They are two very different kinds of drama. YAMG is definitely more romantic, while TLB focused more on character growth and development. YAMG has a simpler plot, while TLB has a more complicated plot. That one, we need to spend more intellectual and mental energy to understand, whilst YAMG can be watched without heavy mental immersion.

They both offered valuable but slightly different life lessons. In terms of entertainment value, the viewership count shows that YAMG is superior, with greater views per episode. But, I will not be surprised, some may still prefer TLB slightly to YAMG.

Yes, your middle para, you got it totally right. That was Gu Man's overall main plot. She just reversed the rich CEO guy and helpless damsel formula and now it becomes the rich and successful and beautiful actress with a 'poor' guy in financial distress. I also felt the same way about the lack of a deeper or more serious discussion into exploring their relationship. My main contention is with the lack of depth in exploring how QJJ dealt with the 2nd rejection from YT. I do not know about the novel version, but the drama version was way too brief, before attention was all focused on how YT dealt with it. Not sure if this resonates with you.

And that flag waving scene at the end, that was meant for domestic consumption, totally aimed at upping the viewership in China. I think it worked. The lauching of the rocket was very dramatic though, as one might expect, if we watch all those real scenes when the US lauched all their space shuttles. I do not recall if any of those space shuttles were launched at night, but a night launch is always very dramatic, with all the sparks and fire flying around, against the dark night sky.

I do not mean "normal" in any bad way. Normal can mean many things. I used normal to mean 'common' or 'usual'. given all we know about their relationship, from the converations that YT had with his ex, and from the conversation that his ex had with her close friend. Nothing in those conversations hint at a prior sexual relations. Not even close.

I do not know about the rest of the names mentioned above, but Renjialun is married. So, it is not possible between him and Bailu. Unless someone is suggesting that he would be willing to divorce his wife just to marry Bailu. If we are willing to entertain that possibility, maybe we should suggest he will also divorce his wife and marry Dilraba, because he just filmed a series with Reba.

I suppose people are saying it is very likely between Reba and Yang Yang, because of what they saw in the drama. And because the two of them are very similar in age. But, we will need to bear in mind. They are both very very good actors. For Reba at least, what we saw on screen, she has done it with several male leads. At least for the kiss scenes. The bedroom scene in YAMG was rather toned down.

If we expect her to get into a relationship each time Reba films a drama, it will mean she will be breaking up with all her ex, once she films a new drama. She has one coming up with Simon Gong. What is going to happen after that? Another dating rumour.

People can ship all they want, and start all kind of rumours, and there is nothing we can do to stop such activities. But, until and unless we get anything official from the horse's mouth, which in this case will be from their agencies, all such activities will be in vain.

If engaging in such shipping activity gives people pleasure, it is their right. Others will just prefer to spend our time watching another drama.

And if it is purely an ego thing, I doubt she will want to get into any sexual relationship with him, because that would have been a highly risky thing to do. It might mean her having a baby while she was in college, and breaking up would have been so complicated.

Please watch the drama carefully. When he was in the relationship with his ex, they were both only in college. So, they could well be around 19-20 years old. And Yu Tu then still did not know what he wants out of a relationship. I do not think he will want to move into a physical relationship so quickly.

But when he formed that friendship with QJJ, they were already in their late 20s, to early 30s. They both knew what want out of a relationship. They spent so much time together, so getting physical was a natural progression.

That is a question only Gu Man can answer. Maybe someone should send her an email and ask.

Thanks so much! I didn't think that he had sexual relationship with his ex. I don't think their relationship had reached that stage, before they broke up. They were still in the University. If birth control did not work, she might end up getting pregnant. I am sure that was a risk neither of them wanted to take. Anyhow, the impression one gets of Yu Tu is that he was nerd in school. Very focused on his studies, rather than having sex.

While he did have a girl friend, that was when they were in the University. They were both busy studying. Neither in the novel nor in the drama, was it portrayed that they spent time in each other's rooms. And listening to the conversations they had in the drama, yes, we can safely say they did not have sexual relationship. Any normal viewer would have come to that conclusion.

Nothing is said about him having another girl friend, after he broke up with his-ex. He is too decent to visit a brothel. With a girl like QJJ, any guy will not need a lot of experience to do what he did.

Did you mis-heard anything in E14? As far as we can tell, ML was a virgin, till he got along with the FL, and then discovered that apart from playing that video game, they both share another common interest.

Same here! I know that Yang Zi has already proven herself in modern dramas. For Xiao Zhan, this drama is his maiden male lead role in a modern drama. I would love to see his intepretation and portrayal of Dr Gu. I read the synopsis above, and watched the trailer. Looks like a good one, and we can expect both of them to deliver their roles well.

Watched 6 episodes last night and it does look like a nice series. The background music is intended to send a clear message: Expect sadness ahead. Cannot believe they will screen two historical dramas by Bai Lu concurrently (the other one is Song of Youth). I can see the similarities in her facial expressions, as both here and in that drama, she plays a gentle female character, without any fighting abilities.

I am cool with sad ending, as long as people do not die senseless deaths. Anyway, there is a happy sequel, so it should be ok.

I do not mean any disrespect to all the other cast members, they did play their roles and did well. But everyone knows, the entire drama rests upon the good acting by our two stars. It is their great chemistry that carried this show.
