It should. They may well be negotiating on telecast rights in Japan and pricing right now

Oh, she won a S Korea award for ELOD? I didn't know that. In that case, TLB is gonna be a success in Korea!

In looks and acting abiilities, she is no inferior to the best actresses in Korea. They love fair skin actresses in Korea. Dilraba is fair an actress you can find. They appreciate actresses who can act, not just look pretty in front of the camera. We have watched the TLB. She is every bit the Li Changge we found in the manhua. Brave, smart; vengeful at first, but learned to forgive and put country interest before her self interest.

Yes, they are both very unique individuals. Somehow destiny brought them together. And they get to enjoy each…
Possible, if there is Season 2. Let's wait and see

Just finished watching this drama. The scene where AS doesn’t say his 3rd wish to CG and says something like…
Yup. No words were spoken (typical Ashile Sun style). But his gaze at her tells you, exactly what the third wish will be. It is as you said, he wanted a baby with her.

It just seems like such an utterly pedestrian, and in the words of A'sun 'boring' ending, to have it end in a…
Indeed this is the kind of drama that requires its audience to participate and not have everything dished out to them.

It requires us to connect the dots, as it were. Conversations made in one episode consistently and seamlessly connected to the next and so on.

A careful viewer will see it know what the director wishes to convey. Surface viewers who needed everything to be spelled out will find it puzzling. "Why doesn't the director tell us they were together?" Or, like those Disney movies, why not have a narrator tell us, "And they lived happily ever after."

Indeed, it would be out of character with the manhua. The author wanted to tell us how unique Li Changge was. As well as Ashile Sun. The ending in episode 49 conveyed that beautifullly, for totally immersed viewers with deep understanding of these two key characters in the drama.

Those who prefer more conventional closure can always look at Leyan and Hao Do. They had a conventional wedding. They said their vows before his father, in a small ceremony. There could be a bigger one later. once all the nitty gritty are settled.

But Leyan was never even in the original manhua. They added her into the drama, using the typical two couple formula, to let the drama have a wider appeal, in case there are viewers out there who do not understand or appreciate the rather unconventional relationship between Li Changge and Ashile, Sun. Or that 49 episodes full of Li Changge and Ashile Sun might just be too much for us to stomach.

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
Not to mention, her Shifu calls him disciple-in-law.
Yup. All the indicators were there, that they were techincally married, even though no official ceremony. Changge said as much, on that tree trunk in Episode 49. All of friends, acquaintances, treat them as such, by time we reached the end.

They were definitely together in the grassland. Very clear from the final frame of the final episode. Very clear from the background scenary.

That eagle, or hawk or Falcon, that ML had, in the final scene, is clearly a trained bird and not a wild one. He had promised to give her freedom, and so she was free to roam and do whatever was meaningful to her. But that bird was the ML's mode of communication between the two. Whenever help is needed, they knew where to find each other.

For this unique couple, being together does not mean she has to tag along with him 24/7. That will make them far too 'ordinary'.

Throughout the entire drama, the FL was anything but ordinary. So was the ML. To force it and put them together in the final shot simply lessen the uniqueness of their relationship

They are different genre, so it is difficult to say which is better. But if you like Dilraba, you will like this.…
Yup! They threw that age thing at her. And then her looks. I am glad they did not say Reba is too tall, compard to Li Changge. Or else, the producer will need to saw off parts of Dilraba lower legs.

I don't fully understand. Those numbers on the page that has Dilraba, Wu Lei and Rosy. What do they really mean?
Wow! Amazing numbers! She made 17 posts, and got 21 million responses. That is like 120,000 responses, for very post she made! Mind blowing numbers!

They are different genre, so it is difficult to say which is better. But if you like Dilraba, you will like this.…
Yes, fully agree.

I read lots of those. Lots of comments even before they saw the drama. Most said Wu Lei will look like a little brother, next to Dilraba.

After the screening of TLB, those comments disappeared. And we know why.

Wu Lei acted well above his actual age; and Dilraba put in a masterful performance to make sure she 'appear' younger than him, per the manhua

In an interview, Dilraba said, it helped that Wu Lei is actually taller than her. Very true.

In casting decision, pretty sure the producer and director wanted an actor taller than her. Or else, they will need to film the entire series from a very challenging angle. The camera lens will always have to be positioned to make the ML appear taller than her.

In terms of casting decisions, I may not be sure about a great many things. But one thing I am completely sure. The most important decision is the lead actress. The key character is a girl. They MUST find the right female actress to portray Li Changge. She is the centre piece in the entire puzzle. If she is cast wrongly, the whole show will bomb, for sure.

And, from interviews, we knew the producer saw no one better than Dilraba. No one.

