Tell me ... how many of you realised why Yu Tu nick himself as Jade Rabbit? And why QJJ made the famous sentence…
Yu Tu (玉兔) was the name of the lunar rover that was on the month as part of the Chinese aerospace program back in 2016. YAMG, the novel was published in 2017. Maybe Gu Man deliberately chose that name for his male character, when she wrote her novel?? I think the Chinese characters for Yu Tu's name in the novel should be different from 玉兔, but perhaps sounds similar, so he nick himself as Jade Rabbit.
Yu Tu must have looked at so many stars via his telescope, or perhaps QJJ was alluding to the lunar rover, when she made that statement.
That is rather strange. Only VIP members on Wetv can watch all 32 episodes at this moment.
I think you do not need an account. Just the app. I think once you have the app, you automatically become an ordinary member. Perhaps, in your country, the app is not working the way it should, and you got to watch all 32 episodes.
I wonder if it has a chance to get to 4B before TOOL airs. The Douban ratings are definitely improving, I see…
It seems that rewatch counts toward viewership. If a great majority of Reba and YY fans in China were to rewatch all or a great majority of the episodes, it will get to 4B before TOOL airs. However, this takes a lot of organisation.
For instance, is it legal for someone in each of their respective fan clubs to urge people to do rewatch? Not only that, they must not do the rewatch at the same time, or else the Tencent video app in China will crash, just as it crashed two Monday nights ago.
Hence, while possible, practically speaking, it is very difficult for YAMG to get to 4B views before TOOL airs. The last 2 episodes of YAMG will be shown on Monday night. From there to 8 Sept is only about a week. Without coordinated rewatch, it is not possible to get to 4B views. It may need another 2-3 months before viewership can hit 4B.
Right now, it should be YAMG, with 3.49B views, best modern drama on Tencent Video platform. Rattan has higher total views, but it is shown on 3 platforms. Likewise for You are my Hero, which has more views, but shown on 3 platforms.
There is another drama called Crime Cracker. It has 2.85B views right now, and it is still airing. Also single Tencent platform. It will not be able to catch up with YAMG, because it has fewer episodes. The best it can do is around 3.2B views.
Rate of increase is quite slow. Need 5 hours to get 10m views. So will need till tomorrow to get to 3.5b. It is already close to midnight in China. Many would have gone to bed
It is the great English poet William Cowper who once said "Variety is the spice of life". And we know why. It just adds colour to our lives. Whether it is food (for which we do not wish to eat the same dish everyday, no matter how good a dish is) or drama (for which we do not wish the same formula being used all the time). So, while some of you simply love the work of Gu Man, for the sake of variety, I do hope not too many novel writers or screenwriters will ape her. The Chinese market is huge. There is room and space for all kind of stuff. Aping her or copying her will just reflect on the lack of creativity on the part of Chinese novel writers.
Likewise, it is the same in this forum. If all of us have exactly the same views about everything in this drama, it makes for a lack of variety of views. Yes, we may have less conflict. But, we also learn less, compared to having a diversity of views, learning to see things from another person's perspectives, which may help to enrich ours.
As adults, we must learn to agree to disagree. That will help us see the real world out there better. Because the real world out there is really a rainbow, with multiple colours, and not monochrome.
I guess I have something to binge watch this weekend. I normally like watching chinese costume dramas but the…
There are two more episodes to be aired, for ordinary members of Wetv. If you're binge watching this drama, you might want to hold on till Monday night. Each episode is quite short, so holding till Monday night may not be a bad idea.
Yu Tu must have looked at so many stars via his telescope, or perhaps QJJ was alluding to the lunar rover, when she made that statement.
Those are my speculations
