For official channel, we need to wait till around May 18. But good thing is that May 18 is not that far away.…
Welcomed! It is worth the wait, because this is an amazing drama. Even though I was able to watch it raw and understand the main storyline, I do feel that I missed out many little things here and there, things that will help me appreciate this drama even more, when the Eng subs are out.
And so, I will be here, waiting with all of you.
Between now and May 18, we can just lurk around, to see if there other dramas worth watching. Once we can spot some, time will pass very quickly.
For official channel, we need to wait till around May 18. But good thing is that May 18 is not that far away.…
Same. Around May 18. That is what the person from Croton Media told me. Part of their argeement with Youku. So, they are very likely to show both Parts back to back, with Eng subs. right after May 18, when TBW finished its run in China, for all viewers.
A sentence like that, we can draw some simple conclusions. It is a decent sum of money, that Youku got for that…
Tencent moved really fast with WRTW. They want to beat TBW to it. It is not very difficult to figure out why they moved so quickly just to make sure they get ahead of TBW (in selling the rights to Netflix or Amazon Prime).
Jh wedding dress was auction for 21,181 yuan by youkou
A sentence like that, we can draw some simple conclusions. It is a decent sum of money, that Youku got for that dress. I am not sure if they made a lot of money. If it is made of high quality silk, they may not make much. The design is very intricate, so it must have been hand sewn, which will be more expensive than a mass product churned out in those factories at Shenzhen. But, I think it is still cheaper than QJJ's wedding dress in YAMG. That one is a brand name designer dress. Pretty sure it will cost far more than 21,181.
Who bought it? Very likely a hardcore Reba fan in China. A person who can afford that kind of money can buy a mannquin, put that dress on the mannquin and be always reminded of that wedding scene.
That it was auctioned of by Youku (and not Huace/Croton Media) confirmed our suspicion that Youku was indeed the biggest investor for this drama, hence they have the rights to its broadcast in China. Youku must have paid for the salaries of all the cast members, as well as all the customized costumes made for TBW. Selling off that dress, Youku was merely trying to recover all their costs. Those costumes, particularly those worn in Part 2, are not cheap.
Will they be able to sell the rest of the costumes to another production company? Likely not. This drama must have been watched by millions in China by now. People will certainly remember the wedding dress worn by Changyi, and know that it is second hand. And that wedding dress, it has fish design on it, and may not fit the storyline of another drama. Some of the other outfits are not so drama-specific, so maybe Youku can sell them on the cheap to another production company that cannot afford brand new costumes, but still want something that look decent.
For me, this is another piece of information to confirm our suspicion why we are not getting the Eng subs concurrently with its China broadcast. Youku, being the largest investors, want to have control over everything that is connected with this drama. And so it dictated terms and conditions to Huace/Croton Media, one of which is that the Eng subs will only be out when all Youku members have watched it in China (including its non-paying ordinary members). As the largest investor, they want to be the first party that smells success from their big investment, and not Huace/Croton Media.
With its smashing success in China, there can be no doubt Youku has made money. The only question is, how much? We do not know the exact quantum, but, judging from the number of companies who placed ads, number of new Youku apps downloaded (many of whom must have paid for VIP membership to watch TBW), it must be sizeable. Next year, when Youku announce its annual Profit and Loss statement, and TBW is specifically mentioned, we know that this drama has contributed significantly to its bottom line.
What a sad disappointment for those who do not like this drama or say that this is not a good drama. Must be a big slap in the face for them.
All of the lastest achievements by TBW, either the drama itself, or its two main leads, show that our fear regarding how the ending might impact the performance of this drama is largely unfounded. There has no negative impact whatsoever, apart from people being angry that the drama did not explain clearly how Ji Yunhe got her tail. Lots of people here, including myself, have already tried to explain that. Later, I will attach an online article which provides further explanation or confirmation of what we have always suspected.
While it is a misstep in the entire drama, it is hardly a game changing misstep; it did not lead to any of the usual performance indices dipping. Lighthouse, Aiman, Vlinkage, Maoyan, you name it. TBW is doing extremely well.
