wait I was really excited for this but the comments were negative at first so I decided not to watch it but now…
I feel like this drama is lowkey 5 dramas in one, each love story of the sisters could technically be a self contained mini drama. it has a lot of conflicting opinions bc of this and different people will like/hate different tropes attached to each arc. So you may be like me who finds some of the arcs meh, and hates one, but fell in love with another. i'd say watch a bit of each sister's love story and feel if you're vibing with it, and if not skip to the next.

I'm happy that you didn't give up on this brilliant series, produced with a high artistic and cultural level.…
finally someone said it, all their comments have been sounding like AI drivel. I don't understand the need to waste AI on drama discussion.

Well well well who would've thought that the most stoic and no-nonsense, scary man would be the kindest and most…
I love that not only is he the most respectful once getting married and not officially together, but that he was also even before marriage and before he had any interest in her

i agree completely and i'd go as far as to say the 4th couple is the only one so far that feels like they're having…
On the contrary, he seems to truly respect women considering how his first thought when he was forced to marry her was that his dad and grandma were ruining an innocent girl's life, and after losing his memory he trusts and relies on her to read the cases for him and help him out. They're actually operating as a TEAM, love to see it

Listen I really don't care if people want to defend him, people have defended far worse characters. What grinds my gears is the irrational outrage people in this comment section have against those who don't take their interpretation of event as gospel truth and who dare to have a negative opinion on what they want to defend. It's giving rules for thee but not for me. It's especially annoying when they try to act like I'm blind or crazy for pointing out something that LITERALLY HAPPENED on screen. I said he beat her to the point of blood. And he literally did. I even cited the exact minutes and seconds where it happened and provided dialogue for it, and yet people still want to pretend that me saying that is a lie somehow.

Like girl if you want to whitewash that bc you like the romance, go ahead, but not everyone will see that scene through rose tinted glasses. This is why MDL has such a bad rep, you can barely have civil discussions on here without people jumping down each other's throats for daring to have different views.

Nah, you are being way too condescending here and if anyone is being "tunnel visioned" here, it's you. I stated my opinion and my interpretations of the events and my opinion does not change even with context. Emotional cheating is cheating. Wanting to take a concubine is cheating. Raising your whip with intent to cause violent harm and with enough power to cause blood is abuse and beating, even if the victim changes. That is MY interpretation of events, and I am not forcing it on you. If you simply had your own that you wanted to talk about that would be cool and we could even have a civil discussion, but you seem hell bent in labelling my opinion as false or incorrect. That's not how it works.

Have a good day and I hope you stop engaging with me and my comments or reviews because I have 0 interest engaging further with someone who can't respect other people's opinions.

Hers gonna be the tough one because it involves royal family. Her future sister in law is the most favorite concubine…
Yeah, it has potential ngl, I'm curious to see how 5th sister will prevail

Of all the stories so far, this one is the most entertainingI absolutely love this couple (si niang and huizhao).…
I love how honest she is, and I love that she chose to respect the husband instead of lying to him and duping him into the marriage when he's in a state where he can't fully consent. She's a good egg fr.

"Your review took it out of context and made it seem as if he was an abusive husband." He IS an abusive husband and I am perfectly entitled to saying so. He emotionally and mentally abused her. He physically abused her even if it was "accidental."

"Your arguments make no sense." Okay? That's your opinion.

"In other words if he bumps into her and pushes her against a concrete wall and blood gushes from her head, you will declare he pushed her to the point that blood gushed from her head and no amount of "accident" will fix that for you."

Well, that's not what happened, did it? He was holding a weapon with intent to harm, he didn't just trip over his feet. The only accident is the identity of his victim.

"But he is not a wife beater that your word choice suggested." He beat his wife. That is fact no matter how many excuses you throw at it.

"And while we are on the topic of your "review" none of the husbands cheated on his wife. That was made clear in the drama by both Chai An and the second sister."

