I think Minister Du was extremely controlling at the beginning but after seeing the true side of Chang Ge and…
It is true that dads have a bad record in this drama. I think that would be generally true of dads of that era. They tend of be over controlling of their children and feel that expression of opinions that are different from theirs is a sign of children trying to challenge their authority.
And Hao Du's father in particular. At this point that you are watching, he was still hell bent on capturing Changge. Later, event will unfold that will completely change his attitude toward Changge. And with that change, he will also change his attitude toward Hao Du.
In a sense, we could also see character change in him.
For episode 48 rescue scenes and Mimi's death, they stuck CG in an outfit an 80 year old would wear. Even Shiba…
I think Gracie could be right. She wore this same outfit to sell mooncake, in order to look plain and blend in with the crowd at the marketplace and that soldiers from Khatun would not find her suspicious. If you look carefully, when she was spying right outside the gate of DingXiang, she wore a different outfit. That was a nicer outfit. But it will make her standout out like sore thumb in that marketplace and people will start to wonder why is such a rich girl selling mooncake in a place like this or soldiers might think that she is spy.
The rescue scene took place almost immediately right after the marketplace, so the production crew probably didn't think it was necessary to change her outfit at the rescue scene. Also, she has to do quite a fair bit of running at the rescue scene. This outfit is lose and practical. It looks very similar to the scene in E31, when she also had to do a fair bit of running.
The top half this costume is very plain. But the bottom half is quite nice looking. It is pleated. Very lose and very comfortable for running scenes.
CG is the main character. Throughout this series, I think she has the biggest wardrobe, and wore the greatest variety of costumes, many of which are just simply georgeous.
I feel it's difficult to remember, we're comparing apples to oranges here.Chang Ge is the epitome of privilege. At…
While it is true that CG was indeed privileged, we must not forget, so was Leyan. Leyan was pretty much privy to the same resources that CG had. They grew up together in the palace.
But something in CG's personality made Li Si Min and the others wanted to teach her all those stuff. She was more drawn to stuff boys were more drawn to, like horse riding, archery, military strategies, sword figting. Leyan? We don't really know much. She was not in the manhua. And the drama did not really reveal if she was more interested in music, play musical instruments or writing poems.
Being in a privileged position merely meant more resources were made available to CG, compared to someone from the countryside. But it was her personality, her life interets, and perhaps, even her intelligence, that made her drawn to and able to exploit those resources to their fullest.
Our CG, given her tomboy nature and fearless spirit, will never have allowed herself to be bullied by boys, even if she came from the countryside. Even if no one taught her martial art, she would have kicked them with her legs or just poke them with her fingers.
So, even if we are to compare apples with apples, and gave them the same background, CG will never be react the way these other FLs do in so many dramas. People like CG will never use background as an excuse for being weak.
things have slowed considerably but things seem to be picking up again yesterday/today for some reason
I will attribute it to a few reasons. We had some new members who joined us just a few days, and they are just as spellbound by TLB as those of us who have been here long ago. They helped generate quite a bit traffic over the past few days
2nd, some active members who went on hiatus to do other stuff, have come back to comment actively just the past few days. Scroll through the comments section and you will know who they are
3rd. The GeSun has won has won some big awards, and Dilraba some individual awards just a few days ago. That get people all worked up again
4. We are just really open. In terms of being tolerant toward people with different views. And we do not have vicious people here. I went to the comment section in another drama, and one in particular (will not want to name the drama), I see some really open confrontations. That really turn people off. And people start losing interest and stop commenting.
5. There are many 'unspoken' leaders in this forum. Everytime this forum seems like it is grinding to a halt, they appear to make sure that it keeps going. Either by giving new info or new clips, they generate more traffic again
Like you, I noted that it had slowed considerably. I thought it was going to take us till end of they year to hit 30k comments. But looking at the regained momentum, we may well hit 30k by end of June
If the telecast in Korea goes well and it should. And the telecast in Japan becomes a reality, that will again create renewed interests, and we may even hit 40K by end of the year
This thing is a like a runaway train. Just unstoppable. For every commentator that has lost interest, there is one or two replacements. When it does come to a halt, and it will, one day, those who have been here for a while will look back in wonder. What really happened in here? Why was it this crazy?
