Just finished this drama, and I find it entertaining and a relaxing watch, despite some plot twists and political intrigues. Generally good acting by the cast, but for me, Wang Li Kun's acting as Princess Rou Jia really stand out. The main leads aside, I like the characters of Guo Ju Li, Zhi Muo and Liu Chen.
Finished this drama a month ago. I like it, it's short but the pacing is just right, not too fast or dragging. Good acting by the main characters as well. It's not perfect, but I enjoyed it. I gave it a rating of 8.
Finished "Provoke" the other day, and now I'm watching this one, another short web drama. So far, the story's intriguing and the main couple have good chemistry (XHS and SQ). Good acting also, especially the 2 FLs.
I finished this drama a few weeks ago. It has a good mix of political intrigue, wuxia and romance. Things I like that kept me engaged throughout the show: • Political intrigue, strategizing, revelation of each mystery, and how the leads outsmarted their enemies. • Both ML and FL are smart and strategic, very skilled in martial arts, and have connections in both jiang hu (pugilistic world) and chao ting (government/political world). • Yang Yang’s portrayal of Hei Feng Xi/Feng Lan Xi – overall, a very good performance by YY. The drama gives a lot of focus to HFX/FLX’s character development, since many of the political intrigue and action happened in his domain. • Zhao Lu Si as Bai Feng Xi/Feng Xi Yun – ZLS also did well; however, I felt that YY had more room to show his acting ability. But thankfully, the drama eventually gave focus to her side of the story, and she really shined in the latter part of the drama. • There is mutual trust and respect between the ML and FL, and I also like how they supported each other and faced challenges as a couple. • Well-choreographed fight scenes, grand battle scenes, and great costume design. • OST that fit the drama, especially the opening theme, “Unparalleled”, sung Liu Yu Ning.
Other comments: • Chemistry between the leads – their romance is sweet and slow-burn, and I like their banter and humor, but it didn’t affect me in the same way (i.e., having that swoon-worthy feeling) as the other dramas where YY and ZLS were paired with other actors, e.g., LLTG, Love O2O, FOMH, etc. • The last few episodes felt a bit rushed, but they still manage to wrap things up. • The ending is more or less what I expected, so I wasn’t caught off-guard too much, except for a few unexpected things.
Overall, I really enjoyed this drama, so I highly recommend it, especially if you like political/court intrigue, wuxia and romance.
I finished watching GOSF today. This is an impressive and very well-made military drama. I was initially hesitant to watch it because I thought 45 episodes was a bit long for this genre. But I'm glad I dived into it. Now that I've reached the end, I'm actually hoping there would be more episodes to develop the relationships of the main characters, plus more stories about the next stage in their military careers (I heard that this was supposed to have 54 or 58 episodes). I'm very impressed with Yang Yang's acting here, and the rest of the cast also gave good performances. Kudos to the entire cast and crew for a job well done!
So I am looking for a good Chinese drama. I am pointing some key points which I would prefer. But even if they…
Hi! Some suggestions: 1) Who Rules the World - It has a good mix of wuxia, political intrigue and romance. 2) New Life Begins is also good, though it's more of a slice-of-life with political intrigue type of drama, set in a fictional period in history. 3) Love Like the Galaxy - Historical drama with political intrigue, mysteries to be solved, action, and romance (great chemistry between the leads). 4) Oh My General - Historical drama with romance, action, political/court intrigue and comedy, starring Sandra Ma as the female general Ye Zhao and Peter Sheng as the more feminine Duke of Nanping. 5) If you're open to older dramas, then one good series I would suggest is Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre 2000 (HK version), an adaptation of one of Jin Yong's novels (one of many). Since it was released more than 20 yrs ago, then the effects & CGI might not be that appealing if watched right now. Though I remember liking this drama when I watched it years ago.
I just finished episode 25, and it's one of the best episodes so far! I cried watching Bai Long's story (some other episodes have cry-worthy scenes too). Also, they chose the right actors to play the younger/teenage Yan Po Yue and Xiao Yun Jie; they look like Yang Yang and Meng Ah Sai (especially the one who played the younger YPY). Kudos to the entire team of this wonderful drama!
currently watching this drama. after getting hooked with cdramas because of hidden love ❤ I would like to understand.…
They were calling him "da shen" in Chinese, which literally means "big god" or "big lord". It's because he is good at almost everything - academics, sports, and business.
Took me 7 years to decide to watch it, definitely worth the time. Its a matured drama. Thought it would be childish…
Same here. I regret a bit that I put off watching Love O2O for so long, but it's better late than never. Like it a lot and have watched it twice (more than 2x for some eps).
To new Audiences: you need to know that this was the first gaming theme C-drama which was anticipated by many…
Agree with @kalarro :). Even if I watched it in 2023, it's still a very good drama and I like it a lot! I didn't feel that it's so drastically different from dramas in recent years. They had smart phones, were already using social media a lot, etc. One thing different that I noticed in this drama is how they still used cash/hard currency, because in recent dramas, they were using online wallets and rarely or no longer use cash to pay for stuff.
I was mostly pleased with this drama. It stuck very closely to the novel most of the time. I loved that they actually…
I also smiled a lot while watching this drama, and I like their in-game interactions (it's good that the same actors portrayed their in-game characters) :). Agree that the in-game sequences were well executed, and acting-wise, majority of the actors did really well. I also like that the ML and FL became a "couple" in the game first, then eventually in real life, and they have great chemistry too. I have watched this twice (more than 2x for some episodes). It was a fun, feel-good, and enjoyable drama for me :).
Kudos for a good review! I agree with your observation on YY and ZLS's chemistry - they have sweet/romantic and heart-touching moments, but not passionate enough, and at times they were more like very good friends rather than lovers.