False. Emotional cheating is still cheating in my books and he had the FULL intent to take a concubine, which was only stopped by KN's scheming. That makes him a cheater to ME and to many other people who factor in emotional capacity and intent into their definition of cheating. You disagree? Great. That's your opinion, but it doesn't make mine a lie.

Let me just preface this by saying that i've been silently lurking because i don't want to rain on anyone's parade.…
i agree completely and i'd go as far as to say the 4th couple is the only one so far that feels like they're having an actual proper romantic arc and romantic development, instead of pushing through with hamfisted tropes for the sole purpose of angst or comedy or a contrived storyline. 4th sister's story still has tropes (amnesia, classic that one heh) but it's there to serve the development rather than hinder it.

And despite the ML being arguably the one husband to be with the MOST reason to be cold, cruel, or unfeeling considering he deals with criminals and sees the dirty reality of life in that city, he still treats people with basic human decency. Yes, that's a low bar but it's a low bar that every single male lead before him in the drama failed to meet and that's why so many people had criticisms about the drama. I agree with you that I would watch a whole separate drama about 4th sister's story. She's endearing and the husband is also intriguing, balancing the cold/indifferent vibe while still treating people with respect.

I really didn't expect to come out liking him the most in this drama considering who he played in the double lmao

That's why it really doesn't matter to me that it was an accident. Why was that whip in his hand in the first place? Why did he raise his hand in the first place? Were we supposed to sigh in relief had the one bearing the bloody gash on her shoulder been the maid instead of SH just because the maid isn't a main character? Absolutely not.

He put himself into a position where he was capable of inflicting that harm. He is still culpable and he is still cruel, and I will always maintain that SH deserves better.

Surprisingly, 4th sister and 5th sister make an endearing and hilarious duo and have become my favorite of the sisters. I really really didn't like 5th sister's husband to be, but I think I may have to watch it just for 5th sister. When she said she would just fight those nasty old ladies if it was her, I wanted to cheer for her.

Hey, as long as we can be civil, I'm happy to share my opinion. Personally, I think that if someone was going to do something drastic that would change their current situation, that's even MORE reason to inform their loved ones of what's going on. Imagine if his adopted mom had really committed suicide, for example? We're lucky this is a drama and he gets away scot free, but keeping those you care about in the dark in the name of "protecting them" not only is insulting to their intelligence and to their right to choose, it doesn't do a very good job of protecting them. What about their mental health? What about emotional abuse? That factors in too.

I see your perspective and it's valid, I just know that if my sister was in a situation like that and her husband did that to her in the name of protecting her I would be furious.

Having gotten the full context of 2nd husband beating Shou Hua, I still maintain my opinion.

I said no amount of "misunderstanding" or reasoning would get me past him whipping her. And my opinion on that remains unchanged! Even from the teaser, most people guessed that he had hit her "accidentally," and that she moved in place leading her to get hit. That already factored in to my review. And lo and behold, my opinion remained the same with context. Even if it was an "accident" that he hit her, the fact that he raised his hand in the first place is damning. The context actually makes it worse to me. It shows he is the type of man to beat servants / slaves (servants in those times with life contracts were just slaves). Just because it was accepted in those times, doesn't make it any better. Nor does it become any better that he was doing it "for her own good" as part of his bigger plan. No one in their right mind would ever portray a master beating a servant as a good thing just because it's better he hits the servant than accidentally hitting the wife. It's cruel, it's inhumane. End of story, for me.

And yes, he DID beat her to the point of blood, I literally went back and watched, 25 minutes, 31 seconds in to episode 17, after he lands the whip, a line of dark red starts soaking through her clothes. She holds her shoulder in pain and DYX himself says, "let me look at your injury." He beat her. There was blood. No amount of "accident" fixes that for me. So no, my review does not need to be "fixed."

My opinion remains unchanged. People are free to like the couple! You are free to love DYX! I really don't care if you do, but I'm also free to have my own opinion on them.
