I'm a huge fan of the manhua. I tried to watch this but I couldn't get past how the vibe is kinda different, and…
You are not wrong that the Li Changge in the manhua is tiny. But in a drama, it would not be possible to find a 14 year old girl to portray the Li Changge in the drama realistically. There are lots of heavy jumping around, sword fighting, etc. When the producer and director was looking for an actress to portray her, they had no other candidates other than Dilraba. She has a natural mole at about the same spot as Li Changge in the manhua. And once she is dressed as the Li Changge, you can hardly tell the difference, other than her size. At 28, of course, she will be much bigger sized than the Li Changge in the drama.
Other than size, which she cannot change, while filming this drama, Dilraba had two things by her side. One side is the script, and the other is the manhua, so that she will do her best to behave as closely to the the manhua as possible. All of her mannerisms displayed were highly appropriate (impulsive as first as a 14 year old, but slowly changing as she undergoes character change and development). She walks and talks as a male (when she was in disguise). And only behave more feminine, when the disguise was no longer needed.
The vibe in the drama and manhua are slightly different though. The manhua ended early and does not have much romance. But this is drama, people do want to see at least some romance. So, plot wise, they already changed many things.
For the character of Ashile Sun, the orginal actor that was cast has a rougher appearance, so could have been more appropriate. But he got into a scandal right before filming and had to replaced. The replacement actor has more refined features. But he acted very well. Particularly because they changed the storyline and made the Ashile Sun somewhat different from that in the manhua. The Ashile Sun in the drama is far more emotional than the one in the manhua
Having said that, we have had lots of people here who watched the drama after reading the manhua. Most of them do not mind the adaptations. They know that the screenwriters needed to do all the necessary changes, or else the drama will never be successful.
Neither does the manhua artisit herself. This drama was made in consultation with her. She was happy with way her original work was adapted.
Most who love it are due to the realistic and sweet couple interaction, if you think those don’t add much to…
This is getting more and more weird. This drama is not heavy. The plot is simple, with very little twist and turn. And it has sufficient humour. What makes you feel that this is a heavy drama?? I am totally curious.
I was thinking the same thing. If lots of those sweet moments are skipped, what else is that left to watch that…
I do understand you are sharing your experience. But I cannot understand how you can say this is still a pretty good drama, if you skip lots of those scenes. You will not get much out of this, and you have just wasted 2 days of your time watching this drama. And you said enjoy most of its parts, what parts are you referring to??? This drama isn't about gaming, nor about aerospace. So, I am just curious, which are the parts of this drama that you did enjoy??
This is definitely one of those feel-good dramas filled with fluff. There was no heavy dramas or big conflicts…
I was thinking the same thing. If lots of those sweet moments are skipped, what else is that left to watch that adds to the storyline? Those sweet moments are a core part of the storyline; if they do not add much to the storyline, one wonders, what does?
Why does Yang Yang keep accepting gaming dramas? This is already his 3rd one. Anyone know? Im just curious. Dont…
Don't know why. But it is indeed not wise to keep doing the same kind of stuff. And China could be clamping down on gaming, so gaming novels and gaming dramas could be hitting a deadend.
Not sure if anyone posted this yet but Reba did another live-stream, it's not subbed though. https://youtu.be/PeJB0G2kO7Q
Nice! She loves to eat, that is for sure. They seemed to asking her lots of questions. So nice of her to do this for all the fans. Looks recent, so she must have done this in between breaks from filming Legend of Anle.
Not from China but from what I saw in wb & other chinese media platforms, You are my glory has by far more hype…
I think that is why the people in the esports community China were so angry with FIYS. Just poor presentation of that game. Maybe they did not pay sufficient attention to details while researching to film that drama.
On the other hand, Gu Man and the entire team made sure that when they did all those aersopace stuff, everything will pass expert scrutiny. They technical consultants to help them with those scenes, otherwise those scenes will be panned by people in the aerospace industry.
When they do have that banquet, hopefully, they can post some photos in twitter or instagram and let us share…
Looking forward to see all their happy faces. Hoping for some of them to drop a personal note, thanking all viewers who have given so much love to this drama and to the production team.
I think there are just a couple things that Gu Man left out that I wish she hadn't. I don't know if it was a dynamic…
Mercedes Benz definitely one of the biggest sponsors. You see the angle of the shots used by the director, to sure that the brand is always clearly visible to the viewers
Making this drama was never cheap. Tencent invested millions to customise the graphics for the game. And then what must be a very high amount of money to paid to Yang Yang and Reba. They need actors of their calibre to nail all those important scenes that made this drama work. The production is very high quality. So, they needed lots of sponsors, or product placements, to help defray the costs of production.
So, they must have thought that changing that part of the story, to make them drive Mercedes all the time instead of a more economical brand, was something they can live with.
I did not read the novel, so I didn't think that driving a cheaper car was too central either.
While you wished that they kept that part of the novel - yet they changed it - I, on the other hand, wished that they changed certain part of the story, but they did not.
I think it has something to do with the raters.. Frankly speaking, Kdramas usually has more viewers and they rate…
Yes, there was an attack by anti-fans. A coordinated attack, because if it was just one or two persons, it could not have dropped it from 8.6 to 8.2 in an hour. By coordinated, I meant about 5 individuals, each with about 20 fake accounts, at about the same time, decide to rate this drama very very low. At the point of the attack, there were only 300 raters. So, if 5 persons each with 20 fake accounts, it represents about 100 raters. With only 300 raters, another 100 raters can easily bring it down.
It is not possible for them to do that any more. There are now 2561 raters. It will now take thousands of fake accounts to bring the rating down.
You are right that each drama has its own drama style. Kdrama has a style that is more appealing to international viewers. Their domestic market is not very big (compared to China). So, when they make a modern drama, they will usually have the international viewers in mind as well. So that they can ride on the Kwave, that has been around for years and years.
C modern dramas have a shorter history. And, because the Chinese domestic is so big, very often, they do not really care too much about international tastes. They cater to viewers in China. And viewers in China are quite diverse. Some like Go Ahead. I did not watch it. But the fact that it has a rating of 9 shows that it is a very good drama.
YAMG on the other is riding on the work of Gu Man. She had a very successful book sometime back, that was made into a very successful drama and movie (called Love020). So, this drama is based on another novel of hers, which is also called YAMG. She is basically riding on the success of her earlier work, that people who loved Love020 will follow her to YAMG. So, this drama has a market audience that is different from Go Ahead.
But it does not mean viewers cannot love both. However, this group of people may not be very big. We can tell just by the people who are on that page of MDL, and the people who are here. Very different group.
The chemistry in this drama is AMAZING!!!! There are so many kiss scenes and it feels as if they are an actual…
It is not just the quantity of he kisses, but the quality. The way they did it, it made you feel that they were two lovers in love, and not merely two actors putting on a show for us. They were just that good.
I have a question. Do they include the views of international we tv user's too, or it just for china we tv users?
WeTv is the international streaming arm of Tencent. So, I suspect, in China, WeTv is not available to viewers. But Tencent Video is available to viewers from China. So, when we talk about views in this forum, we are basically talking about views on Tencent video, which will exclude number of views on WeTv.
I'm at ep. 17 and forced myself to continue watching... don't know, it's not bad, but the plot without any dynamic...…
It has a simple plot with little twists and turns. But, once you cleared the hurdle from 17-20, from 21 onward right till the end, those are gems that not many dramas can match. Not even some of the best modern Kdramas.

His next modern drama ought to be something else.
