There is the theme regarding the restrictions placed upon these performers in CPs, by their management, the advertisers, and a segment of their fanbases.
Pan has a working CP with the other dude, yet some random stranger "fan", posted up a photo of him and P together in Japan, which caused absolute mayhem back in Bangkok.
Tontae and Plai talk about "imaginary pairings" to P, to get him to understand that this is just part of what Pan and the other dude have to deal with, in order to maintain their brand deals, fans, and careers. Yet, what I gather from all of this is that some of these fans imaginations are so very weak, that they cannot handle any sort of truth "shattering" their fantasies.
If this were a classic âprincess and her royal bodyguardâ drama, we all know the drill: she pines, he protects,…
"Let her stab a man and steal the crown."
Along with getting Princess Ava her own love interest!!
"Now onto Ramil and Paytaiâyes, the BDSM-coded duo who are making pearl-clutchers combust. But letâs be real: that power play isnât about kink, itâs about control."
The smirk on Paytai's face when Ramil dropped his glass on the floor, to get his "pet's attention" was well played by Paytai. I feel like he wants everyone to know that Ramil is HIS Prince. Ramil is constantly worried about Paytai. Either thinking that Paytai is gaining interest in the other Prince, seeing that Khanin is actively pursuing his bodyguard, and scared that his own father will take his "pet" away from him.
Paytai wants Ramil to make a stand for himself AND them as a couple.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment and for bringing attention to an important issue. I would like to respectfully…
"But we canât pretend itâs the same everywhere. The truth is, we see this kind of thing far more often and more blatantly in BLs."
We really do have to stop trying to minimize these types of storylines, because we don't want to harsh anyone's buzz or fantasies. I talk about needing to see consent presented in these BLs, because there seems to be this idea that having these characters acknowledge their attraction to one another in an open way, so that there is no confusion, misunderstanding, is seen as boring, dull, and "unrealistic". While somehow watching one character sexually assault another character, who is under duress is seen as "titillating" by others.
That all of this is "different", because it features two male characters.
Mark, Ohm, and the rest of the cast have a lovely onscreen chemistry, but I truly believe that for however many years, GMMTV was looking for the perfect leads for this series, they should have focused on how to adapt from book to BL. I'm glad that there is support from the fans AND the company in moving forward in establishing Mark and Ohm as a new CP for GMMTV.
I hope not.. He kidnapped, abused, starved and r*ped him.. Yeah this is not how you treat people you like...
Jorn has been obsessed with Chain from the first episode. Jorn has kept being mad at Chain as some sort of fixated hobby, while Sun and those two other enablers have looked on in amusement. Jorn's ex girlfriend left him, for whatever reason due to not wanting to be with him. Chain never "took" Jorn's girl. Hell, even regarding the situation with Sun's girlfriend, she was the one that literally made the first move on Chain in front of Sun.
Vegas didn't raped Pete as long as I remember, he just tortured him as a bodyguard and Pete tried to run many…
Sometimes we donât call it what it is because itâs framed in a way that looks sexy or romantic but that doesnât change the fact that itâs still rape. And while itâs okay for fiction to explore dark themes and complex dynamics, we need to be honest about what weâre seeing. Just because someone stops resisting or kisses back under pressure that doesnât mean they gave real consent."
I'm going to be honest, I am enjoying the connection between TK and Victor, much to my NanKrai 4Ever preference. The storyline is definitely solid regarding the growing feelings between TK and Victor, with NanKrai having to see his unrequited love enjoying his time with another man.
I'm so glad that Dan is at least aware of what's going on in their group of friends, and has gotten the other guys to try to cheer up NanKrai.
Giving up on this one. Every female character is a disaster. Comedy at its worst.
I get that the focus in BLs is on the love between the male characters, but some of these series make it quite clear that they see these women characters as fools to be mocked and made fun of at all times. How can these ladies NOT see that neither TK, Victor and especially Nankrai have absolutely no romantic/sexual interest in women?
Can we be fr, he did that to try to escape, not because he actually wanted to kiss him..
This is exactly why showing scenes of consent in these series are vital and important. Chain was attempting to escape at that point and literally throughout his abduction, assault and rape by Jorn. The only reason he was able to get away, was due to Jorn taking him to the hospital.
