Wait what controversies? Ive been waiting for this show to come out and then waited for it to get subbed. I was surprised to see that it hadnt yet

I'm hesitating to continue with this drama. Thing is I had no idea there was a potential romantic story in this show when I started it (I'm on episode 2 right now). But then someone mentioned that there is some romance so I went to check out some fanmade videos and came across many with eugene han and hye joon. Now I'm usually fine with no romance but all these FMVs have me rooting for these two characters. At the same time most people wrote in their reviews that it's almost impossible that hye joon ended up with Eugene han. I'd like to clarify that I'm perfectly fine with open endings where it's sort of left up to us to interpret whether the characters ended up together or not. But if there really is no feeling from hye joon's side I don't think I want to watch this and be disappointed....so basically in short I want to know what's everyone's take on the two of them? Is there more possibility of hye joon being with Eugene or does she like go soo's character more?

Somehow i loved the movie's endings more than the novel's. "Some day we'll walk in broad daylight for the world to see" says chen nian halfway into the movie. The ending? Both of them walking in broad daylight with their heads held high (i think the student's head lowered next to chen nian makes it even clearer that she now holds her head high). And bei ye follows, no hood or cap in sight. He's looking straight at the camera. I just loved the ending

Can someone tell me who is ho jung? They mentioned her episode 3's epilogue when Mr. Jang visited her mother but im on episode 7 and they still havent mentioned who she is. Did i miss something?

Agreed. I really like song seung hoon's acting but lee jin wook as do kang woo cant be topped. He was phenomenal. I keep saying this: the makers definitely kept the possibility that do kang woo is alive. If they truly wanted to conclude his character we would have had a proper closure but we didnt. It was all very vague. And since bang je soo is back in the picture, it only makes sense that do kang woo is brought back too. They cant conclude bang je soo's arc in season 5 without do kang woo. I hope lee jin wook comes back and i hope they air this on ocn.

I really want to see him in another drama with park eun bin. They were seriously robbed when they did not get best couple award. Its sad that the ghost detective did not get the ratings when it aired, even sadder when you watch the interviews the leads gave when they were promoting the show, how hopeful they were that they would get ratings above 8%. Did the show have plot holes? Yes it did but from what i watched of the show, the plot holes were nothing close to what so many higher rated shows had. People blew it out of proportion. The show had a surprising amount of depth to it and was (as a viewer on imdb said) sweet and dark. There are very few shows that can managae to do what this show did and that was to touch me deeply. I really hope that park eun bin and choi daniel get picked by a talented team (like the ones that made signal) and are able to show the viewers what they missed out on when they skipped the ghost detective. A show that had absolutely no grand declarations of love but you just knew that this team would die for each other. Also im kinda happy that his latest show is from the makers of age of youth since thats a show park eun bin was in (crumbs people, crumbs).

Its pretty obvious that it bang je soo was the sniper, however the thing that makes me doubt do kang woo's death is that bang je soo never said anything about kouske to that woman in the end. Why didnt he? And when they showed do kang woo in the end standing alone, it didnt seem like he was in the afterlife. Because there were buildings and streetlamps. It's highly possible that do kang woo is alive. He may have made it out alive. Till the very last moment he was constantly messaging park joongki. What if park joongki helped him out? He may have left for america to get treated. Its also possible that the gunshot fixed him. There are many cases where people survived bullet to the head, even a case where a person had a mental illness and the gunshot cured him because it hit him in the area of his brain where the problem was. Point is, nothing is impossible. They left the ending to season 3 like that on purpose. They could have shown a funeral, could have shown do kang woo's dead body. They didnt. They left the end ambigous on purpose. If the writer so chooses, they can bring him back. Yes jang hyuk is the original lead from season 1 but viewers are honestly more attached to do kang woo because he was in 2 seasons and his chemistry with kang center was perfect. Im not saying necessarily as romantic partners. Its just their team work as a whole. A cured do kang woo along with kang center would have made this season a bigger hit. Another plus point if they had aired it on ocn. Also i read somewhere that lee jin wook was offered voice 4 but turned it down because he was busy with another project. If this is true it means that the makers did want him back. So i wouldn't write his character off simply because he 'seemingly' died. Ive watched way too many shows which ended with a character apparently having died only to return in the next season very much alive.

