So Park Bo Young is a plain girl? Okay. Let me recommend you a good oculist lol It makes me kinda laugh that they just couldn't make the fl "ugly" according to her personality because the viewers must ship a beautiful couple. I love PBY but I don't know if I will finish this.
I read that this drama should have been made of 16 eps but a producer just fled with the money so they had to end it with a last rushed episode. If that's true, although I'm sad because this was really entertaining and weird (in the good way), this is the epitome of the irony lol (if you watched you would know why) and another crazy mad thing to add to this crazy mad show! I think about all that draggy plotless dramas that had even 40 episodes... TwT
I stan your review!! I watched it when aired and I was dying waiting to know if he would survive at the end! But...I think it's something I can rewatch only if I am psychologically ready because I cried liters of tears.
First of all your analysis is really great! You really dug deep into psychology of every character and cinematography! I really appreciate your efforts! It'also quite beautiful how you displayed it nicely in this article ❤ but unfortunately I didin' like it so much...as many of the drama I saw they start great and then go downhill somewhere in the middle, and I'm really sad about it, because I really wanted to like it. You wrote this is kinda of a game of thrones and yes, I was reminded of it too but there were too much unbelievable situations that made it a bit laughable ( for example Wang Shik makeover. His nose is completely different, how can someone become that in a month without surgery? Or as you pointed out Yu Ra scars...or even the first attempted murder of Sunny...why at the ceremony, in front of everyone? Isn't that a dumb move? Better get rid of her quietly...) Generally I had a confused feeling about this drama, for what concerns the characters, the plot and their motives. I think i this isn't a story that can be written day by day, it has to be decided well beforehand, possibly doing researches and taking inspiration from real things - in got there are many references of middle age real wars and characters! - and, if you want to kill off people, you need more characters, you can't play chess with three pawns then killing them off and "oh they're alive". In game of thrones there are plenty of characters, so they're easily disposable for the sake of the plot twist. I don't think I have a favourite character xD The emperor was weak, even tho he had charisma (it was ironic since he's the emperor and he should be the most powerful man. I've really appreciated the irony there), I think the ending really gave him a closure, there's no redemption for him - even tho he didn't kill his wife and the blood thing wasn't his fault/decision he was so broken and twisted that the only other option was a life in a mental institute, and Wang shik was cute at moments but idk if it's because he hadn't much screentime or development, he didn't grow on me. The character I hated the most was the dowager queen. She was just flat evil, like a cartoon character. But I loved how complete and complex some of the characters were, especially the emperor, Sunny and YuRa. YuRa's backstory made me soften a bit towards her, and I kinda root for her to reunite with his lover after they shown him alive. The triangle was useless, Sunny didn't have anymore feeling left for the emperor (and I would have been very mad if they would've pull that s.it out because nope. He tried to kill her twice and her family too.) so there was nothing to root for. Also bipolar much this emperor...I didn't find any cuteness in him chasing Sunny because I never forgot his previous actions and to me he seemed out of character.
Well said! I actually tend to avoid, if possible, drama with this kind of character, moreover if is the ml the obsessive one (the ones who seem to ditch their jobs in order to stalk the girl, throw jealousy tantrum when they're not entitled to - because the girl doesn't love him at this stage of the story, not to talk when they force themselves into the girl with unwanted kisses or hugss, the infamous wrist grabbing, cornering and other caveman moves I personally despise a lot) because I think that's not a solid ground to build a relationship. Talking about the second female leads I don't really understand how a person could be so persistent when she was rejected and stood up so many times. It's humiliating and annoying (also, usually the obsessive girl is a rich spoiled brat who accuse the poor female lead to be gold digger, while the two main reasons of her obsession are money and handsomeness. Hypocrite much.)
Last ep airing today if I remember right but the actor who plays the guard won't be in the last eps so probably…
At first she had a long term crush on the emperor, but he uses her as An alibi and well, he also try to kill her twice, so after the moment she discovers the truth she won't have anymore feelings for him. It seems to start developing a feeling between her and nam shik but it's not really cooked, he had not that much screentime to be honest and their ship never sail xD
Last ep airing today if I remember right but the actor who plays the guard won't be in the last eps so probably not him but also I don't hope her to ends up with the king after all the things he's done..I kinda dropped it because it felt draggy at some point but you won't really get a feeling of who's the ml since start. Maybe everyone will die at the end? If you're planning to watch it for the ship only, don't bother...there few cute scenes but most of the drama is people plotting stuff

Excuse me what the fork- ?
Who wrote it was really high or who wrote the screenplay went to the same pusher as who wrote the synopsis. Lol.
