I don't know, I feel like they gave so much screen time to his story, that his exit was too abrupt.

Can't believe they forgot about Long ge when they were searching for the girl - he's always in Xiang's business smh. Plus his big purchases should've been easy enough to trace, I think.

Ok, from ep16 onward this has become such a mindfuck 😲💨 and not slowing down the pace even for a second… lost track of how many schemes are playing out at the same time…

This movie sucked! The disjointed storytelling sucked! The camera work sucked! The opening and closing sequences sucked brilliantly:D

This I agree with:) Still believe in that particular situation it made sense for him to keep a cool head - too many armed hostile parties + getting to hold her in his arms + knowing Liao and FL are in the shadows to call the ambulance.

Did you really expect him to start losing his shit in the middle of that standoff? He's not just a father, but a highly-trained, committed operative who's survived years working undercover with trigger-happy psychos. I agree the acting could've been more layered, but he's been consistently poker faced since the start. I like that it makes him look a bit narcissistic, which is a common trait in people who do this type of work. Plus with his experience he might've been able to tell how serious it was.

I like her. She's got skills, smarts and agency. But true, she's not the one driving the plot. In this set-up a lot of key events just happen away from her.

Finally caught up to ep12 and wow the plot just went a twisted version of chess where they all try to provoke each other's next moves. Fun!
Gotta say whoever sourced the locations did a great job. Loved that shipyard.
One of these days I have to write an appreciation post for Long ge's stylist. Cause…lol.
Btw in ep11 when they talk in the car about the dinner with our fav psycho, Liao says he changed his mind about the drugs after the banquet. The subs should read the Hongmen banquet which is like a Chinese version of Red Wedding;) I anticipate a lot of sparks between Liao and Long ge in the future:))

I only now realised looking at the comments below, that this is the notorious TT series I saw mentioned in so many mdl threads! Lol I feel like I've just hit semantic satiation on the word 'toxic'. You guys need to paraphrase more;P

Omg what a cryfest! Starting from that 4-men-simultaneous-crying sequence (who comes up with this stuff lol?) at the end of ep10, this basically went full-on soap opera style:D Not to say I didn't enjoy it or find it thoroughly entertaining:) This was a perfect series to binge with a friend on a long-ass ride. The story is pretty well structured and engaging. The quality is decent. The characters and conflicts believable within the convention. Techno is a pretty lovable comedic sidekick. Then, the couple dynamic is so delightfully out of whack, you just can't help but feel they're perfect for each other ...in the sense that they deserve each other very much;))
Btw is this how dorms look in Thailand? Cause damn maybe I chose the wrong country to study abroad:D

I was wondering the same thing. All the maps are blurred. I think it's supposed to be a fictional city set somewhere in the larger golden triangle (so that includes China's Yunnan province;)) Cause the city/landscape shots seem to be from all over SE Asia. But then the writing a bit too obviously points to Thailand. So I don't know.
As for why - yeah, censorship plus some people get easily butthurt when police is portrayed, so probably wanted to avoid that too.

That's what I was thinking too. Like what other white powdery stuff can be falling in SE Asia. But then why Long ge is holding an umbrella?! He should be rolling in the stuff.
