I agree with OP Zhang Linghe has a LOT of room for improvement, his acting as Xie Wei got a lot of valid criticism for overacting and not having any nuance. His acting in Princess Royal was a lot better than Xie Wei, in fact Xie Wei is one of his worst roles for showing good acting.

I think when she started relying on him. First, he helped her solve the poison and was there for her during her worst nightmares, so subconciously she started to trust him more. Second, you see her open up when she says in the palace, "aren't you my way out?"
And third, even with others she doesn't act like her true self, but with him she can be whoever she wants. It shows that the trust has been building slowly and she's now started to think of him as "her" person, maybe without even realizing it!

Hence, why even she herself might not understand that she's jealous rn.

I'm the BIGGEST fan of story of ming lan ever, and for years I've looked for a drama to step into the shoes ming lan left behind and NOTHING has come close, until this drama! Finally, a strong intelligent FL in her own right who takes charge of her fate. Ming lan would admire Jiang Li so much.

I gotta disagree, ZLH is good looking but his acting leaves much to be desired, he is constantly overacting and his expressions sometimes appear outlandish. Not a huge fan yet.

Wang Xing Yue is killing this role, he just has a heavy gravitas to him and a presence you can't ignore because he acts with his entire body, from his body language to his eyes to the aura he gives out. He stands out to me among many of the actors I see nowadays who either overact or underact and just rely on their good looks. This guy is super talented.

It makes sense that he doesn't have as many scenes right now bc the novel is very FMC centric and the ML didn't make many appearances until much later, so they've actually given him more chances to appear early on in the show. I also don't mind that it's a bit sporadic right now bc every time Duke Su does appear it feels like a main event, like he steals your breath and you can't look away. Love that.

it makes sense according to the novel, he was literally barely in it for like a huge portion. theyre actually finding ways to incorporate him earlier and he steals the scene every time

I give this comment a gold star. I've been in love with wang xing yue since kunning palace, he was literally the most talented actor on that show, this man can ACT his ass off and beats out even other more famous actors when he's only 22. he's killing it
