienced. And because his parents were not there for him in a meaningful way, it is kind of a miracle that he is able to not only communicate his thoughts and needs, but also keeps it open for Duang to. I also LOVE the friendship between Duang, Jamie and Pae. It is also so open and honest and communicative. They love each other out loud and it is so refreshing to see. They are so ride or die for each other and it is adorable. North and Otto didn't do any English this episode and I am really grateful. Instead, we got sultry and flirty. I can't wait for a clarification of their relationship, cause why do they act like they aren't fully dating right now?!😂😂 Duang is my new favorite character, just slightly surpassing Khun Thee.
Yeah! SandRay are back! They are cute and I love them, both SandRay and FirstKhao. I will say, I keep waiting for all the tension from the first season, but I kind of knew with this cast, I wasn't going to get it. The closest to that is definitely AouBoom. I knew they would deliver what needed to be delivered. Now that isn't to say that it isn't gag worthy, cause Dean and RomeRaffy shenanigans have my jaw dropping. I think what would have set this episode in the same kind of space is if they showed a flashback to Rome changing his mind and actually sleeping with Pete. Then it would have the same shock value, if you will, as OF1. I also wish Jack and Dean's stair scene went a little further. Imo, it needed to be hotter. It needed to be longer and not shot from under the stairs where everything was hidden. Jack is my least favorite character so far, especially in this episode. And not in a I hate Boston kind of way. He is just whiny and passive aggressive and for someone who says they aren't together AND that this play is important to him, he sure is doing everything he can to ruin both. As of right now, as much as I like JossGawin, I don't really care about their story line. I loved the cute eating scene though, so I'm hopeful something more dramatic than the money thing will happen and have me interested in their pairing. Side note: as someone who is supposed to be in fashion design and literally is a costume designer, I hate his wardrobe! He doesn't dress his body type and it looks like a kid who got dressed by his mom. Imo. (shorts, the white sock, black shoes combo is killing me, especially with his long legs) Speaking of long legs, I feel bad for those girls who had to stand behind AouBoom during the concert. They were head and shoulders taller than literally everyone in the room, so it looked silly, but what could they do?😂
I didn't know it from the trailer but this might be the best BL this year. It is going to be hard to top this and I have like quite a few. This is the perfect feel good series. Like butterflies in your tummy, heart eye emoji, slapping the air, saccharine sweet show that is so hard to do with out being cringe and they some how managed to do it. I think this was what they were trying to do with Middleman's Love but they had a terrible director (with a terrible track record), and it just works. Duang should be annoying as hell, but instead he has become my favorite character ever. I'll have to say, as a company, DMD is hitting it out the park with their pairings and their series. Now I need more attention paid to JimmyOhm and AuauSave to see what these side ships can really do. Speaking of side couples, I am liking where NorthOtto's story is going. Typically when you have a bedfriend to lover scenario, one of the pairing is hesitant in a mean/abrupt kind of way that they have to later apologize for or beg the other person to give them a chance. Not in this case and I really like it. They both agreed to be bed buddies, they both are casual, but you can see they are catching feelings. They bring it up again casually but with no pressure or pretense. Just a gentle, "here is what I'm feeling". They are playful yet respectful of each other. Marvis was within his right to accept the guy flirting with him, especially since they just discussed they have no status. But he respected that Jamie was feeling some type of way about him and respected the relationship for what it is and allowed both of them to figure that out without playing games. I really enjoyed that. I also like both characters. So far their have no annoying side characters, no one I hate to see come on the screen. Even Mama and Daddy, who I know are not perfect parents, weren't necessarily painted as the villain but more like regular parents who aren't perfect, have probably done things to hurt Qin, but are trying. Like real parents. I'm enjoying everything about this series, the writing, directing, the acting and the OST have all been great so far. I hope they continue where they left off at the end of the episode, cause WTF Qin!
You know, Platboyy also came to my mind when I watching this series. Playboyy was very messy but at least it was…
Yeah, I usually don't look either, but this started so badly that I peaked and it all became clear to me. I agree that I want CC to be good, because TutorYim deserve a real DMD series that they know will be good. I actually like Battle of the Writers, but they didn't make that available here in the US (currently rewatching to see if I still like it and having to use a VPN to watch it on BilliBilli in 480 hd makes me angry.) so the show didn't do as well as it could have. I need someone to harness the off screen chemistry between them and put it on screen.
