I get that the focus in BLs is on the love between the male characters, but some of these series make it quite clear that they see these women characters as fools to be mocked and made fun of at all times. How can these ladies NOT see that neither TK, Victor and especially Nankrai have absolutely no romantic/sexual interest in women?

This is exactly why showing scenes of consent in these series are vital and important. Chain was attempting to escape at that point and literally throughout his abduction, assault and rape by Jorn. The only reason he was able to get away, was due to Jorn taking him to the hospital.

I don’t know why TPTB felt like those two particular characters and their storyline had to be turned into a violent experience of harassment, kidnapping, and rape filmed under the totally false note of "intimate seduction" with lit candles, a sheer, draped gauzy lens, and music. Especially setting it between Chain's sister Rin, finally realizing that she feels more than just "best friend vibes" for Ploy, and trying to make Sun's sister's invasive interest in spying on him and Nu as something jovial and light.

Wow.

This series attempts to do a fond "back to its roots" retelling of the early years of Thai BL, but all I am seeing is just how horrible all these tropes truly are.

After last week's episode, with the less than 5 minute screentime of the sexual scene with Penny and June, you would have thought that this series had forgotten that the series leads are based on two gay/bisexual male characters with the reactions of utter distaste from certain viewers regarding their scene.

As I get older, I am constantly taken aback by how closed minded some viewers are regarding having GL characters in BLs and BL characters in GLs.

"Jun was definitely, DEFINITELY, all in. He wanted what he got and he loved it. I don't see how it looked like anything else."

Maybe it was too sexual for some viewers, but this series is focusing on how some relationships do start with physical, passionate, raw sexual desire between individuals. This is what we are seeing between these characters, especially Jun. It feels like to me, that they don't want to accept that Jun does like, enjoy, and seek out his sexual relationship with Sorn.

Yes, they have not expressed never-ending love and devotion to each other yet. It will happen, because this is a BL, but it will happen when TPTB have deemed it necessary.

Thank you. With each and every sexual encounter we have seen between Jun and Sorn, Jun has consent to those acts. He's enjoying what he's experiencing, and that's refreshing to see as a viewer.

How many times have we seen posts, in which some viewers wonder why a particular performer has been cast in a role/series in which they're supposed to portray a character, who's supposedly in love with another character of the same sex, and it's just not believable?

Jun's journey should be supported, because I know that I am tired of that trope of the Uke not being allowed to express and exercise his desire, that has to be displayed as to not turn off viewers, who aren't used to seeing it portrayed. Jun wasn't even bothered by the clearly visible hand marks all around his neck. He, as well as Sorn knows how easily Jun's skin can bruise. Not a care in the world to cover/hide those marks.

But, Jun's supposed to not act/behave as though he actually enjoys the sexual experience he's having with Sorn. He's supposed to behave as though he just wants to cuddle, and be taken care of by Sorn.

But, as BL viewers do we really need the "coding" to get a better understanding of the characters and the "roles" that they portray in this series?

It's pretty interesting how this series was able to get away with making this BL, along with showcasing the domestic abuse that women face daily at the hands of their husbands, and fathers.

Wen Ci's mom knew that the spirit inside of her daughter's body wasn't really her, and that Gu Shen been knew that his "brother" Gu Chen had been reincarnated in Wen Ci. That's why he realized how much knowledge she had about him. He was always around Gu Chen.

"It feels like it's doing something different and new than what has already become a standard Thai GL pattern. A butch lead, and possibly heading towards exploring polyamory? Yes please and thank you."

B-Friend does feel a bit new and different from the other Thai GLs that have been released since GAP The Series. Lan and Dawan are an established couple, who the employees at the resort are familiar with them. While Lalin and Lan have known of each other, since Lalin was in college, they never touched upon their feelings for one another. Lalin definitely has unrequited feelings for Lan, yet she's found herself attracted towards Dawan.

We also have multiple GL pairings, and characters that all don't seem to come out from the pages of a fashion magazine.

Because in a Thai BL, when the best friend of the main character (Jorn) is more outraged and focused on getting back at the other former best friend (Chain) than the guy who was betrayed (Sun), it's setting up the former friends to lovers trope, with just a bit of added naughty violence to spice things up. All that pent-up agression has to have an outlet/release for both characters.

You have to turn off your brain, and not use critical thinking when watching this series, because it's so dated with these tropes.

Chain, who has had, at the most one or two scenes with Nu, has confessed his feelings for him, with an impromptu guitar solo (wouldn't be a Thai BL without it) and three words on a sheet of paper (which is something that a middle school kid would do). While Sun slides in, and gives his own solo tune towards Nu. Unbeknownst to the entire crowd in the courtyard, we have the two bitter witches, aka girls who have no clue that boys who have shown absolutely no friendship/romantic/sexual interest in you, does NOT mean, that you should commit assault towards the person that the guy, who hasn't returned your affections actually likes. Again, those losers committed assault towards Nu, Sun got harmed, yet nobody got arrested.

I wasn't clutching my pearls over the child actors as Nu and Sun kissing.

Of course, Nu and Sun knew each other as kids. The kiss that they shared was an innocent, and not sexual discovery. Little Sun kissed Little Nu's wound on his arm, so when Little Nu saw the blood on Little Sun's lip, he thought that it was okay to do the same.

Maculay and Anna were both 11 years old, when they kissed in the well-known film "My Girl".

I knew that Chain and Jorn would eventually have hate sex in the next episodes (after a slight bit of assault and kidnapping). Jorn's way too mad about his former girl that chose to not speak with him, regarding an issue that broke up their relationship, and too offended by the other girl, who was supposedly Sun's former love interest, hooking up with Chain in a public men's room.

No on screen development for the WLW pairing, while the high school plot is still stranded on its own.

I don't exactly get what you're trying to state nor your point of view.

We haven't even seen a romantic kiss scene between any of these characters. Yet, you're already questioning the possibility of how explicit the sex scenes might be. Also, Naughty Baby and Cutie Pie had entirely different premises and storylines from The Next Prince.

I haven't seen anyone on this page advising parents to let their kids watch NC-17 content. It's up to the parents to try and supervisor/monitor what their kids view and/or read, not try to say that these BLs that are centered around a fairytale fantasy, should tone down the potential sexual aspects of these characters in this setting.

As a mddle-aged Western woman, born in the early 70s and became a pre-teen in the early 80s, I can recall reading, bodice-ripper novels, Jackie Collins, Judith Krantz, Danielle Steele, Flowers in the Attic, AND discovering my very first gay romance novel called The Lord Won't Mind by Gordon Merrick. I also remember watching very not safe for children films like "The Last American Virgin". All under the watchful eyes of my parents. Reading and watching those books/fims, didn't turn me out. It just made me aware of things and situations, that I wasn't aware of, familiar with, nor ready for, because of who I was at that time.

These things are out there and I am glad that some 12 to 13 year old, regardless of them knowing their sexuality or not, may be able to find a chance to watch these series and read these books. because maybe, just maybe, if they have a good, loving, open and trusting relationship with their parents, they may feel comfortable enough to ask those parents things about what they have read or seen.