I hope they decide to cast choi daniel in this if this has a male lead! Would love to see them reunite after the ghost detective.

I know right? And i miss the ost too...the one that goes from a mellow song to a rock song with growls in s3 (i love rock and diablo did so well with the ost)

You mean jang hyuk? Nah his arc was resolved. Do kang woo is the one we had for more than one season, bang je soo is still out there and i think its only right that to conclude bang je soo's arc they bring back do kang woo. I dont think do kang woo is going to beat himself over killing a man as evil as his brother. Even if he does, they can always show him overcoming it. He's definitely not the only male lead in kdrama land to have killed an evil family member and gotten over it

I really want to see her in another mystery/thriller with choi daniel. They had beautiful chemistry in the ghost detective. I wish they could be cast in an ocn drama

I would suggest you read my review and hopefully that will help you decide. But be warned my review does have spoilers

So i decided to watch this show despite the countless reviews detailing the plot holes and saying that the latter half was bad. Adding to that, the ratings were bad too but somehow i kept coming back to this page. There was something about the plot that made me want to watch in spite of all the bad reviews and bad ratings. And im so glad i did! I did not regret it for one minute. This is coming from someone who loves shows like Voice, Beyond Evil, Law School, The uncanny Counter, My Mister, Hot stove league, The Guest, Train, Signal, Kingdom, Vagabond, Stranger, Liar Game, Bad Guys, Hello Monster (there are lots more but these are the titles i can recall for the moment). Point is, I'm a huge fan of thrillers with action/mystery. The presence or absence of romance does not matter to me. Now that I've got that out of the way, lets get into the drama itself:
Storyline: the plot starts strong. There are scary bits which are tastefully placed and are not meaningless jumpscares. The whole idea of a ghost who uses the darkest parts of the human mind and turns it against them was interesting to me. This was a ghost who was still mentally a 12 year old child. She wanted to be right as most 12 year olds do and she was angry. She took advantage of people and their darkest thoughts just to prove a point. Except there were two people who did not follow the straight line she had etched. And that is where her obsession with our main leads begins. All of this was skillfully done by the writer. Sunwoo hye's anger and hatred, the rules of the ghost world. And then the tiwst. Dealing with a ghost was bad enough but how do you deal with a reanimated body out for revenge with no means to kill them? I loved that little twist. However i give the plot 7.5/10 because while the plot was engaging, i feel like the writer took on more than they could handle which lead to some plot points not being concluded and leaving much for the viewer to deduce themselves. For example, why was that rich ceo going so far for the agency? I get that he was grateful to them for finding and returning his daughtet but even then you would expect him to be a little skeptical no? And seeing him smile in one or two scenes made me think that maybe he had nefarious purposes but at the end of the show he was just a money bank for the agency. Then there was park eun chong who in my opinion was an unnecessary addition to the show. He did not bring much to the plot and the show would not have changed much without him. Then there's the part about lee da il being back...dont get me wrong i was incredibly happy that the show brought him back, but what is he? Is he a ghost? An in betweener who can travel between this world and the land where ghosts stop before they move on to the next life? I could have really used atleast a hint. In my opinion lee da il is no longer a ghost, the biggest hint being when he changed his clothes without yeo wool having to offer them to him. Then the whole being able to control the evil spirit side. All of this made it seem like (to me atleast) that he was no longer a ghost.
I saw alot of reviews raising questions regarding plot holes, not just on this site but on other sites as well. Having read those reviews beforehand i was prepared to determine whether these were actual plot holes. My verdict? 80% of those plot holes are not actually plot holes. Why was sunwoo hye captured in the dash cam but not in the cctv? Simple, she wanted to be seen in the dash cam. She can choose to be visible to others. Another thing is that when yeo wool sees sunwoo hye for the first time, she is cradling her sister's head and in a close up of that scene you see that her hand also touches the hearing aid yi rang is wearing. That is in my opinion the reason why yeo wool was able to see sunwoo hye back then. Also we learn later in the drama that a ghost causing a startle response can result in them being visible to others. When yeo wool saw sunwoo hye she did not know she was a ghost. Yi rang had already been dealing with her for some time hence none of them were startled by her. While the restaurant manager was definitely startled. Another thing people complained about was the characters going of on their own and creating unnecessary problems just for the sake of 'conflict'. I disagree. Yeo wool goes on her own to kill sunwoo hye because she knows lee da ill will not let her. She believes she has the way to end sunwoo hye's killing spree and decides to act on it. Lee da ill acts on his own yes, but viewers forget that he kept detective park and kim gyeol in the loop so technically he never acted on his own. He was just selective about who he let in on the plan. Some viewers said that sunwoo hye being unkillable was ridiculous. No it wasnt. In the show's universe it made sense. Yeo wool was supposed to stab sunwoo hye that first time because she was willing to sacrifice herself. She knew that she might fail but still decided to go forward with it. But lee da il stabs her instead. Lee da il is a ghost and at that point he was unaware that his body lived. Hence he wasn't thinking about sacrifice. Him stabbing sunwoo hye broke the rules and so created an abomination. Viewers asked why did lee da il suddenly start disappearing and 1 a.m. that is already explained in the show so i wont get into it. A question i saw raised by a review in another site was that why didnt lee da il disappear with sunwoo hye the first time he held on to her the first time she disappeared at 1 a.m but was able to hold on to her in the last episode and take her to his body. The explanation is simple. Lee da il was a pure ghost the first time he touched sunwoo hye. She was evil while at that point he couldn't touch anything. It was painful for him to even touch her. Therr were too many variables as well. The first time it was sunwoo who was disappearing. In the last episode lee da il had been corrupted by the powers he had gained and so was able to touch her and keep hold of her. Also sunwoo was weak. Like gil chae won said, she was AB to ghost meaning a universal donor. When her abilities disappeared, so did her AB blood group meaning that sunwoo faced what we call in medical terms a tranfusion reaction due to mismatched blood. That weakened her beyond belief. Some people were incredulous about the whole poison the drinks to cause a mass murder. But in my opinion when you keep in mind that sunwoo is a 12 year old, it made perfect sense. Her ability to change clothes? She can simply control people and take their clothes. She doesnt even have to kill them for it. She can stay in different houses and the owners wouldn't even remember the next day. I hope i have answered most of the doubts viewers might be having.

