It's the first time I watch a drama with Jang Seung Jo and I'm quite fascinated by his eyes. I've never seen anyone…
So I take this to mean you haven't seen The Good Detective yet? This was the drama that brought Jang Seung Jo to my attention, and I love it so much I find myself re-watching it every 6 months or so - highly recommend!
I didn't enjoy episode 6 much, because I don't really care about the second couple. I like what Bi Chwi stands for, but I don't seem to like her much, and I like Kwon Si Wook even less. Him saying they won't work because she won't compromise rubs me the wrong way - these are her values, why should she compromise them? There was no mention whatsoever of him needing to compromise too.
The second lead has 0 chemistery with The FL lead and for me he is not a good guy beacuse he want to force the…
Agreed. If anything, Hara is the one with the bigger red flag as she's clearly not ready to be in this relationship. She's even comparing him to her ex.
Him rushing things makes me uncomfortable, because it makes Hara uncomfortable, but she's not communicating this and therefore I don't believe he's at fault for it.
Completed this drama and yes, there's lots of red herrings, and I saw comments saying that even the writers didn't…
I have one small confusion though, a niggling question about a loose end they didn't even address. What about the legal consequences of the ML assuming another identity? Isn't that a pretty serious offense?
Completed this drama and yes, there's lots of red herrings, and I saw comments saying that even the writers didn't seem to know who the killer was until halfway through. But, I guessed the culprit in episode two, so clearly the confusion was simply deliberate obfuscation. Even though I knew who did it, it wasn't boring at all - the cast are some of my favourite actors for a reason.
Heh the leads have the best dynamic, it's hilarious. I wouldn't call it romance, because their banter is absolutely brilliant as friends, but I also wouldn't say you couldn't read it like that if you really wanted to.
i've never been able to finish even one drama of JCW.... i got quite far in "wish upon me" though. but i still…
Yeah, the only one I've finished of his is Healer (not sure if I'd finish it these days, as that was years ago) but with Shin Hye Sun, and this writer and director, it looks very promising.
i believe there is something else , it's no way it's just that reason for the divorce .. i believe there is something…
It was the little things. Her wanting to watch a horror movie when he wanted to relax. Her turning the aircon off when he was too hot, ect. His character flaws, as I explained above, are poor communication and avoiding conflict. Whether the FL would have conceded to divorce or not, we won't know, but the important thing is he believed she wouldn't.
I really like the FL, and she is a good person. But she's not perfect, and I strongly empathise with her, because I have much the same character flaws.
He did not want to try counselling. He knew the FL would want to try that, and he just wanted to avoid the conflict that would cause. Cheating would be a quick out, and then it would be over. He wanted out so badly that he was willing to be financially ruined. He wanted out before a child happened, because then he knew there would be no going back.
I am sceptical of the 10 years, but living and sharing your space with someone , even someone you love, can be hard. They probably should have tried living together before they got married, but that might've raised a few eyebrows in their culture, so it makes some degree of sense why they didn't know entirely what it would be like.
We clearly have different opinions on what marriage is. In my culture, it's not particularly important, and I know very few who have been married. All of them got a divorce within 3-5 years, so it's clearly not something easy. And some people have a tendency to seek the easy route out, which is clearly one of the ML's flaws. Though I do agree, the cheating was a bit much and very hurtful, but I've seen so much Kdrama logic over the years that this could be considered reasonable in comparison to some of the wild things characters do for poorer reasons.

I think giving us another reason now would be shittier writing. Here, he's clearly got the character flaws in a)poor communication and b)inability to stand up for himself and now the next several episodes can be spent addressing those problems and giving character growth. Instead of introducing unnecessary plot points and neglecting the characters for the sake of drama.
It also gives the FL character flaws of her own - she's not good at recognising when she needs to compromise, and she's very hot-headed when she gets worked up - these are the traits the drama clearly showed were the reasons he was driven to the choices he made (as well as above character flaws).
I like how the end of their marriage, although triggered by the ML, was the fault of them both (though the FL is just realising this). There's some great comments below explaining how legally, it's really quite difficult to get a divorce. In short, the ML did not believe the FL would agree to end the marriage amiably (she would try to fix things - he just wanted out), and so he had to do something that would be unforgivable and thus make her want to let him go.
This is a far more interesting show than I've been led to believe. It probably helps that I actually like legal…
You must've been in luck last year then. Legal dramas were almost all we got. And yeah, definitely recognising Oh Ji-Hyeok in a lot of his mannerisms, which I like, because The Good Detective is one of my favourite dramas.

Yeah no, I think that he has a perfectly justifiable reason already. If there was something else, some identifiable reason he could no longer be married, then he would have been more honest.
Huge fan of Kang So Ra! Hasn't the ML played a lot of bad guys?
He's played the 2ML in a lot of dramas. Not all of those were "good guys" but most recently, he was one of the leads in The Good Detective, and in that he was a main protagonist.
Him rushing things makes me uncomfortable, because it makes Hara uncomfortable, but she's not communicating this and therefore I don't believe he's at fault for it.
It's really descriptive... without actually describing anything. Nice imagery though.
