I don't agree.. I think you are giving her too much credit . How do you know that they might be actively avoiding controversial questions and only take fluffy and sexy questions in order to promote the series (since you are in her head, I'll get in her head too).
And way to try and imply that anyone who finds her work morally questionable to lack analysis and intelligence.

I've seen the author being dragged on twitter on pretty much everything in the series and her books but there was no mention of this, I wondered if I missed something and this was addressed. Please see the response of the commenter above, I would like to know your thoughts on what s/he has written.

Thank you for the response, I'll take your word that what you've beautifully explained was Mame's intention. Usually when you put out controversial art whether it is literature or actual art, it comes with at least some commentary. I've watched interview panels with Mame and the cast, I've seen interviews with the director.... there were no discussion of any issues that were raised by some of the series audience.... the focus is always on the NC scenes....Neither ever commented on twitter when there was a backlash on the non-consensual scenes, the writer had plenty of chances to discuss all the problematic elements in her books but she never took the opportunity..this led me to believe she is only using rape and non-consensual elements just as plot devices. In fact I've wondered if she'd be brave enough to write the same exact story but with heterosexual characters and it's women being rapped and assaulted, don't tell me that the story wouldn't hit differently, would you view it through the lens of artistic licensing? I'm sure if the author had written such story about women, she would provide ample context and would leave no room for ambiguity, nothing would be implied on what her intentions were.
Anyways, I have enjoyed your response and I agree about what you've said about our expectations, biasis, etc.. influencing our opinions

I understand the point that Type would have that equivalency,..that is not what I was trying to get at....I was concerned about the message to the audience, there are ppl that don't understand that pedophilia is a disorder where an adult has attraction to prepubescent children it has nothing to do with their gender. What the show did was just reinforce the idea, there could have been a moment to educate the public, where they would have someone make the distinction...maybe Tharn to Type or maybe in the ep when Type was talking to Khom, he would say something like " I realize now that the man that assaulted me was a pedophile, his sexual orientation is not what made him rape me, it was his sickness.....(something to that effect).. The show took on heavy subjects, they should be responsible not to cause further damage to lgbtq+ community by not educating the audience and by validating the harmful misconceptions.
Now for the Llong issue....What you said is all great, but how does the audience know the writer's intention...there is a lot of "you connect the dots yourself". they could have dedicated scenes where what you've explained can be acted out....during the fight scene, type or tharn could have warned Llong to stay away from them and tar or they'll turn him to the police... they could have had a heart to heart between tharn/type and tar so we would know that it was tar's decision not to take this further. tharn opted not to even speak to tar after all that transpired (what a coward...lol). The scene with thorn and llong was completely unnecessary and ruined the ep for me...i would have rated it a 10 otherwise.
I understand the world is not ideal and terrible things happen, a lot of the time bad people don't get punished...but this is a series written about a community that faces prejudice and discrimination in the overall society..they should have made sure that they do things properly, we shouldn't play mental gymnastics to justify what they put out there.

I've been reading on twitter ( I have no way to verify it until the translated books are released) the following:
1)Tum and Tar are biological brothers
2) In 7 years the novel, Tharn rapes Type
3) Type hires a gang (who threaten Fiat with assault and rape) in order to scare and stop him from pursuing Type.
Has anyone who knows thai read the books, can they confirm if this is true?

I loved Tharntype, I had some issues with the story, but i love the cast specially the two main actors. My main issue, is at no point did the script writer try to make a point or clarify that pedophilia does not equal homosexuality..... there were plenty of opportunities to insert that fact somewhere. Another issue I had is Llong getting away with what he did and trying to make the character sympathetic is another thing.

We had enough Llong....what he did was inexcusable and trying to make him a sympathetic figure my issue with the series...now you are telling me they wanted to have more scenes of him...that's dumb....it's simple, he should have been in jail.

In the series Type is tall but not dark, I laugh every time they refer to Gulf as chocolate. Also Gulf looks mixed to me, but lots of Thai people have that mixed look.

My thoughts exactly.... the Hirablue CEO looked like he wanted to run things from the get go. I guess this is what happens when you have commercial sponsors.
The cast and the director made Mame's story come to live beautifully, I don't understand why you would mess with a winning formula.
Let's hope for good results and that they hire a great Director.

Actually I saw the whole exchange on twitter, Tharntype05, mentioned in her review that the TTTS fandom were shipping MewGulf two straight actors and (fandom) believed that they were together irl, someone protested and said Mew might be gay or bi due to a live he did and was asked about his preference and he said gender did not matter as long as there is love. Tharntype05 acknowledge that and edited her review removing her mention of them being straight, but when responding to the other person, she said something like "i've edited this out, so chill", the other person didn't like that she told her to chill and kept going on about it and started asking other posters if s/he was wrong for highlighting the issue, this ignited a debate because others also were saying that the live was not enough to assume Mew's sexuality, things devolved from there and a misunderstanding turned into a drama.

There are many toxic and broken people in the real world, they fall in love, they marry, have children and have a functional life.....there are people who have trauma and never seek help from a therapist but still live their lives. They don't live perfect lives, no one does, everyone has their dysfunction. The series is telling a story of broken people who fall in love.
Their are people who have been through horrible ordeals and have been resilient and move on.
I believe in getting mental health help and therapy but let's not act like everyone in the world believes in it or has access to psychiatrists and psychologists (even in the developed world).
Life and people are more complex than straight forward answers and people have many different ways of coping with their problems and traumas.
