They cut the scene of TTJ in white when they reunite. Pretty sure the screen writers intended to end it this way, see below. Bai Lu also mentioned that they believe this is the best befitting ending for the drama.

I actually re watched the ending a bunch of times to cope. I agree. He just.. looks so happy and peaceful even at the end. So I’m like 🥲😭🥲
Ep 39 however, is more painful for me because it depicts what it could have been like, and what he’s wanted all along (a simple life).

I rewatched it so many times cause I knew no matter what, the ending will never change so I just had to learn to accept it.

I didn’t cry the 1st time I watched it because I was angry at what happened. 2nd time rewatching, I full on bawled my eyes out. Eyes swollen, whole day ruined. 3rd time, still feel the pain and almost teared up but I’m ok.. He just.. looks so peaceful even at the end of his life. 🥲

Day 3 and I’m finally starting to feel a bit better (less hurt) about the ending.. now I just miss TTJ and the whole drama in general, still wishing we had a bit more closure at the ending though.

Right, we got so little happy moments, I even started thinking the arc when YXW was trying to get him to grow love threads was the happiest arc, even if she was growing nails. In the immortal realm, they were happy for 0.5 seconds before all hell broke loose.

The ending can be perceived as an abrupt SE that’s why.

The reason they can’t divide it into 2 parts is because of Chinese regulations. Regulations said that there can only be 40 episodes max for any drama, but companies found a loophole and started airing things in 2 seasons. Immortal Samsara aired both seasons back to back and ended being 59 episodes total.

So to combat this regulations changed again and said that dramas can only have 2 seasons if the 2nd season is aired minimum 3 months apart from the 1st season. So they would have to air season 1, wait minimum 3 months then air season 2. A lot can happen in 3 months.. the drama can lose traction, actors can get into scandal and etc.. which is why this drama they decided to go through with the 40 episodes but change the length from 45 mins to almost an hr per episode, but many scenes ended up still being cut

You’ll get a feel within the first 20 episodes or so. The ML suffers a lot and there’s a sh*t ton of angst, but everyone is morally gray and his character development is amazing
