Boyfriend material:') Is he just a living ideal men that come out from idol drama?
Who knows what may or may not happen. Sometimes, actors can be inspired by the very character they portrayed in a drama or movie. Maybe he will be inspired by Ashile Sun and be the ideal man to whoever will be the Li Chang Ge in his life. I think his manners are genuine. He is a very good actor, so supporting his family would be no problem. But if he is looking for a Li Chang Ge, she will probably tell him, "thanks so much, I didn't marry you for your money. I can also support myself".
All five leads will be all right. The second couple is with the guy in dark clothes on the poster, they are also…
This drama is titled after Li Chang Ge, the main protaganist. Her partner is Ashile Sun. They are the lead couple. 2nd couple is Leyan and Hao Du. Li Chang Ge and Leyan are cousins. Li Chang Ge is a Tang Princess, so is Leyan. Ashile Sun is a prince, belonging to the Eastern Turkic Khaganate, that lives on the border with the Tang Dynasty. The fifth person is Shuyu, the son of a high ranking Tang ministers. Shuyu and Li Chang Ge grew together as kids, so do Li Chang Ge and Leyan.
The Turks and the Tang Dynasty were in war
Li Chang Ge became Ashile Sun's slave, when one of the Tang cities she was helping to defend lost to the Turks. Subsequently, she became his military adviser, and then the love of his life.
This drama traces her journey, as she goes through many experiences in life that will shape her intelligence, personality, and values. People around her, like the 2nd couple, will grow along with her.
By the time you hit the final episode, all five main characters would have changed and developed, so much so, they will be unrecognizable from their earlier version
Everything is great about this drama. You will enjoy it, and perhaps, be changed by it
The character integrity maintained is really admirable. Both as individual characters themselves, and also their…
Indeed the drama showed her interacting with so many people in her journey. Adou, Gongsun Heng, Leyan, Li Simin, Mimi, Hao Du, Shuyu, just to name a few. But I fully agree that the most significant will be Ashina Sun.
They are probably the most healthy couple in CDramaland. She is no damsel in distress, but fully capable of saving Sun, whenever he is in trouble. If there is war, she is fully capable of coming up with good battle strategies to help Sun. They are equal partner.
But, I suspect they prefer peace to war, anytime, seeing the collateral damage that war can cause to innocent civilians.
If the story were to continue, I see them having a good life in the grassland, a happy couple with many children.
If the world has many Li Chang Ge and Ashina Sun around, we will have more peace than war. We will put our minds together to solve world problems like poverty and hunger; climate change and covid 19
Well just watched 43 and heading into 44; I have absolutely no idea how CG could trust a random kid that claimed…
I was thinking about this too. But when I looked at the tailend of episode 43, this kid was no random kid. Somehow, he got hold two pieces of token that linked him to the crown prince. That 'fishy' thingy, and the jade pendant, that purportedly belonged to the crown prince.
I think this scheme was hatched by the Kathun. The Kathun knew CG well. Well enough to know that these tokens will help the little kid to establish credibiity that the crown prince wanted to talk to CG. And she was, once again, decevied
That mobei uniform looks great on sun. Back to point, I think she didn't trust him but her curiosity pushed her…
I agree. Except poisoning her might take another episode. They wanted to wrap things up quickly. Perhaps a few seconds of animation, showing her suffering intense pain in the fire scene would have satisfied our desire to see justice done
He had to kill the kid because that kid started yelling that Mobei princess was there to kill the crown prince.…
I tend to agree that Asun had little choice but to kill that kid. I re-watched this scene before making this comment. You will notice that Asun was rather kind. He killed all the other adult abductors. It was only when the little kid tried to run away, he shot him in the leg. The fact that he tried to run away, shows that he was in cahot with the rest and trying to harm CG. Just not to long ago, he had already knelt in front to her mother, to protect her. Now comes this little kid, seemingly determinted to test his resolve to protect her.