I do not know much about Lighthouse. Tried to find out what this company is all about; I googled but found nothing. As for Aiman, VLinkage and Maoyan, these are well known media companies in China that track drama performances and even the characters in those dramas, using big data. Their indices are often keenly watched by product owners, who use these indices to make advertising decisions. The fact that so many companies have placed advertisements during the airing of this drama is further evidence of the commercial success of TBW and its popularity in China.
One day after the final episodes have been aired for VIP members, Aiman index shows that TBW is still the number 1 webdrama in China. But, the index dipped significantly, showing that lots of people in China who did watch TBW, watched it with VIP membership, which, of course, means more money for Youku.
Apart from these indices, there is also the Youku Heat index that TBW has hit the record high of 10,000 in a record breaking number of times.
For people who say Dilraba cannot act, we can easily point out that Aiman's index showed Ji Yunhe to be the most popular drama character for the entire 1st quarter of 2022, across all drama types, in China. As a matter of fact, on 26 April, one day after its final broadcast for VIP members in China, Ji Yunhe continue to rule as number 1. If I am not wrong, 2nd and 3rd positions are held by Allen, showing what an impact both Dilraba and Allen have made in the drama world in China.
People who say she cannot act, either here or in the review above have zero credibility; it is their opinions against an index generated based on thousands and thousands of data point in China. They are of course, entitled to their opinion; but it does not matter much, because they are in such miniscue minority.
And so we celebrate the great success of this drama, and congratulate all the cast members, the director, scriptwriter, etc. All who are involved in giving us this amazing drama.
Maybe you can post your link, together with a short description, in the Recent Discussion section above?? This…
If so, you can do one of two things: 1. Post the link of your YouTube clip in the Recent Discussion section above 2. Post the link to the text in English in the Recent Discussin section above
Either of the above actions will be a great help. It will help to generate a new discussion thread, so that all who are interested in understanding this aspect of the drama can do so in that section openly, without spoiling it for those who have yet to watch the drama.
Secondly, it will much easier for us to refer to the thread you will be starting. Because, when your YouTube clip is only posted here, it will be burried by new comments very shortly, and finding your clip will be very troublesome. Up in that Recent Discussion section above, it is very easy for other people to find.
On two aspects, TBW was number 1. On the third aspect, which compares recently aired dramas, TBW was number 2. But, it is still a big achievement, if you look at the title of the third drama.
It's another 10 for TBW. 👏👏👏👏👏So altogether TBW has 9 10 hits?https://twitter.com/DB_YYsupport/status/1518851833124782081?s=20&t=nhyTEmA-1ZegQnSn9kYUvwhttps://twitter.com/DLRB88/status/1518892720378777600?s=20&t=nhyTEmA-1ZegQnSn9kYUvw
Previously, on the page of YAMG, I remember we were monitoring view count and cheering each milestone of 3B, 3.5B and 4B. Here in Youku, we are learning new ways of looking at performance indices.
Youku Heat Index, Aiman, Vlinkage, Maoyan. Never knew what on earth these were all about.
Now, we know. And when we move to the page of Legend of Anle, we will be wiser.
Simply unbelieveable. Lighthouse index shows it has market share 23.89% of the market share of online webdrama,…
Ok, the index I could not figure out earlier, the one that is 9553.49, that is done by Maoyan. Together with Aiman and Vlinkage, they provide data that are much valued by product owers, when they need to do advertising placements.
The fact that all three indices (by Maoyan, Aiman and Vlinkage) show that TBW did very well in China explains why so many different companies placed advertisements during the airing of TBW in China.
It only shows that we do not need to worry too much about the Douban score. They have much more credibility than Douban, as far as product owners are concerned.

Yes, 9 times they hit that magical number, when not a single drama since 2018 can manage even one (on Youku's streaming platform).

So far, only those who are able to understand Mandarin are watching this drama.
Even though I have already finished watching it, I am also waiting for the subs, that I could discuss with it with the rest from the pages of TLB.
I remember you, and remember exchanging some messages with you. But, they are too long ago, so I cannot remember what we talked about.