I would never consider watching a romcom right after TLB, dude! Don't! xD
Not just rom-com. For those who have watched and re-watch TLB many times, lots of other genres are going be nightmares and unwatchable.
Rom-com may provide the biggest contrast, but I am finding even serious dramas that say strong FL relatively tame compared to TLB. Many just does not sufficient plot depth, or a storyline as unique as TLB. They keep using tropes that are found in so many dramas, it gets boring after just 2-3 episodes.
All those re-watching of TLB is going to affect you. You will likely find many other dramas too shallow. Or you…
The TLB has this kind of effect on viewers. Particularly for those of us who re-watch it again and again. It is almost like drug, not that I have a drug taker (I am, if medicine is included). Just using it as an analogy. Like you take a really strong drug, Everything now seems weak and will have no impact on you.
So when you watch other dramas and start to compare screen chemistry, plot depth, cinematography, OSTs. etc. And then you realise, wow, they just pale in comparison with LTB.
My bet: one day you will cry for how great Du Ruhui is as a father. Let us know when this day comes ;)
Oh dear. I do not know about other dramas, but in TLB, that is the way our screenwriters wrote this drama. They wanted to show that people can and do change. Quite a few character started bad. So easy to dislike. Yet, by the end, they changed, and became so easy to like.
See if you can keep an open mind. If you can, you might just enjoy this drama more.
The screenwriters are just out to write an inspiring drama, to show us that people can and do change.
In some of the comments I read about Shuyu, Sheer and the ministers, and also in my opinion, we always appreciated…
I share the same tastes as you. Scheming or envious characters in a drama. But these characters are so common in Cdramas. While this might reflect reality, watching these characters simply do not do us any good. Which is why TLB is so great a drama. Practically all the key characters experienced change for the better toward the end. May not necessarily reflect reality. But we walk away happy, or even inspired to make some positive changes in ourselves.
Watching all those evil characters in a drama may well inspire some people to do bad things, to achieve their goals.
I am told that in the manhua, her character died rather early. Here in the drama, the screenwriters really gave…
I did not read the manhua, but a manhua reader shared this info with me. After that, I knew that the sreenwriters wanted to extend her character in the drama. They wanted a female character who is really close to Changge right till the very end. They cannot have a male character that close, or AS will get very jealous
Ok but Minister Du is an abusive father! I said what I said.
No need to be apologetic for your view. Here we are really open about people's opinion. His character in this drama was written as a controlling father. If you interpret that as being abusive, perfectly ok.
I feel it's difficult to remember, we're comparing apples to oranges here.Chang Ge is the epitome of privilege. At…
I am also watching it. But any further discussion on that drama, we should do it there. Or it will distract people who are coming to this forum to talk about TLB.
I am not sure about the reliable of sources found in twitter. Will need to hear that from a really official or trusted source in China. Maybe with Weibo or something? Did the person who posted in twitter mention the source of that info?
On one hand, I dislike Mimi Guli for putting Chang Ge into so much trouble, but on the other hand, I pity her…
It is totally understandable, the way you felt about Mimi. Mimi and Changge spend a lot of time together. And her character in the drama is indeed rather complex, so portrayal her well is no easy task
And Hao Du's father in particular. At this point that you are watching, he was still hell bent on capturing Changge. Later, event will unfold that will completely change his attitude toward Changge. And with that change, he will also change his attitude toward Hao Du.

Maybe we just wait? If there is any truth to that news, sooner or later, it will appear in some official sources
If it is indeed true, we can be sure, viewership in China will shoot up

Have you already finished watching the drama?