When the little kid held up that fish token, the English subtitled reads, "You cannot kill me, I am the Crown Price's servant". A few seconds later, when he screamed and threatened to expose CG, Asun shot him in the back, without blinking an eye
His message was clear: No one messes with the one I love. Not even a kid.
And I fully agree with PeachBlossonGoddess, of all the kids in this drama, we are not going to cry for this one. After all, he was also the one who was involved in the scheme to have the crown prince killed in that fire.
He was just a tool, used by the evil Princess. For a kid, he was as evil as his mistress.
The child actor portrayed his role well. You could see evil, even in his eyes. And the the smirk on his face, when he spoke to CG. He was a child replica his evil mistress
I love love your full and complete comments!! Couldn't agree more!!! hard earned things valued more.
I think in terms of the relationship dynamics between CG and Asun, the scriptwriters have been pretty consistent. Asun will do everything in his power to save CG, if she is ever in danger. In episode 43, he already vowed before her mother's Memorial tablet, that CG is more important than his own life. The very next episode, he backed up what he said, killing that kid, to protect CG. In the final episode, he dashed into a burning building to save her. Lots of examples throughout the drama, to show consistent relationship dynamics between our two leads.
This is just my opinion, but I think from the moment he knew that she was a girl, whey he tried to pull out that arrow, he fell for her. And as the drama progresses, that affection grew that a steady pace where we viewers can appreciate. I never felt that he tried to rush things. The forehead kiss came at a right time, when their relationship already reached a rather matured stage
There are many relationships in this drama. But since the story is about Li Chang Ge, I think the writers took extra care, to make sure the dynamics between the our two leads is consistent and believeable. When Chang Ge was not ready, because of the distress she was suffering in the beginning phase of their relationship, the writers deliberately made her respond to Asun's romantic gestures in a subdued manner. When she was ready, they held hands, they hugged. Everything flowed rather naturally, in a very healthy relationship of mutual love and respect
Enough explanation has been given in the drama, to lend support to the argument that she has sufficient 'head'…
Well said indeed!! It would have been 15 episodes of wasted screen time, putting us to sleep, with Chang Ge attending basic military course, followed by section commander and platoon and then company, etc..Haha, like many of you, I will fast forward that too!
That mobei uniform looks great on sun. Back to point, I think she didn't trust him but her curiosity pushed her…
I fully agree with you. She portrayed it really well. Especially the last few episodes. She went for broke. Everything and everyone was fair game for her and could be sacrificed, as long as she could achieve her objectives. Even the tone of her voice changed, as she became more and more evil. In the end, we probably felt that justice was served, for her to be burned in that building.
Being killed by a sword in a single stroke would have too kind for her. Every ounce of her flesh should suffer the same pain that she inflicted on countless individuals. Her bones incinerated to ashes. The director spared us those gory images, but we probably know what it is like to die in a burning building. It is no fun, to say the least
Ok so I wanna start this drama especially since I heard it has a good ending however the only thing that's holding…
Enough explanation has been given in the drama, to lend support to the argument that she has sufficient 'head' knowledge to be a genius military strategist. What she lacked was practical knowledge how to implement those theories. This, she will learn through experience. This drama is about some of those experiences, mistakes she will make. It was not an overnight explosion of military ingenuity. She did not drink any secret potion.
I do agree that some suspension of disbelief is needed. But, it is a fair suspension of disbelief. After all, this is a work of fiction. Some characters in this drama are 'real' people in history. But Li Chang Ge herself probably never existed in history.
So, you should not avoid this drama just because of this one point.
We watch lots of Hollywood movies, despite knowing that they are works of fiction and completely unbelievable. Who would believe that being bitten by a spider can turn one into a superhero like Spiderman? Yet, millions flock to the theatre to watch it and loved it.
Relatively speaking, Li Chang Ge's military knowledge is far more believeable than many of the stuff churned out by Hollywood.
