I had stopped watching them after I had found Kdramas. I could relate way more to those than the American ones.
I still watch both because there are some great tv series but also there, the number dropped, I remember watching like 10 tv series in the same period but now - well let's also add that now most of the tv series just come out with all episodes at once - I have like three, four of them I'm still watching.

I feel you so much! I've started watching them in 2013 out of curiosity and sometimes that year I was scared by myself - like I developed some serious addiction (and not in a good way.) I'll be honest I watch dramas not expecting some masterpiece, (even if there are some gems here and there!) but because they're naive and funny, and totally unrealistic compared to my real life. A thing that kept me hooked probably was the charm of seeing things from another perspective, as an european woman, my customs and traditions are pretty different. And the language. Korean especially, but also Japanese and Chinese (even Thailandese) are interesting languages I love to hear them.
Come to think of it, I can barely name or remember three or four of the last drama I've seen, sadly. Almost everyone I saw, tho, started off with great ideas but after some episodes it looks like they run out of material and they just put a bunch of their usual cliches and unnecessary drama into the cauldron expecting to make good lasagna with random ingredients.
Maybe it's just because recently they're trying to take themselves more seriously but it's not what the majority signed for? I don't know, I personally appreciated more attention to the plot, but if you want to be taken seriously, you'll have to stick with it and face up the topic in the correct way. For instance, I noticed that after the metoo there are less wrist-grabbings (and stuff like that) and more "independent woman" speeches, and that's great, but if what the character says doesn't fit well in the set up it looks more like commercial / propaganda than a story about emancipation.
I don't know, these are just random thoughts after reading this article (thank you for bringing up the issue!), I feel the same as you, but I can't really identify how many and what issues make me feel that way. I first thought "maybe I'm just out of target? I started at 23 years old, now I'm almost 29, after all" but it's not it, because I still rewatch some of the older dramas I liked back them. The insane recycling of situations, twists and characters? Surely that's a contributing factor, yet cliches were always there and I personally enjoy some of them because they're fun.
ps. forgive me for typos, english is my second language :)

Yes the gangsters were funny, but somehow the story went in different directions (also the weird monk I really don't understand his role in the story) I'm mostly disappointed at the thriller part, I hoped for more mistery and thriller. Not saying I didn't loved it tho ????????????????????????

The writer of "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon " .If Ji Chang wook didn't already sell this one to me ,this would have…
Swdbs was hella funny and fluffy but even tho it's on my toplist there were a lot of holes and superfluous scenes/characters so I hope they won't exaggerate with the comic part at the expense of the story this time ????????????

Title Love Alarm
I just hate how these people are relying on an app rather than their own hearts????
Yeah I agree! Also sometimes it's shown like the app revealed an attraction, sometimes like it's only true love be shown. They didn't show like for instance the same character making the phone of two persons beeping at the same time. Since usually dramas have 16 eps, I think this is just half of the season, netflix tend to split things that way o.o

So Park Bo Young is a plain girl? Okay. Let me recommend you a good oculist lol
It makes me kinda laugh that they just couldn't make the fl "ugly" according to her personality because the viewers must ship a beautiful couple. I love PBY but I don't know if I will finish this.

Excuse me what the fork- ?

Who wrote it was really high or who wrote the screenplay went to the same pusher as who wrote the synopsis. Lol.

I read that this drama should have been made of 16 eps but a producer just fled with the money so they had to end it with a last rushed episode. If that's true, although I'm sad because this was really entertaining and weird (in the good way), this is the epitome of the irony lol (if you watched you would know why) and another crazy mad thing to add to this crazy mad show! I think about all that draggy plotless dramas that had even 40 episodes... TwT