i choose to believe that it was a happy ending. See the thing is, in the realm of fantasy anything is possible. In the realm of fantasy the rules are not so rigid. Being an avid reader, i have read so many books under the fantasy genre where ghosts become human, vampires become humans, people travel to the past, people have super powers. Even in kdramas like goblin and angel's last mission we saw impossible things happen. So why cant Lee Da Il become human again? I choose to believe that because his sacrifice was so noble, he was given a second chance and eventually he'll become human. He came back to the real world after he heard yeo wool's voice but he stayed away from her to give her a chance at a living normal life. But they found each other again. He was the most selfless hero i have seen in a long time and it is my belief that his selflessness was rewarded in the end. He'll become a human eventually and his ability to travel in between worlds will ensure that they won't have to make another sacrifice to get rid of ghosts. So in the end i will rate the drama a 9/10 despite its imperfections because i enjoyed it and it made me smile.

Here's to hoping that someone decides to cast these talented leads in another drama, preferably another mystery thriller. Loved them together.

They should have aired this on ocn. This show was never meant to be for tvn. They should also bring do kang woo back. They have an opportunity here to make an iconic crime fighting duo.

You're not the only one hoping they bring do kang woo back. I loved the dynamic he and kang center had. They could have kept him on and made the duo as iconic as many other crime fighting duos for example partick jane and Teresa lisbon from the mentalist. Im still hoping that they end this season with a hint that do kang is alive especially considering that majority of the viewers want him back. I dont think that by bringing back ONE character will turn this show into the next penthouse especially considering that there are lots of cases where people survived a bullet to the head (even at point blank range). So yeah lets make enough noise for the makers to bring him back and for the show to be back on its original channel. This is not a tvn show. Never was.
