I'm thoroughly enjoying this. I have high hopes, I swear if there's a sad ending I'll never watch historical c-dramas again! Haha! 🤣 Female power is always refreshing for a Chinese drama. I lectured in a Chinese uni for many years and was ALWAYS offended against the misogyny of powerful female figures in history. I recall one undergrad explaining to me her aunt (only 26!!) was labelled '剩女( pinying = shèngnǚ meaning 'leftover woman'). But an unmarried man of 30 is nicknamed a 'diamond bachelor'. So unfair, but makes sense when you consider the Confucian legacy (folk should read more Lao Tzu!!!) Long live powerful female representation in China. I'm perhaps too old now, but I'm tired of the demonisation of women in contemporary Chinese culture. Such a fabulous country, my heart is there and always will be...but I know how tough traditional roles (and representations) are for the young ones. It seems a lifetime ago when Den Xiaoping began opening up, such hopes. Not lost. Never lost. ♥
Ah dang, this is going to be another love triangle thing 🙄. Was looking forward to this, but think I’ll wait a bit until more episodes are out before trying to watch again. Can’t be bothered with a weekly love triangle thing. Was so looking forward to this… hmm. 😒
I surprisingly loved this and found it has rewatchable quality. No, you don't need to be a chartered accountant serving in London to understand this LOL, it's very accessible and fun!
Enjoyed s1 (first half), s2 opened with a needless love triangle arrangement (why did FL overreact so much about ML secret identity? I mean she had one herself lol) Nah, that s2 twist ruined this for me. I detest the totally overplayed (lazy script writing) love triangle. Shame, it'd been going really well until then.
