So how many more view does Crime Countdown need to get to beat YRMG??
It is a hit, in China and Internationally. No question about it. But it just did not 'rule' the air wave. It needed to share the limelight with all these other dramas. Besides CC, You are my hero, Rattan, and a few others also did very well.
But YAMG aleady exceeded expectations. Especially the expectations of people at Tencent. They invested a lot of money in it. And they were well rewarded.
A bit sad knowing this fact as for an international viewer like me, I don't know about the 'other' drama. But,…
Yes, for sure, YAMG is more popular among international viewers, than it is among viewers in China. If you go the MDL page of the other drama, the rating is only 8, while it is 8.8 here. The ranking of YAMG is also much higher than the other drama. But, that could be because the other drama is not sub into English yet.
I'm only 26 chapters in and I love Ren Anle and Han Ye already. Where did you see, though? was it authentic or…
I also do not think so. Gong Jun is immensely more popular than Liu Yuning. I do not think the writer will do anything to cause any confusion among viewers. If certain scenes are indeed given to SML, I am sure that the writer will write something else to compensate for that.
So how many more view does Crime Countdown need to get to beat YRMG??
Many people here, including me, wish for YAMG to be first. Unfortunately, that will not be the case. Not only that, we must not forget about The Oath of Love. That drama also has the potential to beat YAMG.
Which goes to prove one thing: Gu Man's story telling style cannot rule the air wave in China. Over the past 5 years, viewers in China have become more varied. They have more choices. Back when Love020 was made, that drama was the 'king' in China and overseas. But it was the pioneer in the gaming genre. It captured the imagination of viewers everywhere.
In 2021, the viewing landscape in China has changed drastically. Gaming is no longer novel. Even the introduction of the aerospace industry could not be viewed as unique. At least not sufficiently unique to prevent viewers from liking other types of modern Chinese dramas.
So how many more view does Crime Countdown need to get to beat YRMG??
Yes, if we look at views per episode, it does show that viewers in China preferred CC over YAMG. When Tencent ranks dramas by views per episode, CC will rank ahead of YAMG
If rank by total views, we do not know yet. Will need to wait till end of next week
So how many more view does Crime Countdown need to get to beat YRMG??
Right now, CC has 3.15B views. It has 28 episodes, so it is already at 112 M view per episode.
YAMG has 3.54B views, with 32 episodes, so 110M views per episode.
So, per episode, it has already beaten YAMG.
Now, it is just a question of how CC will perform over its last few episodes. It has more episodes left. If the last few are very very good, its total views may well supersede that of YAMG.
At the rate its views are growing, it may will well reach 4B views by end of next week.
Which goes to show that when the storyline is good, you do not need superstar or high traffic actors/actresses. Just popular actors/actresses who can act well will do.
It hardly means that YAMG is doing badly. Tencent will still be extremely happy with YAMG. In terms of return on investments, YAMG will likely beat CC.
I see!! In Cdrama, the theme song is normally called the opening OST (Original Soundtrack). A Cdrama usually has many OSTs. The opening OST is normally the most memorable OST, althought there have been cases where the ending OST turned more popular than the opening OST.
Right now YAMG, our well loved drama, has 3.54B views. It added 30M views in one day, without any new episodes. The increase, understandably, has slowed down.
It is still the number 1 modern drama in 2021 in a single platform (Tencent Video). But, another drama, Crime Crackdown, is catching up very very fast. At the rate that drama is picking up views, very likely, on a per episode basis, it will beat YAMG.
For those new to view counts, it is a reflection of a drama's popularity, which in turn is a reflection of the appeal of a drama for its primary audience: viewers in China.
Just 18 more...Good to see.rhe drama will start airing with more than 10k users here...And hope it will cross…
Do you by any chance know the strengths of the fan bases of Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan in China?? That is one, but not the only, indication whether your hope of getting 150M-200M views per episode will come true.
I am honestly curious to know the strengths of their fandoms in China. If you do not know, it is ok. Somone else here might know.
Thanks so much!! Much Clearer now. If you did not read the novel before watching this drama, then Episode 1 is pretty 'normal', for a Cdrama. They usually use E1 to introduce the main characters in a drama, which is basically what is done in this drama.
I do not come across any Cdrama where the biggest plot point is shown in E1. That truly would have spoiled the fun of people who wish to watch a drama without first reading the source material. And there are many drama viewers who are like that, wanting the drama to tell them the entire story.
Once again, I hope I am intepreting what you wrote correctly.
This is her real voice. But it is dubbed, during the post production process. They usually do not use the spoken voice during filming, as there are lots of unwanted noise (from traffic, for instance), which is very hard to control. So, after the filming, she would dub her own voice in a studio. The other cast members did the same.
If YMAG is not your type. I really doubt what kind of story that you would love and appreciate for. By the way,…
I also felt that too much air time was given to to Yu Tu's career, compared to more time for interactions between QJJ and Yu Tu. But, my position is less extreme. I can still get by, pretty much, by fast forwarding lots of the aerospace stuff. Especially all the technical stuff. I am ok with the last episode. I can also understand why the screenwriter used the aerospace industry as part of her plot.
I also fast forwarded some of the game scenes, those without them interacting. In the end, I felt that their amazing chemistry in many of the scenes more than compensate for whatever that I have forwarded, and I did not appreciate the drama any less than those who liked the drama from E1 to E32.
I interpreted the game and aerospace stuff both as plot devices, and not central to the main story. This is a romance drama, after all, and romance is what I saw and felt from all the interactions between QJJ and Yu Tu.
The link you posted is a movie. The one on this page is a drama. They are different, even if the source material is the same. Interpretations will be different. Cast are different. This one should be far superior.
Yu Tu (玉兔) was the name of the lunar rover that was on the month as part of the Chinese aerospace program…
Yes, the Chang'e 3 space programs must have brought immense pride to people in China. Especially with the lunar rover 玉兔 sending messages back to China for several years. So, Gu Mas was really smart in choosing that name (Yu Tu) for his male character. At once, it created an emotional bond with the Chinese people.
And, as jinyun noted below, one of the final messages posted was "I'm a rabbit that has seen the most stars!" In the drama QJJ just changed it from "I'm" to "You are".
Everything has been calculated to connect emotionally with the people in China, so more people will read her novel, and now, more people will watch YAMG.
But YAMG aleady exceeded expectations. Especially the expectations of people at Tencent. They invested a lot of money in it. And they were well rewarded.
What do you mean by 'pot your credits for YAMG' ?
