At first I couldn't understand why SYC had no love for SM, it even made me wonder if SM is really his son. Then as the story continues to unfold, the reasons became clearer, and they are what you mentioned above. He treated him more like an enemy (仇人) because of his relation to the Jiang family, and also because he wanted SH to take his place since he is his son with the woman he loves. It's just pathetic of him. SYC is now in my list of some of the worst parents in dramaland.