You know, Platboyy also came to my mind when I watching this series. Playboyy was very messy but at least it was…
So the director for this was also the director for Playboyy. He honestly is responsible for almost all of terrible BLs like ever. Which is crazy because he has few iconic ones, like Lovesick (season 2) and Lovesick 2024. Both of which were great for traditional, if you have never seen a bl before, this is what it should look like, just two cute boys who fall in love. He did Bedfriends, and while traumatic, it was a good BL, same for Secret Crush on You (I know not everyoe likes that series, but I loved it because it was camp, it was supposed to be over the top.) But he also did SunTiny, Middleman's Love and War of Y (and every other series with the Y in it). He is definitely not a consist director and some how is either writing these as well or finds the worst writing possible and runs with it or finds good plots and ruins them. Because honestly, looking at his work, all of his stories were interesting and then they go left like you mentioned in Playboyy. He has two shows coming, one with TutorYim and another with MaxNat. Both pairings having stared in some of his worst work and kind of ruined their images as actors, so I'm scared for them.
I never thought I would say this, but Playboyy was better. At least it tried to have a plot. I could not tell anyone what this show was about. I thought I would be able to from the first episode, but it's like they had an idea, put all of that idea in the first episode and then just kind of gave up. They also know that if they put crazy NC scenes in a series, people will watch just for that. But if you are considering watching this, the NC scenes aren't worth it. The bad makeup and hair and audio and terrible acting are so distracting that it's not even hot anymore. Just go rewatch My Stubborn or LITA or if you truly need to see something so crazy and out there, go check out Therapy (warning that show is not for the weak). But this wasn't it.
What a rollercoaster of emotions! This was my favorite episode so far, I'm almost scared to watch what could possibly top it. Duang has quickly become my favorite character of all time. Not going to lie, Qin in the bar scene pissed me off. He could have gone and said hello and gone back to Duang and friends, because that is who he came with. He had sooo many opportunities to just excuse himself and go back. Then when he played the game, he could have said his heart went up because he was looking at his man, not because of the question. And while I do think he should have gone back with Tiw to clear things up, he took too long doing it! I just needed him to clearly say once, I don't like you anymore because I have moved on to Duang. The end. That was the only part I was irritated about, but I get they had to have that part to have the confession scene. Qin finally being open and honest with Duang. Boldly saying that he wants to show up for Duang the way Duang has show up for him, melted my heart. I also love how Qin didn't melt in a way that is typical when one character is cold acting in the beginning and then "changes" when he falls in love. He was the same old Qin, but like he said, he just showed more of himself. He was so frank and honest with Duang, so when Duang broke down after Qin said he chose him, it made so much sense for Duang to loose it. TeeTee did such a great job in that scene. Honestly so did Por. And then....The SWEETNESS EXPLOSION!!! It was so lovey dovey mushy gushy after that and I love it all. I will say, while I like North and Otto's story line and their development, I have not been a fan of the excessive English their characters are using. So I was really glad that it was toned down this episode and fit the conversation they had. It was more natural sounding that is has been in the past episode. They are cute together, so I'm looking forward to more of their story. Side note: The music for this episode was immaculate!
First of all Solars issue isn’t physical…it’s psychological. A general doctor couldn’t have figured that…
In what universe did I say I wanted all my questions answered in the first episode? I agree that the first episode is supposed to make me curious to keep me watching, but my point is that the writing of this particular show did not do that. That is my point. Good storytelling should make me curious to continue, and my entire point of my original post is that this opening episode did not meet my expectations fully to want to watch this next week. Unlike say for instance, Revenged Love (which I should note that I did not love as much as everyone else seemed to, but still enjoyed) or ABO Desire or Fourever You (which is similar in that the whole story is not laid out right at the beginning), where I wanted to keep watching, I wanted the week to go by fast in order to see the next episode. I am saying that for me, this series did not do that in the first episode. Maybe it will improve, but I'm not hopeful, because again, first impressions matter (although I have changed my mind about a show or two in the past.) As for whether or not Solar's/Sun's problem is medical or psychological, neither of us have that answer, since the doctor did not do a through exam of him, nor refer him to a psychologist to make an assessment. And yes, medical issues can trigger psychological problems, the root cause of the trigger is still medical. If I suffer from psychosis when ever I eat gluten, while the psychosis is a psychological problem, the cause is medical and would probably be treated medically. While I appreciate your mostly respectful discourse, you don't have to respond to this post, you won't change my mind about what I found bothersome in the first episode. I will watch the next episode to see if the questions I have will be answered. And if more questions arise, or critics of the next episode happen again for me, I still may post about it. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series critic free.