I do not know why, but she is simply just charmed by Dilraba's mole. She did not care about her age, even though Dilraba is many years older than Li Changge. The producer felt, a good actress can pull it off, never mind her actual age. But that mole, the producer wanted someone with a real mole, below the right eye. In roughly the same position that Li Changge has, in the manhua. Dilraba fits the bill to the tee. The director worked with her in ELOD. He has 100% confidence in her acting abilities.

So, around Dilraba, they build their cast. Piece by piece.

When the original ML could not make it, they chose Wu Lei. They must have put on that battle armour on him and the helmet and see how he looked. He passed with flying colours.

And then Leyan. If Lusi wanted that role, fine. If not, I think they can easily find a replacement. I am not saying her role is unimportant. But it is secondary, compared to Li Changge.

When you have selected your Queen and King correctly, everything else is a bonus, just icing on the cake

According to rumors, their last scene was supposed to be with pregnant Leyan. Hao Du's father passing was sad…
It seems this has been done before, directors/producer showing scenes which they could have shown, if they had more time. Not sure under what conditions a director would do it. Extreme fan pressure could be one. But, I think not from us. If anyone can exert pressure on them, would be the fans from China.

If viewership keeps going up. If TLB does really well overseas. And it wins lots and lots of awards next year, we may yet see those deleted scenes

Finito... first of all, why is the rating only 8.6??? This drama was good!!!!! So, I wasn't so enthusiastic about…
Lots of hater out there who are more than willing to give it 1 out of 10. Some came in here deliberately to rate it low, in support of their own favourite actors and actresses.

Don't lose any sleep over it

You loved this drama

That is more than enough to compensate for the time spent watching it

We cannot do anything about haters

Absolutely! A bunch of actors/actresses, months together in the midst of the pandemic. No outside distraction. Not just wu lei, but so many of the cast members, all comfortable with each other in front and behind the camera. It will be extremely extremely difficult for them not to have exceptional on screen chemistry

On screen chemistry is often fueled by off screen chemistry. Very very difficult to portray trust and love with someone, if you hate his personality and behaviour off screen

Wait. Wait. How do Haoyan have more romance scene? They only kiss once if you mean skinship. Gesun have 1 kiss…
Don't worry too much about it. Those who say Haoyan have more romance scene or are more romantic, they belong to one of the following:

1. They are anti-TLB. They just want to make provocative statements to start a war among those who prefer one couple more than the other. This will help to drag down TLB and cause less people to watch it

2. They have no idea what true romance is all about. Like what TLBJunkie said above, even for public display of affection, the first couple showed more than the second. And you yourself have commented, there is more trust between the 1st couple than you can ever see between the 2nd couple.

3. These were comments made by fans of the 2nd female lead, who want to claim that 2nd female lead is a better actress than Dilraba, hence the 2nd couple showed more romance.

Without evidence, we do not know for a fact which of the above categories of individuals made which comment. But whichever category they come from, we can safely ignore them. Because their comments are completely baseless.

So, please be reassured. The number of people who feel that the Gesun couple is more romantic far outnumber those who feel that the Haoyan couple is more romantic. No question about that

The only thing I can agree with is the weird bird scene, so weird hahahaha could've found many ways to hide a…
Dear Hime,

The character that Dilraba had to portray was a 15 year old who had no idea was romance was. She had not witnessed any romance between her parents. She was a product of an accident.

So, when Ashile Sun puts his arms around hers, she pondered to herself, how should I respond? When he held her hand for the very first time, she retracted hers, because that is exactly how a shy 15 year old, with no idea of romance would react. The BTS showed the great pains they took to make this scene realistic because when they filmed this, Dilraba was 28, not 15

If you find that the ML had to make more effort than the FL, in showing romance, the director and actress succeeded in what they set out to do. In the drama, he was supposed to be 5 years older. The first time he felt a woman's breast, other than her mother's, it was not suprising that he was driven more by his hormones than her by hers.

In terms of screen time, the 1st couple had far far more time together to show that they truly love and cherish and care for each other. The romance betweent the 2nd couple started only toward the end. I am just curious, what gestures from the 2nd couple made you feel that they stole the show in terms of romance?? I am asking out of honest curiosity, and not out to attack you.

You were not convinced by the explanation given for why the FL would seek revenge against her uncle? That is described in the synopsis, and somewhat etched in history. Cherry has a link above, that you can read for more details.

As for saying as far as you know, neither of the actors have a No-Kiss clause in their contracts, I am also very curious. How do you know?? You were privy to copies of their contract? Someone from their agencies told you? Who? Again, I am just curious. Not just me, let me assure you, a lot of people in this forum

The Untamed ended its run in 2019.

Two years on, the comments section is still alive and kicking. And there are still newcomers joining that forum, asking, should I watch this series? It did not take long for someone to respond.

Fast forward to 2023, two years after TLB ended its run. And someone wanders into this forum, whether by chance or design, and ask the same question, Should I watch this series?

It will be interesting. Which of us will still be here, and who will be the first to respond to that question?
