yup, i love love that she learned under her grandpa and travelled the world and has a bright mind + courage to boot. her gramps said it was a pity she wasn't a boy bc she could have made so many accomplishments if she had been, and this sort of talent in women is usually not seen, or if seen, usually not allowed to shine. so these circumstances, desperate as they are, at least gave her a chance to develop and show her skills, which I love. She feels like a fully grounded character, who wuda thought.

OP is not alone in their judgement, many people in china made similar observations. You don't need to watch the entire drama to come to the same conclusion because no matter what happens next the core truth won't change. The FL will not be a scarred girl who everyone looked down upon, she will not have physical imperfections, she will not be poor and a traitor's daughter, she will not rise above her station. Because with the new face, all of those imperfections disappear and that DOES fundamentally change what the drama could have been.