First of all Solars issue isn’t physical…it’s psychological. A general doctor couldn’t have figured that…
While I understand what you are saying, there is a difference in the series and in your example. 1) They are both grown ups in this situation. Your example, while technically an adult, 19 is barely that, so your decision makes sense. 2) Your friend was able to tell you not to call her mom. Solar/Sun did not have that option, as it was from the mind of a child. All you were doing was respecting her wishes. 3) If the series had never shown Solar's mom on the phone after it had all happened, I probably would not be as bothered by it, because she had already said she was out of town. But Pobmek did actually call her in the middle of the night to tell her about the accident, so his mom was already worried. It was a perfect time to at minimum ask her to come as soon as she could to help him manage. Or to arrange for Solar's mother to call back once Sun woke up. He chose to lie instead and there wasn't a reason given. Maybe they will tell us next time, but for now, it's not really logical when Sun/Solar could hurt himself trying to get away from the "strange man". I'm sure Pobmek's story will be revealed with time, but if it has any baring on his decisions shown thus far, again, good storytelling would have at least alluded to there being a problem.
First of all Solars issue isn’t physical…it’s psychological. A general doctor couldn’t have figured that…
Again, the only way to know that is to call his mother. If he didn't recognize her, then at least, she would have experience dealing with a seven year old. What was shown was that she was a great teacher, so at minimum, she could have helped keep Solar/Sun safe. He was pepper sprayed while trying to run away after having been in an accident. Keeping him safe should have been Pobmek's only priority.
First of all Solars issue isn’t physical…it’s psychological. A general doctor couldn’t have figured that…
I'm sorry, I don't understand your point. The only reason I believed Pobmek should have called Solar's mother is because Sun would recognize his mother, since he is seven years old. He wouldn't recognize any of the people you mentioned because again, he is 7 years old. He would know his mom, and she could calm him down, and even virtually convinced him to trust Pobmek until she got there.
First of all Solars issue isn’t physical…it’s psychological. A general doctor couldn’t have figured that…
I did pay attention to the details. The first episode is supposed to make me want to watch the next episode. So these concerns that you believe will be addressed in the next episode should have been addressed in this last episode, so that I would want to come to the next episode. As for the issue that Solar has, it's not psychological, as it was the result of a medical trauma. Even so, medical doctors have to take some psychology to be able to refer those who aren't having medical issues to psychology. As a person in the field of psychology, I know that an emergency room doctor who examined someone hit by a car and diagnosed a concussion would ask Solar some basic questions to rule out anything out of the ordinary. Like his name at bare minimum. Most doctors would have made him stay the night to rule out unexpected issues, because brain injuries are very tricky. Doctors aren't supposed to dismiss patients "acting weird" because when someone is injured in the way Solar was, acting weird is an indication that something medical is going on. So me talking about concussions doesn't mean that I don't know the primary source of his age regression. The show led me to believe that his age regression is due to his accident and injury to his head. As that is all I have to go by, that is what I am basing my opinion on. As for Pobmek not wanting to tell the principal about Solar not being well in front of Jee, while his feeling about Jee are immature and I expect him to act immature around Jee for other things, this is not the time to be that way, if that is truly the reason he didn't tell her. They are all adults and Solar's job needs time to find a substitute in case he is unwell. He could have pulled her to the side if anything. Unfortunately, we will have to agree to disagree. I will probably watch the whole thing, but I reserve the right to critic this show, because it is my right. I do hope you continue to enjoy it, because that is your right.
Overall, I loved this series, but I do hope Domundi realizes that if they are going to include a side couple , they have to write enough story for the side couple.
