A fan glued the most important part of the pre wedding night that was cut off. What went on in the head of the…
This was clearly filmed but not shown. We know who should bear the blame. They were well within the limit of 40 episodes max for Part 2. They aired only 20. Another episode would not have hurt anyone. And all those filmed scenes and not shown? At most would have taken only 1 episode.
Who is to blame for the lack of explanation for that final scene?
Who should we blame for the lack of explanation on how Ji Yunhe got her tail?? I do not think they filmed the scene showing how they got that tail or how she got out of the lava lake.
But Fairydustpuppy mentioned that they could have simply asked the voice actress for Dilraba to do a voice over and explained how that happened and how she got out of that lake and looked for Changyi.
Soangel also mentioned that they could have used some kind of caption to explain.
The above two can actually be combined, and they would not need to film anything extra, at all.
So, who's to blame? I will not blame the director. Once he finished his job, all the films are passed to the post production people. For the above two measures, the post production team should have done it.
While working on the post production, they should have noted that they did not film anything to explain how she got that tail nor how she got out. They should have been sharp enough to know that they needed to do something. But, they did not. The blame is squarely on their shoulders.
So, please do not blame the director for the 'rushed' ending. That piece of text that was passed around, post production people should have used it to explain things, even if the scenes were not filmed. A simple voice over, with caption, to explain things, before they cut to that scene showing the two of them by the cliff, that would have sufficed. Would have taken only about 1 minute to do it.
I share your view. If someone creates an angst index for us to rate a drama, TBW will rate very highly.
Am I going to watch Immortal Samsara?? Very very likely so. Will I become a keyboard warrior on that page?? Not likely. It is very time consuming to do be a keyboard warrior. Needs to do all kinds of research on performance indices.
Hence, even if I do watch another dramas, I usually just stick to commenting on the page that Dilraba acts in. I know most information about her and her dramas, so it becomes quite easy to be a keyboard warrior on MDL page of her dramas, and defend her or her dramas, against all kinds of attacks.
Thanks for the update; at this point I'm going to watch part one from that fan subbed page once they're done.…
That could be a good idea. I can watch it raw, but I am waiting for the subs, because I will really love to discuss with all the pals from the page of TLB, so many of whom are waiting for the subs.
This is disappointing… but not surprising since we haven’t heard any news about an airing date and they have…
Well, on their Facebook page, they did state to wait for annoucements. The guy from the other end mentioned that they cannot officially state that the sub will be out, soon after May 18. He only mentioned that info to me, after I continued to nudge him for more information. They may have their own reasons why they cannot make it official.
I agree with you that the novel version is more straightforward. But some people watch a drama for pain and angst.…
Yes, I think many people felt puzzled why that part was not properly explained, how she was transformed into a mermaid from a fox. When I first saw the BTS clip of that final scene, I was also puzzled myself.
But when I watched the entire final episode, the mystery was more of less solved, even if the director did not expressedly mentioned it. Right before JYH fell backward into that lake, Changyi already gave her that pearl.
We know that one of the premises of this drama is that that pearl is extremely powerful or magical. Now embedded in her for hundreds of years, and in that burning place, some kind of combination of that pearl and the heat must have transformed her and gave her that mermaid tail. And once she has that tail, which is very powerful, it should be easy task to get out of the lava lake.
So, I did not have any problem at all, digesting the final 5 minutes of the drama. And I like the hairstyle that they gave to Dilraba in those final 5 minutes. I do not know how to describe it, but it makes her look carefree, like she is ready to leave everything behind and visit the world with Changyi. Changyi also gave up his role as Lord of the North, and very likely also gave up being King of the East Sea, just to travel the world with JYH.
That ending where they have Yunhe go down that volcanic pit and Chang Yi sealed her inside with Shunde was really,…
I agree with you that the novel version is more straightforward. But some people watch a drama for pain and angst. The more pain, the better (for some people). So, the drama version has more pain, Ji Yunhe being sealed for hundreds of years.
But that pain also made their reunion more joyful. The last five minutes were very joyful minutes, them reuniting and reaffirming their love for each other and their desire to be forever together, never to separate again. Them plunging down the cliff and then re-emerging as two merfolks against the setting sun, that was both romantic, joyful and very creative artistically.
I think each version has its strengths, and we can appreciate both.

Ah, I forgot to thank you bring these good news to us! A million thanks!
TBW is a beautiful love story. I am new to Allen Ren - he is a good actor. Dilraba shines again once more without…
This is the first Allen drama that I watched from E1 right till the end. I agree with you. He did really well in TBW. As expected Dilraba delivered on her performance as JYH. Their chemistry was really good. Whenever they are together on the same screen, we can feel their amazing on-screen chemistry. Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, often very sad; whatever they wish to convey to us, they did it brilliantly.
Some of the stories of the side couples are also very touching. They have their own stories of love, sacrifice and happiness. Even Lin Hao Qing's sometimes selfless protection of JYH is very touching.
It is low, because some people are deliberately rating it low (for various reasons). If you have watched it and…
Believe me, a lot of people in China would have done that, to give feedback for that final scene.
I will be hanging around here for a while, because lots of my pals have yet to watch it. Waiting for them to watch and then go into round 2, discussing this drama.
Do have a good time on the page of WRTW, discussing with the people there.

L&R was definitely a breakthrough for both CY and Yuan Bing Yan. Made both of them very famous in China.
AOL was also another very popular drama. It was also directed by the same director who directed TBW.
While waiting for the Eng subs for TBW, I might just catch an episode or two about WRTW.
Youku, the exclusive broadcaster of this drama in China, must be extremely happy.
