Why would that be not a good idea? Having just one enemy instead of two feels to be much better option, besides XB's impact on court is weaker than empress's... I think keeping empress alive in this situation is necessary to prevent escalation with Yan. If not for that, then not killing her on the spot seems to be quite dumb move.

I believe the problem is not that ppl don't get the concept. It's just that this so called makeover doesn't really suit the actress and actually makes her look older instead of younger. Maybe you've got different impression, but for me when she is with longer hair wearing a suit she could pass for 20+ or something, but with all those crazy hair pins and pink accessories she gives a vibe of crazy cat lady in her early 40s. And since it is supposed to be the other way around It feels a bit weird. But yeah, like you said, no one told that FL's efforts to look younger really work 😂
