I finished ASM yesterday. The cast did a great job, and I especially like Ci Sha, Ren Min and Winwin! They were excellent in their roles. A special mention to Ci Sha, who gave a compelling portrayal of Chen Yan Yun π. I also like the supporting characters such as Qing Pu, Chen Yi, the young emperor, Gu Lan (I like her development) etc.
The main leads' romance is one of the strong points for me. Their chemistry is π₯. Their interactions feel so natural and real, and their intimate and romantic/sweet moments are a joy to watch! I also appreciate that they showed the family/social dynamics and political intrigue in the drama. However, I feel that they rushed through the ending. Would have been good to have more episodes (not sure if they are still constrained by the 40 episode rule) or an epilogue to tie up other parts of the plot. Despite this, I still find ASM to be a very good, enjoyable and entertaining drama overall β€οΈ.
oh i get why people are mad lol they should've ended it with an epilogue or something
Agree with having an epilogue! I feel that they rushed through the ending. Would have been good to have more episodes, but maybe they are still constrained by the 40 episode rule? Or has this been lifted?
But despite the ending, I still find this to be a very good, enjoyable and entertaining drama.
I've started ep 34 (which I'm excited for based on the preview). CXQ is not listening and is in denial that GJZ had moved on from him, to the point of being obssessed. I may understand his initial reaction upon finding out that she's getting married to CYY, but him harrassing her repeatedly after she's married is very disrespectful (even dishonoring) to both CYY (his uncle!) and GJZ.
In ep 32, I love that part where CYY and GJZ ran through the streets of the capital in the early morning (during curfew hours!) and rode together on horseback π.
Ep 21: I've watched it days ago, but I just wanna say this: their first kiss is just perfect and comes out naturally, with the right amount of passion and intimacy!
Ep 25: Madame He does make a grand entrance in the Gu household, when she formally asks on behalf of CYY for GJZ's hand in marriage π. I can see she's one formidable character.
The scene where GJZ is standing outside while it's raining and CYY approaches her, and their conversation where she confesses her fears and resolve to be with him, and finally tells him she likes him, is beautifully done.
Ep 26-27: I'm appreciating Winwin's acting more as Ye Xian. He showed Ye Xian's strong emotions quite well here π.
And I like CYY and GJZ's relationship dynamics, how they help and confide in each other π.
She should be 15 years old in first ep. Since thats when you usually had your coming of age ceremony.
You're right. She is 15 years old in ep1, because the coming of age ceremony (εη¬η€Ό) at that time was done at 15 yo. I remember she also mentioned in one of the early episodes that it had been 15 years since she was brought to her maternal grandma as a baby.
I just started this last night and have watched 3 episodes. The story is off to an interesting start π. It's good also to see Ren Min and Ci Sha in another drama again, this time, with them as the main CP π.
