It is ok. Don't worry. I am discussing this with you, because I do think you may not be aware just how young Li Changge was in Episode 1. During that period of history in ancient China, girls around 15 were usually married off in some kind of political marriage or marriage alliances called 'Heqin'.
The fact that Li Changge was not married off in E1 means she was just around 14 years old.
I do not think you can find a FL this smart at 14 years old. I tried, but I cannot.
I am rather new to this, I must say. You said you have seen way younger character who are wiser in other dramas. Which other dramas, may I know?? I sincerely would like to know. Young people who can do amazing things always amaze me
IKR! at first, I watched FIYS just for fun + for killing time while waiting for YAMG, but it turned out that it…
Oh good! I think lots of Dilraba fans are here and soon, more will be coming here. And then, there are lots of Yang Yang fans here. You must watch The Long Ballad. By the time you finish it, YAMG will be aired.
One minute into the video, the producer talked about the negative reaction to the use of animation, and she mentioned that she will strive to do better next time. So, I did walk away with this feeling that there were some regrets. Something they felt they could have done better.
Having said that, I must add that this did not affect my rating of TLB. It is solid 10. Cause, when I watch a drama or movie, I do not expect perfection. Not even those Hollywood studios with their huge budget can produce a perfect movie. If you look hard enough, you can still poke holes at Titanic, Avatar, Endgame, Jurassic Park, Star Wars, LOTR, or one of my all time favourites, The Sound of Music.
I rated TLB 10, because what I took away from this drama far outweighed some of the shortfalls. The story of a Tang Princess who fell in love with a war general from the Eastern Turk, and transformed and changed each other's characters and values, is as good a tale that Walt Disney might have dreamed of.
Very good ending. After watching, if there is anything about this drama that you do not understand, anything at all, please drop by and ask. Someone will respond to your queries.
IKR! at first, I watched FIYS just for fun + for killing time while waiting for YAMG, but it turned out that it…
Wow! That would be like three concurrent dramas for you?? I can only handle one at a time. And certainly not one gaming drama after another. My hats off to you! I am going to keep my mind free from any gaming drama before YAMG airs
IKR! at first, I watched FIYS just for fun + for killing time while waiting for YAMG, but it turned out that it…
One of the dangers of doing that is that Falling into your Smile is also a gaming related drama. If we are fans of Dilraba, we might want to avoid watching a gaming drama, so that when YAMG is aired, we don't have our minds over saturated with gaming dramas, watching one gaming drama after another.
The production budget was considerably big for The Long Ballad. The producer Yan Bei has been preparing for 5years…
This is the 21st century. The director would never have used real horses to film that scene.
They could use CGI for that scene. But it could have been expensive to do that or time consuming or both expensive and time consuming. So they chose comic.
We share your disappointment that many of the war scenes and some important scenes were replaced by those cartoons.…
Please have no fear. I don't think anyone felt that you were attacking the actors/actress.
When I first watched this drama, I had exactly the same feeling that you did, why did they use all those cartoons? So, over time, many of us, after watching the explanation by the producer of the drama, came to understand why they used animation instead of life action shots for many of the battle scenes.
If you are talking about just having 1 proper war scene, yes, there are a few. In E13, there is a war scene, when the Ashile Troops tried to take the city, there was real fighting among soldiers. E14, when Li Changge charged out of the city to take revenage for A'Dou), also real battle.
Once again, have no fear. None of us feel that you were attacking any of the actors/actresses. We merely tried to give you explanation why there were not many more battle scenes than there should be, and hope that what we can gain from the drama could make up for the lost of the battle scenes.
I am putting my answer in spoiler because I mentioned certain specific episodes. Don't want to spoil it for those yet to watch the drama.
I really love this type of drama, a nice plot with a strong handsome ML and a Smart Strong beautiful FL too, it…
We share your disappointment that many of the war scenes and some important scenes were replaced by those cartoons. There were some small scale war scenes, and a number of one-on-one fight scenes, but, yes, the larger scale war scenes were replaced by those cartoons or animation.
The official reason given by the producer of the drama was that they wanted to pay homage to the manhua, rather than to save costs. Some of us felt that it could also be a time factor. They could have used CGI to partially replace those cartoons, but that could delay the production process.
In the end, many of us just accepted it as something beyond our control. All the pluses from the drama overwhelmed some minuses here and there and we still enjoyed this drama tremendously. Especially the fine acting by the main female lead Dilraba and the main male lead Wu Lei. Dilraba brought Li Changge from the manhua to the TV in our living room, and Wu Lei's portrayal of Ashile Sun was simply great. And the chemistry between these two were out of this world. Plus the great music, the cinematography for some of the fight scenes, etc.. It was still an awesome drama for many of us
Not a specific date at the moment. Anytime between 3rd week of July to early August. Look out for the cast's appearance on Happy Camp. Once that is confirmed, we will know the likely date.
