Do you also feel that the story telling is good, and it flows nicely from one arc to another, good pacing so you do not find it boring as you move from one episode to another?? That everything that happened is explained clearly, you know who did what and why?

Them as friends, that I believe. Them more than just friends, hard to believe. Reba does not come across as someone who will end up marrying a guy 8 years her junior. Rest of you, you really think this might happen?

Of course, honestly? This is none of our business. We are just drama lovers. At least that is my attitude. What they do their private lives, I'd rather wait for some kind of public annoucements. And they would do that, if they are indeed dating. If they are just friends, that is hardly surprising, and not even newsworthy.

This is hardly surprising, even if this is the truth. But, are people implying anything more than the fact that they are merely closed friends?? Are those people implying that they are dating??

He might get some in China next year. His portrayal of Ashile Sun is most convincing. I mentioned this somewhere, after watching YAMG, he must have regretted having that no-kiss clause while filming TLB.

Birdlady is a bona fide Reba supporter, I can assure all of you. I see her on the MDL page of all recent Reba dramas and some up and coming ones. She just does not appreciate TLB as much as the rest of us. She has her reasons.

Which is a pity, because TLB is such a great drama.

I do not think My Heroic Husband was well written at all. Half way through the series, the FL disappeared from many of the scenes, and another lady took over. If I were the actress, I would not be happy with such a script. I think fans of Joy of Life must have given this drama lots of support, and there are lots given the fact that Joy of Life was such a big hit in China. It was a fun watch for me, but hardly the same calibre as TLB in so many aspects.

Yes, next year, I think they will be nominated for some big awards in China. There are quite a few types of awards by different organisers.

He did? I did not watch that drama. Birdlady below said it looked as if Bailu was kissing a dead fish. Did he look totally rigid in that scene??

I think winning those awards brought many old timers back to this page, reignited this place and set off some interesting debates.

True. I think it may have to do with 'face'. Certain actor/actress have certain facial expressions that make you associate them with being 'bad' in a drama or movie. I know a veteran Hong Kong actor who was like that. Very famous guy, and he would always play the villain. And he did not care about image, because playing the villain made him really famous.

And Reba is certainly at the point where image does not matter anymore. I guess, if she were offered two roles, one a villain and the other a badass heroine, she might still choose to be a badass heroine. Perhaps, it all comes down to the script itself. If a good script comes along, she might not mind playing a sociopath.

Oh, I forgot. At the Seoul International Drama Awards 2021, The Long Ballad was also nominated for Best TV drama, and Reba best actress. Although they both lost, it was a great honour just to be nominated.

The source material is called Chang Ge Xing. The main protagonist is Li Chang Ge. Her surname is Li, and her given name is Chang Ge. In English, Chang Ge means a long song. Hence in English, they just titled this drama The Long Ballad. This drama is about the adventures of Li Chang Ge, a fictional Tang Princess, set off by a real historical event called Xuanwu Gate Incident.

It is ok. I don't find it harsh. Visuals are always important, even in a modern drama. Particularly if the main emphasis is romance. But in a sci fi sort of drama, I think acting will be most important. As long as he can pull off all the right facial expressions, he does not have to be as good looking as Yang Yang. Come to think of it, he does share one name with Yang Yang.

If Reba is confirmed, and Xiao Yang is the male lead, he would be Reba's oldest co-star. He would be a full 10 years older than her. She may find it interesting to act with someone like that, a new experience. If she could learn to have good chemistry with someone of that age, it will just widen her choice of dramas.

Yes, apart from that 8.7 score, the number of comments here signals the uniqueness of TLB for international viewers. Something in this drama made us comment so much, made us stay here so long. Not even dramas that hit 9.0 charmed international commentators in MDL the way this drama did.

My Heroic Husband may have more views in China, but it will never be able to stir the same kind of passion that TLB did in all of us.

This is going to be a great drama. But, they still have some work in post production to do, to improve on some things. You might want to go watch something else at the moment. Do come back around Jan 2022. By then, we should have a clearer picture when this will air
