I didn’t overly love this. Too long and poor design layout, meant various cast members had way more screen time than they should have.
This starts out REALLY strong. The first episode is fast paced and dynamic. The military scenes snd team members were on point and the drama should have had far more of these kinds of scenes. Cut the business stuff down to a smaller qty of issues and edited the growth arc for NWK. Its choppy and doesn’t flow correctly. I’m probably in the minority for saying this but I love a redemption trope and I like how it ended for him, but getting there was a complete mess.
The writing is all over the place. So much drag time. Trying to throw in last minute problems. Rushing other elements. Dragged out the relationship development of the 2 leads so much that when they finally hook up theres no zing it felt meh.
The Chens were my favorite though I cringe every single time we have grown women acting like little girls. I get that a pitch of a voice might be high or even whiny sounding, but the BAD acting of childish tantrums and pouting is ridiculous. It makes asian women look like idiots.
The amount if air time is so unbalanced that if you started this show mid way through you would have no idea who are the leads. Everyone gets a lot of time. Odd.
This is not the best cdrama ever and its honestly exhausting in the end, but its watchable-I just wished it was shorter.
Short simple drama without a lot of depth to it, due to the length most likely. A few usual tropes- but overall a cute show with nice chemistry between the leads.
What the heck? I thought this show was pretty awesome. Who’s rating this? Tweens? Overcritical idiots? Look if you go into these shows looking for anything to criticize you’ll find it. I’ve seen some total pants shows these days but this wasn’t bad. It’s fairly light, the romance is cute. ML definitely pulls it a long but its certainly better than a whole bunch of other dramas coming out at the moment. Get a grip folks and just enjoy the show lol.
Glad thats finished. I stayed for MSH because he’s an incredible actor (and easy on the eyes of course) but that pairing was a trainwreck. I could care less if leads have age differences if there is chemistry- I mean I just saw Midnight Romance Hagwon.. and theres a huge gap there but it wasn’t obvious and the romance was fire… but this oh geez that was a terrible choice for him. I kept thinking where on earth did they find her? Did she have some 1 kiss only clause and what on earth is with the old style drama wide eye frozen fish kiss??? Please Directors please stop that this minute.
The FL looked way older than she is. people complain about her clothing, honestly after being to Korea multiple times, a lot of that you see in women that age commuting to work, sorry folks but thats the fashion over there— however, some of the stuff was just plain weird, and considering she was supposed to be an amazing fashion designer they styled her absolutely trash. my girl is in Korea studying fashion design and no one dresses like that. What a joke. They dressed Camille like they used to style kdrama leads in the 2000s… however the guys were on point, the sister looked fine. The bodyguard fine also, but I guess the harsh hairdo and awful styling for FL was for some reason not sure what???!?!!
The plot was bad too. It felt predictable and off. There was zero chemistry between the leads, the story had so many holes. I waited for the opening scene to pop up again, never did. I was more invested in the sisters love life that is heavily hinted at, and just ends up flat in the final episode- like why lead us to believe they will be together thru the whole show to a nothing burger in the end. The ending is also dumb. She chooses her career over an amazing partner and breaks up never to contact even tho we seem to have forgotten that the internet, kakaotalk, planes etc exist, and the HE has to go running to France give me a break. She needed to get her behind back to Korea and beg for forgiveness because that was silly. He never wanted to break up. Bad storytelling, too much pointless filler stuff. Camille and Frankie were highly annoying. I’m sorry they didn’t seem anything like High end designers. And why is LJH still in jail at the end?
A mature slow burn for adults. Not necessarily for content, but kids just will find this boring and slow. The topics are to be appreciated by a mature audience too. I could really have done without that awful song from the opening credits being overused, if I don’t hear open to page 64 again I’ll be really happy.
Yes it gets a little draggy and could have done with some momentum at the halfway point. The plot around scandal of teachers dating seemed silly, since two other teachers at the Hagwon also liked our leads, if it was so risqué why on earth were they so upset they didn’t get to date them?!?! And at the end the nepotism seemed totally fine cute and supportive if you follow the comments, but whatever.
Overall I liked this show but I was happy to see it end.
I gave this 3 more stars than I gave the first season (a 1 lol). Its still an epic train wreck of bad acting, script and unrealistic behaviors. Just when you think relationships are turning a tide, it goes back to annoying fights. Ugh. This needed some serious editing and work in the plot. Oh well. It also ends abruptly.
“Bizarre twist” is right. What a random pile of wannabe Boys Over Flowers on a low budget. Oh man. Ends so abruptly. Did people really get made to wait for another season?!?
Has Korea lost some imagination in titling shows - I mean at least their English versions. why not just call it the same as the Korean title. “Lovely” has been a little overused of late folks.
I really loved this, however early on its clear where ML’s heart lies and he is pretty solud with no devivations, so enduring the FL’s side plot felt draggy and unecessary for most of the middle to end section of the season. You will feel like you are just going thru the motions of a plot filler, only to spread out the episodes. Its extremely annoying. I would have loved a little better imaginative writing, to follow that plot or do something else entirely that increased the tension with the leads. when everything finally falls into its proper place, I felt like we were as it should be - but sat through at least 10 episodes of pointless viewing. I loved the idea of best friends to lovers and it was done well by the end. Rooting for ML from the start. FL never quite felt believable, she holds back her emotions quite a lot in her acting of this show.
Someone tell me its worth continuing-I’m on ep 3 and really having a hard time staying engaged with this show. Does it get better? I know kdramas can have the need to “just get through the first few” but honestly when theres dramas that hook you from the first ep - this feels like a chore…..

Ending terrible. Explains the poor ratings.
You want 8+’s finish a story to satisfy the audience. This was pants.