Iâve learned that Eye Contact Ep. 5 (fast track) includes a scene involving sexual assault, and Iâm honestly…
I donât know why TPTB felt like those two particular characters and their storyline had to be turned into a violent experience of harassment, kidnapping, and rape filmed under the totally false note of "intimate seduction" with lit candles, a sheer, draped gauzy lens, and music. Especially setting it between Chain's sister Rin, finally realizing that she feels more than just "best friend vibes" for Ploy, and trying to make Sun's sister's invasive interest in spying on him and Nu as something jovial and light.
Okay, so⌠this episode of Eye Contact broke my brain a little.First of allâNu. Sweetie. Pick a lane. One second,…
This series attempts to do a fond "back to its roots" retelling of the early years of Thai BL, but all I am seeing is just how horrible all these tropes truly are.
OMG...your updates for days 7 and 8 are brilliant.
"Writer 1: Letâs see, you got so bored with Chai â Champ and Thai, that is â that their storyline's now as bland as camomile broth. Penny breaks up with Porn in a scene so amicable that Gwyneth Paltrow would look at it and say, âthatâs bullshitâ. And then, all of a sudden, Penny is just ready to scissor Jun in the middle of the office⌠Thunder: Oh please, as if you BL writers were ever interested in the romantic life of lesbians. The Producer: I mean, that's fair.
The Producer: Meanwhile, please welcome our new addition to the team... Chad. Mr Thighs: Heâs straight, isnât he?⨠The Producer: Yes. Iâve brought him in to advise us on the GL scenes. Thunder: You do realise I was joking last week, right?⨠The Producer: So?"
After last week's episode, with the less than 5 minute screentime of the sexual scene with Penny and June, you would have thought that this series had forgotten that the series leads are based on two gay/bisexual male characters with the reactions of utter distaste from certain viewers regarding their scene.
As I get older, I am constantly taken aback by how closed minded some viewers are regarding having GL characters in BLs and BL characters in GLs.
Sorn told Jun: "I'll stuff it in your mouth like I did last night". So Jun knew exactly what he was in for when…
"Jun was definitely, DEFINITELY, all in. He wanted what he got and he loved it. I don't see how it looked like anything else."
Maybe it was too sexual for some viewers, but this series is focusing on how some relationships do start with physical, passionate, raw sexual desire between individuals. This is what we are seeing between these characters, especially Jun. It feels like to me, that they don't want to accept that Jun does like, enjoy, and seek out his sexual relationship with Sorn.
Yes, they have not expressed never-ending love and devotion to each other yet. It will happen, because this is a BL, but it will happen when TPTB have deemed it necessary.
Agree. It felt straight out of a corno. I was uncomfortable, especially when Jun kept hitting Sorn to show that…
"it's a bit self-defeating to want ukes to have more self-assurance and agency, and then, when they do have it, and are shown enjoying sex, people still want to believe that he didn't consent to it."
Thank you. With each and every sexual encounter we have seen between Jun and Sorn, Jun has consent to those acts. He's enjoying what he's experiencing, and that's refreshing to see as a viewer.
Funny how some people use the term "soft porn" as if it were a crime, and stranger still that sexuality and sexual…
"Yet, scatological humour is perfectly fine."
And expected in these series.
"They are professionals, and seem aware that it would do wrong by us, and gay people especially, to be half-arsed or worse, look uncomfortable, in their portrayal of intimate scenes."
How many times have we seen posts, in which some viewers wonder why a particular performer has been cast in a role/series in which they're supposed to portray a character, who's supposedly in love with another character of the same sex, and it's just not believable?
Your comment is a whole masterclass in fandom clarityâlike yes, Jun is baby gay chaos personified, still fumbling…
Jun's journey should be supported, because I know that I am tired of that trope of the Uke not being allowed to express and exercise his desire, that has to be displayed as to not turn off viewers, who aren't used to seeing it portrayed. Jun wasn't even bothered by the clearly visible hand marks all around his neck. He, as well as Sorn knows how easily Jun's skin can bruise. Not a care in the world to cover/hide those marks.