Suspend your disbelief for a few moments and enjoy this drama. It has far more things that are believable than Hollywood movies that have made billions of dollars
That mobei uniform looks great on sun. Back to point, I think she didn't trust him but her curiosity pushed her…
The darker she is, the more successful the scriptwriters of this drama would be. I think they want her to be really dark and evil. What would be Star Wars, without Darth Vader?? Viewers are sucked into the eternal battle between good and evil. The darker the villain, the brighter the good guys. In the final episode, we see the great contrast between Chang Ge and Khatun, how they responded to adversities in life. One turned to the dark side, while the other learned to forgive, found closure and healing from all the sadness, and reasons to live.
I’d go with Chang Ge in the manhua in terms of military/tactical warfare. In the manhua, A’sun is more physical…
Yes, there are many other instances from the drama which shows Chang Ge to be a good strategist, a person with good intelligence. If I am not wrong, the plan to rescue Asun in the final two episodes was all hatched by her. She even had to change her original plan, due to changes on the ground. That, to me, shows great intelligence
I’d go with Chang Ge in the manhua in terms of military/tactical warfare. In the manhua, A’sun is more physical…
I think they need to make Asun smarter in the drama for good reasons. Not many good male actors will want that role, if he is made to look all brawn with no brain. I don't think it will good for his career.
I don't think viewers will like it also, especially all the female viewers in China. Lots of female fans of Wu Lei. You can imagine what they will do to the drama, if he is made to look stupid, or, need to be saved by Chang Ge all the time.
They wanted some romance in the drama, so, they really need to make Asun smarter in the drama. If I am Li Chang Ge, I will not want a partner whom I need to rescue all the time. Can be really tiring.
So, I think the drama has a greater balance, or perhaps tilt the balance slightly toward Asun. China is a male dominated society, after all. They still want their guys to save their gals. So, you have the final scene when Asun dashed into a buring building to save Chang Ge
Thank you for writing this. I was actually thinking about writing a post about her my self but you basically said…
Sorry for this late response. Indeed it is difficult for us to feel any sympathy for the villain. She did so many bad things to so many people. And she showed no remores, whatsoever. Even in the final episode, when offered an olive branch by Li Chang Ge, she refused, and wanted to take Chang Ge along to her grave. The fiery death was such a fitting end for such an evil villain. She suffered in pain in the final moments of her life, perhaps more pain than all the pain she caused to people around her
Good show. But I find the rest of the people boring, only the two main characters are interesting.
The main character of the show is Li Chang Ge. If the two main characters are not interesting, the show is finished. Having said that, the rest of the people are equally important. Their lives are intertwined with the two main characters and help give meaning to the entire drama. Without them, the actions and decisions of the two main characters will make no sense.
Take Li Si Min, for instance, the uncle of Li Chang Ge. It was his action in the 1st episode that sets in motion this story or ballad. And, there are so many other characters, directly or indirectly linked to the two main characters, that add richness and textual to this show, layer upon layer.
Just imagine a table. If the two main characters are the table top, the rest are the legs. Others could be chairs. It takes an entire set for us to have a good dinner, even tho while we are eating, we are likely only to see the table top
I think the story ended where it should. The best dramas always end with us wishing for more and that is where…
Like many of you, I am happy how the story ended. But, I also feel that if the legal issues are settled, the author of the manhua, seeing how well this drama has been received in China and internationally, may well be inspired to let her imagination run wild
Wow ... GeSun fans in China are super strong and supportive. Amazing! Way to go GeSun CP! https://www.instagram.com/p/COrIezNA-OT/?igshid=1vffz5gp4iek4Suuport…
"The brightest moon of Cha ng'an meet the strongest wine of grassland."
Not just poetic, it also has very strong cross cultural undertones. She's from the Tang Dynasty and he's a Turk. Because of them, these two 'nations' need not go to war again. Their effort brought peace to the entire region, sparing the lives and hardship of their ordinary citizens and all the soldiers