Nothing major happened in this episode. Li Changge left Yozhou and reached Shuozhou. She'er people trying to capture…
It definitely was written that way in this drama. Right from the 1st episode, how these two will always, somehow, somewhere, always bump into each other. I think the only episodes they would not be together would be when Changge left the grasslands and Sun went in search of her; and when she left for Mobei to find the grass.
Is it possible in real life, if two people are destined for each other, that they would always bump into each other? Very much so. We read in so many stories concerning actors and actresses, how working on one or two projects together over a period of time would lead them to 'find' each other as potential life partners and would eventually lead some of them to marriages, some of which will end in successful unions, and some not.
One very famous couple in Korea is on the verge of marriage and you may have heard of them. The couple that acted in the wildly successful Korea drama called Crash Landing on You.
So, yes, I fully agree with you. People who are destined to be together may indeed be brought together in the same way Changge and Ashile Sun were brought together. So, the script in TLB is not unreasonable or unrealistic at all.
Loved the story and the characters, rated it 9*. These are the reasons why I didn't rate it higher, mostly due…
1. I think it was the director's decision not to show any squirting blood. He is very experienced, so not likely that he does not know what happens when the carotid artery is slit. E15, you can still see blood dripping onto those flowers, when the Gongsun couple died.
2. If you are referring to Li Changge, she took a couple of hits, but none hit her vital organs. Twice, she was hit on her left shoulders, once on her right. Once a knife plunged into her right shoulder. First time she was shot with an arrow, I think it did take time to heal, but this is a drama, they cannot drag the healing process for too long. Second time she was hit by an arrow, she was protected by that Tang armour, which was supposed to be very effective against arrow shot. If you look at this sceene again, you can see that while the first arrow shot right through her left shoulder, the 2nd arrow did not.
She is the main protaganist of this drama, so they cannot show her die so early.
3. For a woman cross dressing as a man, Dilraba did an amazing job, in so far as her mannerisms were concerned. When dressed as man, she walked like a guy, sat like a guy, and generally behaved how a guy would. I was told, the director and his team constantly reminded her how a guy would walk, sit and talk during those ancient time, and even run. She excelled in those walking, sitting and talking scenes, but being a woman in her 20s, it was still rather difficult to run like a man. Previously, some viewers also complained about her boob size. That cannot be helped. Those are her real boobs and they are reasonably big. I believe the production team did what they could. If they strapped her too tight, she might not be able to speak.
4. Those kissing parrots? They were used to imply that Ashile Sun and Li Changge did actually kiss. While we do not have concrete proof, and we will never be able to, we feel that the main lead, Wu Lei, has a clause in his contract that would not allow him to do mouth-to-mouth kiss. That is the reason why you do not see any mouth-to-mouth kiss between him and Dilraba in this drama.
5. Your last point, you must be referring to E48? You might want to re-watch that scene again, because before that guy released his arrow, Mimi was already looking at him and suspected that he was aiming his arrow at Dilraba. She was standing just a few feet away from Dilraba, so she had the time to rush forward and push her away and took the arrow instead.
I rated it a 10, not because this was a perfect drama, but because it is just impossible to have a perfect drama. In a 49-episode, there will be mistakes made here and there. I rated some components down, but still gave it an overall 10, because relative to so many dramas that I have watched, everything was almost inch perfect, from the acting, storyline, the OSTs, the cinematography, the chemistry between Wu Lei and Dilraba, etc.
This is especially so if you read the manhua. Dilraba made the Li Changge from the manhua jumped into the TV in our living room or the computer screen on our PC. No actress could have portrayed it better. And Wu Lei did great, as Ashile Sun.
I enjoyed it but the ending was a bit lackluster. I’m the type to like my endings wrapped in a nice bow of marriage…
Having kids is bit beyond the scope of this drama, but in the Recent Discussion section above, please look for a link that I have created and gave reasons why I think they were clearly married.
I finished it tonight after bingeing (i.e. enthralled) through the last few episodes. There are several series…
Glad you finished it!! TLB very likely has the strongest female lead in Cdramaland. Whether you should read the manhua or not depends entirely on your intention. What do you hope to find in the manhua??
Some of us have already read the manhua. Maybe you can tell us what you wish to find out by reading the manhua, we can tell you whether you will be able to do so by reading it
This drama was based on a manhua.
Here, you can read this link: https://chang-ge-xing.fandom.com/wiki/Li_Changge

I do not think you can find a FL this smart at 14 years old. I tried, but I cannot.

On 1 April 2021, The Long Ballad was aired.
Broadcasting rights for The Long Ballad and You are my glory both owned by Tencent. They may (or may not) use this same formula.
We can look for upcoming episodes of Happy Camp. See if any annoucement that cast members from YAMG will be appearing.
I am not saying this is an air-tight formula to predict airing date for YAMG. Just the method that Tencent used most recently.
